Spread over two floors the generous accommodation, including four comfortable bedrooms, two bathrooms, a well equipped kitchen, a big lounge plus dining area, a chill-out/ play mezzanine space, a cosy snug and a utility room. Each of the three tastefully designed first-floor bedrooms, as well as the large ground-floor double bedroom, offers a peaceful sanctuary for restful nights, awakening to the soothing sounds and views of the sea. Unleash your culinary creativity in the well-equipped kitchen or ignite the BBQ coals and cook outdoors under the open skies. For much fun and laughter, uncover the treasure chest packed full of board games, cards and puzzles guaranteed to keep all ages happy and entertained. As the evening sets in, witness the stunning sunsets over the sea or grab a book and snuggle up on the sofas. To add an extra touch of cosiness and appeal, the log burner’s crackling fire creates a warm and comforting feeling on cooler days.

Step outside, and rejoice in the exclusive use of six acres of private grounds including enough parking for 5-6 cars. Take a leisurely stroll through the gardens and breathe in the fresh coastal air and immerse yourself in the beauty and tranquillity that surrounds you. For beach lovers, follow our woodland steps that slowly meander down to the little stream and onto the beach to discover hidden coves, rock pools teeming with marine life or find a secluded spot and watch the waves roll in.

A paradise for walkers with the S W coastal path moments from our door. Set your own pace and follow the rugged cliff-top trail to the nearby pretty harbour villages of Looe, to the East or Polperro, to the West. Wander through the narrow streets lined with colourful cottages, indulge in fresh seafood delicacies and soak up their rich maritime heritage. Take a trip to the renowned attraction of The Eden Project, a world-famous ecological sanctuary that showcases the diversity of nature. Thrill-seekers craving heart thumping adventure can book a visit to Adrenalin Quarry, where ziplining and water based activities await.

Peaceful break!

A great location for peace and quiet and lots of walking opportunities. Well appointed cottage had everything we needed and the log burner was a bonus when it was pouring with rain. We all had a very relaxing time.

A great stay at Studio cottage.

A stunning property in a fantastic location. Amazing views over the bay and your own private path down to the beach. A great place to get away from it all and relax. Highly recommend the nightly BBQ at the smugglers cafe down by the beach.

An amazing place

We (a family group of 9) have just returned from a week's stay at the wonderful Studio Cottage. The location is amazing - so quiet with stunning views and just a short walk to the beach. It was great to be able to walk along the coastal path to Looe and Polperro but then get away from the crowds and return to this wonderful haven! The house is really well equipped with everything you need and more - it was spotlessly clean on arrival and we really appreciated the welcome goodies of food and drink - especially the cream tea! Communication with Kate was excellent - information about the cottage was detailed and she was really great at promptly responding to any queries we had and going out of her way to answer additional queries such as restaurant recommendations! I have no hesitation in recommending Studio Cottage ....we are already thinking of booking for next year!

Remote Paradise

This was our first time away after the Covid-19 lockdown and Studio Cottage could not have been a more perfect escape. The photos do not do it justice! I felt like we were living in a movie the entire week! It is nestled on a gentle hill with multiple routes to the sea including a series of enchanted stone staircases through a lush wood. My 5 children ages 10-15 loved the freedom of being able to explore the expansive grounds as well as getting themselves to the beach to climb the rocks at low tide or take a quick swim. We also enjoyed family hikes along the coastal path to Polperro which is a charming fishing village. One morning we took a short drive to Looe to enjoy the expansive sandy beach and try crabbing. However, there was really no reason to leave Studio Cottage. The views from the main window were spectacular. The bedrooms were comfortable and well-appointed, and the kitchen was well-stocked and there was a separate space in which to do laundry. The beach below never had more than a dozen or so people on it and sometimes we were the only ones so we really and truly felt like we had the place to ourselves! Kate was incredibly welcoming and immediately responsive to our questions which were almost none as communication was so clear from the outset. We wish we could have booked a second week!

Breathtaking

We loved every minute of our stay at this beautiful cottage, the pictures on the website don't do it justice. The views from every room are amazing. It was so well stocked with all the basics which was great as renting a house you have to do a big shop but we were met with everything you would need. There was wood in the fire which we lit on our first night. We went on some lovely walks from the house down to a lovely beach with a cafe. The only thing I would suggest more of was recycle bins, we had a lot of guests coming and going so there was a few drinks had and we filled the bins fast. If you are looking for somewhere private with loads of room for family and friends this is the place.

Great family holiday in a stunning location

We spent an extremely enjoyable week in this very special property. The pictures aren't deceptive - it really does look like this! With generous interior proportions, huge private grounds and breathtaking views, the property itself has comfortable beds in decent sized rooms, everything was in a good state of repair, and nothing seemed to be lacking. The main living room in particular (the former studio) has a huge window by the dining table, which made for a very special backdrop to our meals. The outside area is vast, with plenty of space for several different games or activities to happen simultaneously if there are a lot of you. But it's the location and views that make this place so special: close to a couple of beaches; right on the walking routes to Looe and Polperro; with uninterrupted views out to a vast expanse of sea; and the added bonus of the hotel next door or cafes by the beaches if you don't fancy cooking. I don't often come away from a self catering holiday and think "I would like to come back to this property" - there's always something better - but this place is an exception, we would gladly come back.

What a fabulous house. Very comfortable beds and plenty of activities for children. Views are just the best thing to wake up to. Had a slight problem with some lights but the owner Kate sorted it immediately. Very impressed. Would 100% recommend this house and will be coming back.

One of the best cottages we've ever stayed in!

Absolutely beautiful cottage, impeccably clean and well equipped with everything. Stunning location, on top of a hill facing the beach. Very easy to get to by car. Perfect for families. Kate was very helpful with everything. We are definitely going back to this cottage and would highly recommend to everyone going to Cornwall!

About the host

Hosted by Kate Baker

Host profile image
Hi, my name is Kate Baker. My family has been very fortunate to have owned Studio Cottage for the past 35 years and have enjoyed many, wonderful holidays here over that time.

I'm a fairly active person and enjoy trail running, yoga and hiking the beautiful Cornish coastal path

Why they chose this property

Anyone that has visited Talland Bay will understand the compelling reasons why we chose this area over any other part of Cornwall. Firstly, the breath-taking coastal setting offered an unparalleled natural beauty that provided a serene and picturesque environment that we were all craving. The sheltered bay, safe waters and beach gave us the opportunity to enjoy coastal life to the fullest. The area is peaceful and has a laid-back feel that allows for a slower pace of life, which made it an even more appealing choice. There's places to eat with two beach cafe's, or for fine dining, there's the local hotel with an award winning restaurant all within a short walk. It's an added bonus to have the S W coastal path right on the doorstep too. Walking along the cliff tops to the nearby pretty fishing habour villages of Polperro or Looe, stopping for a bite to eat and then meandering slowly back is great fun. Talland Bay is also conveniently located so grants easy access to explore the region's rich history, cultural attractions and stunning landscapes. Talland Bay is truly an idyllic haven.

What makes this property unique

Apart from the fabulous sea views, it's the peace, space and tranquillity that Studio Cottage offers that makes it such a special and unique place to stay.
