About this property

Stunning large house overlooking Fethard Harbour with picturesque views

This is a family house and therefore we do not take adult only groups.

The Old Quay House is an exciting restoration of this magnificent historic period house situated on the harbour in the delightful village of Fethard on Sea.

With the beach just a few feet from the front door, this superb property has three separate balconies which overlook the headland, harbour and the entire panorama of Bannow Bay and beyond to Kilmore Quay. The dining room and many of the bedrooms also have similar views.

It is ideal for extended or multi-family holidays and is perfect for groups or societies trips as it can comfortably sleep 16. It has six bedrooms, 5 ensuite, and a separate upstairs lounge with a double bed and settee which can be used as a further private bedroom.

The generous open plan lounge, dining room, and spacious kitchen area are surrounded with panoramic windows overlooking the extensive gardens, patio terrace, harbour and headland.

The ground floor has 3 bedrooms, a large games room with pool table and a separate table tennis table. It also includes a step machine and exercise bicycle again with views of the harbour and beyond. There is also the opportunity to make use of the ample outside area for al fresco dining, recreation, etc. There is parking for four cars in the private driveway adjoining the house and further parking at the top of the east entrance. There is space for a boat and trailer if needed.

The village centre is a short walk from the house. Fethard on Sea is a wonderful village on the famous Hook Peninsula with all amenities. There you will find pubs, shops, a chemist, Chinese restaurant, cafes, and tourist information office. Stop by Neville's award-winning Pub Restaurant to sample their superb food or visit the spiritual clairvoyant practice. If you have a love of the outdoors, you can hire a kayak, pop into the Surf Shop, or visit the Coasteering Centre for the ultimate Irish experience.

Fethard is two hours traveling from Dublin and half an hour from Waterford and the Hook Peninsula area welcomes visitors from throughout the civilised world and Australia to enjoy its famous coast. With 14 Beaches (one for every day of the Holiday) we boast the most annual sunshine in Ireland. As mentioned at the beginning, this is a family house and is strictly for families only.

Our Family Irish holiday!
This was a great property for a family to enjoy Ireland. There is a terrific view of the sea from every window! We spent a lot of time on the pier and beach right across form the property. There are Many wonderful walks from the house to the village and to the nearby beaches and cliff walks. The locals were very friendly and helpful. We found plenty of touristy areas nearby as well as enjoying eating and shopping in nearby Waterford and Wexford. Just traveling from one spot to another on the very scenic roads is a thrill! In other words this property is a very good location and very well provisioned for a large group to have a wonderful time! I highly recommend it!

A family get-together in Fethard on Sea
The property is recently renovated and in a magnificent setting overlooking a small harbour and adjacent small beach. The village of Fethard on Sea is about a mile away and is on the Hook peninsula. Several nice beaches on the peninsula. Only drawback is that you have to bring your rubbish to the BigBin facility in the village. No recycling facilities there or nearby.

Fethard on Sea - a Hidden Gem
The location of this property is fantastic. Sitting over looking a small harbour is has amazing scenery. We were very lucky in the weather we got. We had 3 families with 8 kids in their teens. A high tide the kids could dive off the harbour which they did each night. Within 5 kms there is a multitude of impressive beaches. The house is a short walk to village with restaurant and bars. The house itself had a great open plan kitchen and suited the needs of the group Could not recommend this house and location more

Coastal Retreat
This is a fabulous place to stay with a group of people, we had eleven family members stay at Old Quay House. Plenty of space for hanging out or to find a quiet place to read by yourself. The the outdoor sitting areas were well used. A true bonus is the large kitchen with lots of space to prepare large meals. The kitchen was well stocked with everything, not quite like at home but for a rental very good. Views from the patio and “upper deck”, especially at sunset were spectacular. The location is also very quiet at the end of a dead end road with the only noise the occasional car heading to the harbor. Plenty of fishing spots and a small beach to launch a kayak in front of the house. We truly enjoyed our visit and look forward to coming back next year.

The Old Quay House, Wexford Ireland
Our family of 12, mixture of teens and adults stayed here for a week. Pros of the place are that it accommodates 12 people easily. The views are spectacular. The Wi-Fi works with 12 people. Hot water does not run out. The town is 1 mile away and within walking distance. There is a well equipped grocery store in town. Kitchen is well equipped. It could use sharper knives. It was easy to cook for 12 people. As a hint fishermen come just about every morning and have fresh lobsters and crabs! If you talk to them nicely they may sell you few. The garden is beautiful, but could use a gardener. Cons I would say is that host is asking us to dispose the trash. We are not used to hauling trash. Perhaps, this is an Irish VRBO custom, but definitely not a US custom. Overall would 100% recommend staying here.

Family birthday celebration
Location and house had everything we need for a very enjoyable stay. Loads of space and plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. Middle floor (wheelchair accessible) with the kitchen & dining area which overlooked the harbor was excellent and where we spent the majority of our time

Super Family holiday
Our group of 17 stayed earlier this summer, and we had a lovely time. The house was comfortable, very well equipped, spacious and was in a fantastic location. There is lots to see and do in the area and is close to Waterford City. There are plenty of beaches in the vicinity and the village of Fethard is lovely, with excellent shops/pubs/restaurants/take-aways.

Great property in a fabulous location.
It was ideal for a large family gathering. Lots of room inside and the beach on the doorstep was perfect for the kids to explore. Lots of local points of interest in the area to drive to. Large kitchen diner was perfect for us, well equipped and great views out to sea. Local village of Fethard close enough to walk into to enjoy the local pubs or to pick up some supplies from the small supermarket. Would stay here again.

A fantastic place to stay, fabulous views and a wonderful property.
Our family of 12 had a great stay here. The property is amazing, really homely and has everything you could possibly need including the spectacular views. The children loved the games room and being so close to the beach. Sheena is a great, attentive host and we would highly recommend this property. The children are already asking when they can go back !!

Hi, Sheena here,
My husband am I are a semi retired couple with a cottage on Quay Road Fethard. We fulfilled a long held ambition to purchase the historic old Quay House by the harbour and have spent the last year having it tastefully restored to a high standard by local craftsmen. We spend some of our time in Scotland on business but usually ourselves or colleagues are on hand. We will ultimately retire to the Quay House but meanwhile we are delighted to have guest enjoy one of the finest locations in Ireland for lovers of seaside, coast, and harbours.
