Sunsets, Surfers and Rainbows!

The reservation process was easy and we had good communication with the host. Upon arrival we were surprised to find there were 3 units in the house: an upper, main level and basement. We were in the main floor unit, and had thought there was only one additional basement unit. So, the yard, washers and dryers. and outdoor shower were shared, which is no problem, just unexpected. The view from the lanai was wonderful. We enjoyed watching surfers from sunup to sundown with gorgeous sunsets and lots of rainbows. We could however hear the conversations of the people on the deck above us. Access to the beach area requires lots of climbing over volcanic rock and it’s not a straight shot to the sandy beach. This area is definitely more for surfers as there is too much rock for safe swimming, but plenty of great swim beaches are close by! In fact everything on the North Shore is close by. Can’t say enough how great this location is. One other oversight on our part is that there is no AC. There were plenty of fans throughout the house and wasn’t really an issue. Overall we really enjoyed our stay and would book again.

Good location close to surf beaches.

Overall good stay. Unit was a little older in wear than we expected but also is by the ocean so Understandable. Only downer was most beaches on north shore are closed to swimming in winter we didn’t know that.

Wonderful Property

We stayed at the property unit A and G, from May 30-June 7th. Communication with Kelley and Wes was wonderful! They are excellent hosts!Responded to all questions and concerns quickly.Checking in and out was seamless. You have a backyard with bushes that border around the backside. There is an opening that leads out to the rocks. We spent hours climbing those rocks, finding sea glass, playing in the tide pools, and watching the sea turtles sun themselves two houses down on the beach. One day there was even a seal hanging out on shore. Plenty of parking.Charcoal grills to use, boogie boards, snorkel gear, water shoes, beach toys.We left a net and some pool noodles to add to the collection for future enjoyment. The one thing I wasn’t aware of when we booked was that there is no AC in the house. This was an oversight on my part, so I am not blaming the hosts at all.I am from Florida, I love my AC, so I was a little worried when we got there because it was a little warm when we walked in.But once you open all the doors and windows and turn on the fans it was pretty comfortable. They have ceiling fans and floor fans as well.At night and in the morning it was actually chilly. But it was pretty warm between 4pm and 7:00pm while the sun was setting into the house. Most of the time we weren’t home so the warmth during that time didn’t matter. But the times we were home, here is a Tip: bring a blanket out in the backyard and hang out in the shade on the left side of the property. The wind is blowing, it’s shady, and you can hear the ocean waves crashing. It was absolutely gorgeous outside.During our stay the highest temp one day was 87° and the lowest it got was 67°. Amazing weather! Inside the property, you have everything you will ever need.Kitchen is stocked for cooking. Bathroom essentials provided to get you started. My only suggestion would be to maybe provide a swifter wet jet or a mop of some kind to help with keeping the floor clean. There was already a film of dirt on the tile floor when we arrived, nothing horrible, but you could feel and see it on your feet. Probably the salt residue/dirt. I’m glad I purchased extra paper towels and Clorox wipes. Leaving a mop for guest would be a win win for the owner and the guests. Location of the property is spot on!The north shore is the place to be.Do yourself a favor and book this place, you will not regret it. Thank you for a wonderful rental, Kelley and Wes. We loved it and would return. :)

Beautiful Beachside Location

We really enjoyed our stay as a family. We had units A & G. We had 9 of us ranging from teens to 50 yrs young. We all loved watching the waves and surfers from the kitchen and yard. The home is located near many amenities and beaches. The beach this home is located on is more for surfers (which some of us participated in) and probably not swimmers. We drove to other beaches to boogie board and swim. The house had lots of beach toys, snorkeling gear and boogie boards to borrow during the stay. We did spend a lot of time exploring the tide pools and rocks around the house. Quiet morning walks on the beach as we adjusted to the time change were also so peaceful The house was well-stocked with kitchen supplies and we enjoyed grilling a few nights of our stay. The location is truly beautiful. The only thing I didn't understand when booking is that this listing has 3 separate apartments (I thought it only had 2). There were other people staying above us as we had the main floor & G apartment located in the basement. There was plenty of parking. Walls were a little thin, but not a big deal on our end. We had a great time and would definitely stay here again. We went at the end of March 2021 - the weather was rainy a few days, but there was plenty of room for us to read, play games and enjoy hanging out together when the weather forced us inside for a few hours. Book it. You won't regret it!

