Lagos, a 10-minute drive, is a vibrant town with a great choice of bars, restaurants and a bustling marina. It has a strong historic atmosphere with origins dating as far back as 2000 years BC. It has two municipal markets stocking fresh produce daily including fresh fish. There are numerous supermarkets, mini-markets and a good selection of shops. There are good local transport links by train and bus to the rest of Algarve and to Lisbon.
There are two water parks within a 30-minute drive of the apartment with a return bus service running from Lagos daily. Within a 45-minute drive Zoomarine can be accessed by car or a bus service from Lagos. Zoomarine's main attractions includes exhibitions by dolphins, seals and sea lions, a pirate show, an aquarium with sharks, 4D cinema, various rides, attractions, and 2 swimming pools one of which has a wave machine. Lagos Zoo is also only a 10- to 15-minute drive away with the monkey islands being a great favourite with children.
For the keen golfers there are 40 golf courses in the Algarve, of which 10 can be found within a 30-minute drive of the apartment. The nearest, Boavista and Espiche, have 18 holes and are each just a 3-kms drive away.
From Lagos marina you can take daily boat trips to the sea caves, dolphin watching trips, sea kayaking, paddle boarding, deep sea fishing, hire a yacht for the day or take part in a variety of other water-based activities. If you are interested in history there are two museums, one next to the marina and one in the old town which explores the rich cultural heritage of the area.
