About this property

Coachmans Cottage - a delightful mews cottage with enclosed garden

Coachmans Cottage is a sweet, compact cottage adjoining the old Coachmans Mews with its own delightful enclosed stone-walled garden and views over the Paddock to the hills beyond.

From the garden, the front door opens into the entrance hall leading to a large double bedroom overlooking the cottage garden; sitting room with open fire and southerly view looking up to Ceann Mhorr – the Big Hill (equipped with two single sofa beds for occasional guests), kitchen/dining area (with oven, hob, fridge with ice-box, microwave & dishwasher); bathroom (with bath, over-bath electric shower, w.c. and wash-hand basin).

Entry to the cottage is made via the garden path leading to the front door. Access to car parking is at the rear of the building by narrow driveway between garden wall and neighbouring cottages.

Melfort Village is terrific. Beautiful setting and marvellous accommodation. There is a pool, tennis court, putting green, restaurant /bar (great food)and lots of space. The staff are great, enthusiastic and helpful.Walks in the nearby hills or to the lochs. The Village is well placed for access to the magnificent nearby scenery (but do not follow the receptionist recommendation as to how to get to the falls - the road is a nightmare and there is a longer but better way!). All in all just a fantastic break.

A gorgeous, well equipped cottage on a resort offering many leisure activities.
Loved it, but very expensive to heat. Bring hot water bottles and throws for the evenings. Heating system yet to be upgraded. However, we still had a great time. Enjoy the music evening and the best fish and chips ever in the restaurant. Reception staff couldn’t be more helpful. Maintenance team quickly on hand if necessary. Highly recommended.

Always a pleasure to return to Melfort Village
We 'owned' a cottage at Melfort Village for several years. After selling we have rented according to our needs. Coachmans Cottage is compact but perfect for a couple like us who enjoy a garden that allows us to feed and view a vast array of birds. Accommodation has continued to improve over the years. We would be happier if reviews allowed us to say 'very good'. Love Argyll and staying at Melfort Village.

A peaceful haven
While Melfort is an ideal base from which to pursue outdoor sports and touring around Argyll, it is also a wonderful place to relax in complete peace and quiet ... apart from the birdsong if you put out some tasty snacks for our little feathered friends! All the staff are friendly and helpful, the village is beautifully kept and, if you prefer not to go out and about too much, there is always the lovely swimming pool, hot tub and sauna. Melfort is the perfect place to unwind and recharge the batteries.

Lovely couple of days at Melfort Village
From start to finish, we couldn’t fault our stay at Melfort Village. Receptionist very welcoming and helpful. Cottage was ideal for us with two young sons and our new 5 month old puppy. The enclosed garden was perfect for the dog. Cottage was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. Grounds and facilities are kept very well and bonus of pool tables etc all free. Very quiet and peaceful but plenty for our two boys to do. Extremely dog friendly, so perfect place for a few days away with your family/pets. Will definitely recommend and hope to return

Melfort village.
Second time here, the Coachmans is starting to look tired and out of date, the heaters are still storage type and none throughout the property worked well, we had to ask for another plug in heater to keep warm, my wife wanted to take a relaxing bath after i had mine, but the water was cold, mussels had been bought from Oban for our tea but were unable to cook them as there were no lids on any pots to steam them, great location but would probably choose somewhere else to stay next time.

A Week in september
Though only a week at the site we found it very convenient to visit local areas, North, South East and West. (Oban, Campbelltown, Inverary and Crinan) All worth a visit and have there own attractions. The scenery in Argyll is amazing. The planning of each day was made easy by the information available at Melfort and the excellent introductory talk, which provided plenty of insights and local knowledge of the whole area. The accommodation was very comfortable, clean and well appointed. There are plenty of good places to eat, that will accept two dogs. We would especially recommend The Crinan Hotel for a Fish Stew and the 'Shower of Herring' for a good meal, provided by 'Mine Host' Kat, who was a joy to meet If you are so inclined there are also plenty of activities available at the site and around.

Cottage was perfect
Coachman’s Cottage was absolutely perfect for us and our little dog. The enclosed garden was brilliant for keeping him safe. Parking at the back of the cottage was easy enough on the days when our thoughtless neighbour wasn’t in but when they parked first we really struggled to get in and out. The village is in a remote location about 25 minutes from Oban. The main reason for booking here was the on site dog friendly restaurant so you can imagine how disappointed we were to be informed just two days before our arrival that the restaurant was going to be closed for 5 of the 7 days. Had we known this earlier we definitely would not have stayed here.

Argyll-A new area of Scotland visited.
A beautiful part of Scotland on the west coast with lovely views of the surrounding area not forgetting the Loch. Coachman's cottage was very comfortable with a garden. The accommodation was well appointed. The staff were able to suggest the many places to visit and gave detailed information of the history - their knowledge was second to none. A friendly atmosphere pervailed throughout.

Great wee escape
This cottage was perfect for the 2 of us and our dogs. The walled garden is a lovely suntrap and really handy for just opening the door and letting the dogs out and the open fire is very nice in the cooler evenings. The dog paddock at Melfort is a fantastic edition to the site providing a secure place for dogs to get off to run about. Plenty of onsite activities and nice walks from the house. Staff are very helpful.

A restful stay in the peace of the Argyll countryside
Melfort Village is a truly magical place. I go purely to "recharge my batteries" by swimming in the delightfully quiet pool, watching the birds on the feeder outside my window and snuggling down with a log fire in the evenings. Both the landscaping around the Village and all the accommodation are beautifully maintained. The properties are also very well equipped but there is an excellent restaurant in the Village if you don't want to cook. The village itself is so quiet yet it is close to all sorts of activities for the lively and adventurous. On that note, do go along to the Welcome talk on a Sunday morning where Olwyn will tell you everything you need to know about the area.

A quiet get-away
We had a comfortable cottage, cozy with a real fire. It was great to re-charge our batteries before the Christmas onslaught. The staff are all very friendly and informative about local activities. They go out of their way to make your holiday the best that it can be.

£ Day Break
Scenery, as always, spectacular. Staff so friendly and Musical night a treat. Found the bed a it too solid for me, but that's a personal point of view. A cheap 3 day break, just what was needed.

Coachman's Cottage at Melford Village 2/9/17
The Cottage has been recently refurbished with good quality bathroom, kitchen, lighting and 2 comfortable sofas in the sitting room with TV and WiFi. Very cosy to come back to after day out in the rain and knowing that on-site restaurant 'Shower of Herring' is available with good food at reasonable prices. Walled garden appreciated by dog. Very helpful staff with good knowledge of nearby attractions and ferries to islands. Need a car to explore the area.
