About this property

Villa Christina for relaxing family holidays

Secluded villa, offered for rental by private owner on a self-catering basis, ideal for family holidays on the Greek mainland near Volos. Comfortable accommodation with several balconies for relaxing on as well as a large, shady, enclosed garden surrounded by olive groves. Please note this is a holiday rental villa and not a hotel. Registration no. AMA00000084227
This attractive property is on the edge of a quiet Greek seaside village about 7 mins walk from a sandy beach and the village centre. Swim in the Pagasitic Gulf, explore the cotton growing plains of Thessaly, scenic Pelion and lively Volos with its ouzeries. Come and experience life in a beautiful Greek village much appreciated by Greek holiday makers but off the beaten tourist track. Several other nice sandy beaches are within easy driving distance and many archaeological sites.
The accommodation is on the first and second floor of the villa. On the first floor is a fully airconditioned apartment with 2 bedrooms, large living/dining room and well equipped kitchen. You can also take your meals on the large balcony which leads out from the living room. On the second floor you will find 2 further suites each with a bedroom and a living room which can be used as a bedroom if required. Each of these suites has its own kitchen area so if you are an extended family or a group of friends you can prepare meals independantly if you wish. There are 2 bathrooms on the second floor and a 3rd bathroom on the first floor with a separate WC. Each bedroom has its own balcony. The bedrooms on the second floor have air-conditioning but the living -rooms on this floor are cooled by ceiling fans. From the 2nd floor you can see the sea in the distance and everywhere there are lovely views over the olive groves around the villa.

The Village: In the village centre you will find a choice of cafes/bars and tavernas, with excellent fish, some of which stay open all year, all within walking distance of the villa. It also has a bakery, greengrocer' and a general store with butcher's. The beach is also within walking distance of the apartments and is sandy and gently sloping - making it very suitable for young children. There is also a children’s playground, 5-a-side football pitch and volleyball court next to the beach. There are 2 beach bars which also provide sun loungers for the price of a drink. In summer Amaliapolis is popular with holidaying Greek families who enjoy this unspoilt area of mainland Greece. You can experience the 'real' Greece here largely untouched by mass market tourism. Sit in the village square looking out over the sea and watch the world go by or relax at the villa enjoying the lovely views whilst your children play in the garden of this Greek vacation rental villa.

The Area: As well as the sandy village beach there are several good beaches within a 30 minute drive dotted around the west side of the Pagasitic Gulf. There are also delightful Greek mountain villages to explore with extensive forested areas for walking. You can also take a boat trip to the island of Skiathos with its famous sandy beaches from the nearby seaside village of Achillion. The area of Magnesia is rich in archaeological sites including Ancient Thebes, Prehistoric Dimini, Sesklo and Dimitras.
Volos is a bustling small city with a wide range of shops, restaurants and ferry links to the nearby islands of Skiathos, Alonissos and Skopelos (where Mama Mia was filmed).
The Pelion Peninsula is within driving distance with beautiful scenery - a good day trip. In winter there is even a ski resort on the peninsula! Explore the seaside villages of the Pagasitic Gulf or drive up into the mountains for breathtaking views.

Further afield: If you want to venture further afield both classical Delphi (approx 120km) and the Byzantine monasteries of Meteora (approx 180km) make fascinating excursions as does the lesser known but stunning archaeological site of Dion (approx 170km). It is also possible to visit Vegina and Pella near Thessaloniiki for those who are keen on archaeology.

Visit Amaliapolis in Spring and see the hillsides covered in beautiful wildflowers. Birdspotters also will see a variety of birdlife. Take advantage of the lower temperatures in May or June if you want to sight see as well as swim. The sea is still wonderfully warm in September and October and the day time temperatures not quite so hot as July and August. Even in the winter months the weather is often bright and sunny.

Amazing stay
Amazing get away. The village of Amaliapolis is very friendly and family oriented. If you’re looking for a getaway to a quiet beach with great food this is your spot. Our stay at the villa was great. Has everything we needed and only 5 minute walk to the beach.

Beautiful property in an excellent location
Having stayed in Villa Christina for a week I was sad to leave. The villa is very well equipped, with everything you need, and all in great condition. The location is excellent with a good sized beach and a beautiful promenade within a 5-minute walk, including some great sea-side restaurants and local shops. The villa's balconies were the highlight for me, with views of the sea and surrounding olive groves from upstairs. We had a brilliant week and I would definitely recommend the property.

Fantastic house in a beautiful, idyllic setting
I spent a week with friends staying at Villa Christina in Amaliapolis. The house is fantastic: modern, well-equipped and in a brilliant setting, and very well-maintained too. It is less than 5 minutes walk away from central Amaliapolis, so incredibly close to restaurants and the sea but also peaceful and tranquil, with full privacy. The area is brilliant - we were the only non-Greeks in the village, it doesn't feel touristy at all and there is plenty to do and explore. Would definitely recommend the house and area, and very much looking forward to coming back!

Lovely house, nice location, everything provided
The house was lovely - exactly as advertised - and had everything we could've needed. The area was great - lots of beaches, included a really nice one within a couple minutes' walk - and never felt too touristy. Highly recommended

Villa Christina - Amaliapolis
In July this year I spent with my family ( 2 children ) 2 weeks in Villa Christina . It was really good. Villa is very nice, located close to beautiful Amailapolis offering full privacy jet not far from beach . Place is very well maintained , comfortable and safe. We like it very much - looking forward to come back again in following years. Srecko Belgrade

Although I currently live in the Uk I have a deep connection with Greece and feel incredibly privileged to own this villa.

Why they chose this property

This property offered my family very flexible accommodation which is easy to reach either from Athens or Thessaloniki. We were bowled over by the friendliness of the people in the village of Amaliapoli and this impression has been borne out by our experiences since we bought the villa.

What makes this property unique

We love the way this property is a little bit apart from the village so that it is quite private but it is also near enough that whenever we want anything we can just stroll to the village for a meal or to get something from the shops without having to get in the car and drive.