Perfect spot; spacious home

We had an incredible stay here on the N shore! We found the property to have way more space than the pictures indicated and Kelley was such a great host, very responsive with all communication. We even found a family of 16 turtles just 2 houses down from us on the beach! We really enjoyed having separate spaces for my family and the in-laws and certainly hope to come back again!

LOCATION! LOCATION! LOCATION! This property was perfect for our large family. I love a place that feels clean and at the same time I don't need to worry about the younger kids feeling relaxed and worrying about what they're getting into. The location was great for the teens to roam and explore the beach and felt secure for the young ones at the same time. Aside from the great property- Kelley herself was great! She was very responsive to my questions and concerns about travel during these unprecedented times and I cannot thank her enough. We did not have any issues that I needed to contact her for during our stay... I could go on and on about what a treat you will be giving your family by booking this property... all of it to say WE WILL BE BACK!

Fantastic

This is the perfect place to stay! The location is fantastic! Views are amazing. Accommodations were nice and the owners were great to work with. We brought our family and grandparents with us. There was room for everyone to have their own space and also room to gather together. We enjoyed the outside deck and the private protected parking. The yard area was so fun for my boys to play around in and my daughter to sunbath on. We saw whales and watched surfers every morning. Looked for turtles and tide pools everyday. My teens loved the basement to hangout in and play games, when we were too tired. Outdoor shower was such a great bonus. We hope to be able to come back to this awesome space!

Location! Relaxing and the Views!

We really loved our stay here! Kelley was a great host. When the internet was down, she got spectrum to come that very day to repair it. The house is older of course and the G unit was not popular with the in laws, but it’s whats to be expected. I find it’s more relaxing and comfortable when a house isn’t so perfect and high end. We surfed, snorkeled, and played outside everyday! Would def stay here again 😀

Location, Location, Location ! Beautiful Property in Paradise

Our first VRBO stay was wonderful. Property is a well-cared-for, multi apartment, family home in a perfect place to listen to the waves and see the surfers. We were treated to panoramic views from the porch of the main floor unit we occupied. Completely met our needs with comfortable beds, great family spaces and ample cooking facilities. Property is on the ocean, and a very short walk to lovely beaches. Marine life abounds! We saw migrating green sea turtles sunning on the beach near-by on multiple days. The family also enjoyed using the binoculars to see playful humpback whales from the porch on their annual trek to arctic waters. This vacation home is located just north of Haleiwa, with its many wining and dining opportunities. Responsive owners kept us informed throughout the process. Strongly recommend! We hope to visti there again!. Thanks!

Amazing family vacation home right on the ocean!!

We had a wonderful time in this lovely location. THe older home has been maintained and updated, and the yard (fenced from the road and other homes and surrounded by shrubbery on the ocean side) was perfect for the older children to enjoy in saftey. We loved eating and playing on the covered lanai, even if it rained. Listening to the ocean at night was the perfect sleep aid! The view is 180 from sun up to sun down as we faced north on Oahu's beautiful North Shore. We also had a great view of the surfers even before dawn. We had 2 of the 3 apartments in this large home, the middle and lower studio. apartment, but mainly spent time together in the larger unit during the day, when we weren't at the beach or making the short drive to Shark's Cove to snorkel or to Haleiwa or to the farmers market. It was an amazing family vacation. Thanks!

