On Saturday, September 4, 2021 at around 1:00PM, my wife, myself and a family friend approached this property and immediately thought that not only did the area look sketchy, but also the property itself. We held out hope that the inside of the property would be nice, attempting to not judge a book by its cover.
Here are the following reasons not to book this property:
(1) The unit was not clean; the owner later told us that he cleans the property himself, so he had faith in its cleanliness -- yet, he is charging a cleaning fee.
(2) The unit had the presence of some odor and/or airborne allergen that caused my family member to start to have an allergic reaction.
(3) The advertisement boasts that there is a washer and dryer in-unit, yet there is a DO NOT ENTER sign on the door where the washer and dryer is located.
(4) There were bugs in the unit, which is a hazard for small babies and just disgusting overall.
(5) The owner of the unit is VERY UNRESPONSIVE. The company VRBO informed us that they sent the owner an email regarding our concerns and they encouraged him to follow up with us. He never followed up with us and we were waiting in limbo.
(6) We requested a refund from the owner and he stated that he would be willing to do so if we changed up our opinions on the property -- we were not willing to do that.
Why you should not rent from VRBO overall:
(1) This is a terrible company that does not care about the consumer whatsoever. PLEASE DO NOT RENT FROM VRBO.
(2) The customer service is terrible, there is actually no support from VRBO at all.
This was one of the worst experiences we’ve ever experienced regarding the housing-sharing community. Do not ever book with VRBO. My family will be filing formal complaints against the owner of the home and against VRBO as well with the Better Business Bureau and with the Miami-Dade Office of Consumer Protection.
