Set in tranquil countryside in the golden triangle between the 'Cité Médiévale' of Gourdon, Sarlat and Rocamadour & is 3.5km from the Dordogne border, with the Dordogne River being just 5.5km away. We are within a short drive of 3 lakes with man made beaches, bar restaurants and lifeguard patrol at one. There is also the river Dordogne with shingle beaches and many water sport options & finally in Gourdon (10 minute drive) there is a terrific Lido in the summer months which is extremely good value for families.
Interior Details
The barn has two king sized double bedrooms and two twin bedrooms (all upstairs). Downstairs there is a good sized and well equipped kitchen diner and a charming sitting room with old oak beams. There’s a freeview TV, books and games, CD, MP3 player and ipod docking station. .There is WiFi throughout. There is a family bathroom upstairs, as well as a shower room and separate WC downstairs.
Exterior Details
Outside is a lovely garden with BBQ and stylish garden furniture. The barn has the advantage of the early morning sun at the front of the property until the afternoon and the afternoon and evening sun at the rear, making the patio decking ideal for evening dining. A table and chairs is provided at the front of the house as well as the rear for full use of the sunshine.
With the Dordogne river at the heart of the region, a number of canoe operators provide all equipment and will drop you off upstream so you can leisurely canoe down river through villages and beautiful countryside. If golf is your passion, there is a superb 18 hole golf-course within a short drive, with excellent greens and tree-lined fairways. A visit to the Dordogne offers walkers of all abilities the chance to explore the beauty and wilderness of the countryside as hundreds of marked walks are available (including the famous GR 46 route). You can also hire bicycles in Souillac (15kms from your holiday barn). If you’re feeling adventurous you can even see the world from above on a hot air balloon flight. There are also many caves to explore, such as Gouffre de Padirac where you take a boat ride on an underground river or Lascaux, where you can see some of the world’s most significant prehistoric paintings. If you want to step back into more recent history, the fortified castle of Beynac with its museum of ancient warfare is the place to visit. All of these leisure activities, and more, are close by so no one will get bored in the car!