Beautiful Location

Our family, which consisted of grandparents, parents, toddlers, and a baby, had a wonderful time relaxing at this house. We visited Oahu North Shore for a family wedding and also took advantage of the location, playing on the beaches and visiting the local sites. The views from the balcony and the sound of the ocean were spectacular. We would come back to this house and recommend it to others.

Awesome location for all ages

This Beach front property has an amazing view and is in a perfect location for any family wanting to enjoy Hawaii and all its beauty. Listening to the waves all day long is absolutely soothing. We were able to take the kids in the tidepools 2 houses down, see the whales playing right past the breaks, and stare at the turtles chilling on the shore a few houses down. Eventhough the weather wasn't perfect, the upstairs balcony was perfect to see the sunrise and sunset every morning. The House was clean and had all the amenities we needed and more. Kelley(the owner) was very responsive and accommodating to fit my family of 10. We definitely recommend staying here and plan to stay in the future.

Great location and space.

7 days in May. The “coast front” was nice. Sound of waves all night long. Plenty cool or warm with the fans available. Great north shore location! Downsides are: no locks on interior doors, including the bathroom. Beds are definitely FIRM. Could hear upstairs guest toddlers as they ran around at 6:00 am. Rented the mai. Level and the basement “G”. Not enough furniture to “hang out” on the main level or watch a movie. Upsides: great location with quick access to Haleiwa and Waimea/Three tables. Two sets of pretty good quality washer and dryer. Plenty of fridge space and dishes. We had a great time, wore ourselves out every day. (That helped sleeping with the firm beds)

Best Place Ever!

This listing does not even begin to do this location justice. View from the lanai is just stunning. One of the best parts of each day is sipping coffee and watching the sun rise and then watching the sun set with a cold glass of wine. Just to the right of the house is Chun's Reef, a surfing hot spot. You can watch surfers and paddle boarders from dawn to dusk. As several reviewers have said, this is a turtle mecca! Climb down the rocks behind the house and walk to the left and you will find a small cove just crawling with sea turtles (for those who don't know - Hawaii has very strict laws regarding their turtles - you must remain 6+ feet away from them. Be respectful of these giant beautiful creatures!) Chun's Reef is an excellent swimming beach, just a 2 houses away. You can see the pristine sandy beach in the pictures. Met several of the neighbors during our week here and they were all really nice. Now for the house. Super clean. Our upstairs neighbors left a few days before we did and we saw the housekeeper carrying a load of bedspreads downstairs to the laundry for cleaning. The biggest "ick" factor for most travelers are the bedspreads, but it appears this place actually washes them along with the sheets between each tenant. Big PLUS. Master bedroom gets tons of air circulation and the smaller rooms are pretty breezy. Portable fans are provided for those needing extra breeze. 2 charcoal grills are provided (burgers and hot dogs just taste so much better when grilled in Hawaii while looking at the ocean) and kitchen is well stocked. Now for the sites. Waimea Falls Park is close by - beautiful flora and fauna and swimming is allowed at the waterfall, providing conditions are safe for swimming - call ahead to make sure. It's a little humid in the valley so the addition of the golf cart a few years ago is a huge plus. They also have a farmer's market on Thurs afternoon. Veggies, fruits, jellies, soaps, etc. Bring cash as all vendors do not accept cards. Shark's Cove has excellent snorkeling with lots and lots of fish. Invest in an underwater digital camera and a pair of reef walkers. Great places for snorkling: Laniakea Beach (just a few houses from here), Sharks Cove and Turtle Bay Beach. Giovanni's shrimp truck in Kahuku - BEST DARN GARLIC SHRIMP EVER!

Outstanding Beauty!

We cannot say enough wonderful things about this property! It was the prefect vacation for our family. It was the prefect setting for our family, enough room, the beach at the backyard, turtles down the beach, close to everything and anything we wanted to do. Thank you so much for a memorable time!

Just as wonder in the summer!

We returned here in July, after staying in January 2009 (both times in the downstairs unit). While, of course, in the summer it's not possible to watch big waves and extraordinary surfing from the window, porch or backyard, the views are still wonderful, the sunsets still incredible, and the house still comfortable. The North Shore in the summer is just as great as in the winter. I look forward to going back.

Amazing View, Outstanding Value!

We stayed in the unit for 6 nights. We LOVED this rental. With the open floorplan, there was a spectacular view from the kitchen, dining room, living room, lanai, and master bedroom. The place is very spacious and family friendly, not fancy, but very tastefully done, clean, and comfortable. It's a perfect location for all kinds of north shore activities, many within walking distance or a short drive away. The gated entrance and ample parking were a plus... the outdoor shower was great for keeping the sand outside. There are surfers and kitesurfers on the beach nearby all day long, turtles come up on the rocks right out front every day. The beach just to the west is a gathering place for 20some hanu, and naturalists were there to log their activities and had very interesting information about each one. We found the best snorkeling to be at Three Tables Beach, across from the Foodland, and it also had a nice beach for swimming. The owner was very attentive to ensuring that everything was to our liking. This place exceeded our expectations and I would absolutely recommend it. Mahalo.

Spectacular!

We took our four children, 2 children in-law and 2 grandchildren over Spring Break. Kept the windows open the entire time. I can't get enough of the sound of the surf. There were turtles on the beach, whales playing in the distance and surfers almost 24/7. The property is the quintessential beach home. We noticed while on a beach walk that it is one of the few homes in the area with grass on the beach side. The 1-yr old and 3-yr old loved that. There is a gate to the property so parents only have to keep an eye on the ocean side for wandering children. We rented bikes and rode in to Haleiwa for the farmers market, beach park and lunch. We visited the Polynesian Cultural Center on our last day and found out that the ticket we had purchased allowed for multiple visits within a 2 week period. Our mistake for not paying closer attention, we would have liked to gone back. The babies loved the Dole Plantation and we all enjoyed our "Dole Whip". Our son rented a surf board in Haleiwa each day that we didn't do the "tourist" thing. It was very convenient. Of course Pearl Harbor was a requirement. We rotated with our kids in cooking meals and that worked out beautifully for everyone. If you did nothing but sit in the back yard and watched the show that nature and a group of devoted surfers put on for you it would be well worth the week. My husband got 2 books read in that back yard. It was cloudy in the evening the first few days we were there, but when we saw that first sunset it took our breaths away. We did go into Honolulu and did the drive by at Waikiki and the entire family was thrilled that we were not caught up in that "mess" and had our very own house and only had to share the beach with a few locals. If there is a downside the traffic on Kamehameha got pretty backed up on the weekends with all the turtle and surfer watchers. Since my husband and I are both from beach communities originally we knew this was to be expected.

Best Place to Stay on the North Shore!

We stayed here with my family and a couple of our friends. The view is amazing and I loved falling asleep to the waves crashing on the beach. The unit is clean and amenities are more than sufficient. We had a BBQ and got to see honu (sea turtles) just a few yards from our porch. There is a turtle beach down the road packed with other tourists trying to see one, but we had 5 at one time that we got to see sleeping on the beach. There were also several swimming in the ocean too. It's also not to far from a grocery store and the main part of North Shore. We are planning on going back sometime this year hopefully and will continue to keep coming back to this unit. It truly feels like our home away from home.

We chose this home because the beauty, setting, and views were unbelievable. The oceanfront location with great snorkeling and surfing in the 'front yard' was a plus. We also figured our children would enjoy the tide pools in the front.

We liked the Chuns area as it was north of Haleiwa town by 2 miles yet easily accessible. And being more on the southern part of the North Shore meant a little better weather, less traffic, and easier access to town and the airport.

We looked at 62 properties and bought this one.

After all of these years, we're still in awe when we visit. We think that's special given the fact that we are coming from Del Mar, CA.
