About this property

Coachmans West - a semi-detached cottage that sleeps up to 6 guests

Attached to the old Coachmans Cottage, Coachmans West and East have been converted into two light, airy apartments with an elevated position affording fine south westerly views over the Village Paddock and to the Melfort hills beyond.

The apartments are on first floor level and entrance is via a stone staircase onto a wooden balcony with outdoor seating. The front door opens from the balcony into a hallway (with coat hanging space) leading into a large open plan sitting room (equipped with wood-burning stove, double sofa bed, CTV, DVD)/dining/kitchen (with oven, hob, fridge with ice-box, microwave & dishwasher). Fantastic views through the wide, sliding Patio doors which open from the sitting room onto the balcony, extending the full width of the building. A small hallway opens off the kitchen (with storage space) leading to the bathroom (with bath, separate shower cubicle, w.c. and wash-hand basin)

At the rear of the building is a generously sized double bedroom and twin bedroom opening off the sitting room.

Car parking is in the area immediately below the balcony in front of the apartment.

Twixmas break.

Excellent and relaxing short break at a very good price. The resort is very dog friendly and the staff are extremely helpful.

Peaceful location

Stayed for 5 days in July. Felt our accommodation was a bit tired looking and definitely in need of upgrading, especially shower. Very quiet location with good facilities on site. We ate in the restaurant one night but can’t say we were impressed with the food, lady that runs it is lovely though. Did day trips to Mull and other islands which was great.

Great quality and fantastic value

We had a fantastic stay at Melfort Village. So surprised at the level of quality of the cottage, it had everything you could possibly need, with a list of additional items if needed, like hair straighteners etc. The amount of entertainment facilities was exceptional, loads to keep adults and kids and dogs! occupied. Staff were so helpful and warming.

Weekend away

Charging £10 a day for electricity is a bit cheeky but over all a lovely place to get away from it all and relax. Was nice and clean and nice loacation. The shower definitely needs upgrading however. We also had a very relaxing massage on site.it was superb. Overall i would recomend melfort to others.

January week at Melfort

Fantastic accomadation in a wonderful setting. A great place if you like walking either at low level or maybe a bit more demanding. Friendly welcome from the staff with plenty of information available on the local area. Get the log burner going and it was really cosy. Would highly recommend a day out on Mull via a ferry from Oban , take your car to take full benefit. The only down side for us was hitting a pot hole on the approach road as we set off home resulting in a 3.5 hour journey on the back of a low loader to Glasgow. And a £350 bill. Took the edge of a bit but we will definitely return.

Melfort village

Great place for a break to unwind and just enjoy the scenery. Brilliant for the dog great walks round about and very dog friendly. Accommodation was superb warm and everything you would need in a self catering home was provided. Staff where superb made you very welcome and where very informative of events and local attractions. The shower of herring was excellent for a carry out and sit in meals. This is our second time to Melfort village and it will hopefully not be our last.

Comfortable and relaxing

This was our first stay at Melfort Village and, in fact, our first stay in the Oban area. The resort is charming and the staff were welcoming and friendly. Coachmans West was a very comfortable apartment and relaxing in front of the log-burning stove was a very pleasant way to spend an autumn evening. The close proximity of the pool, hot tub and gym was a real advantage. All three facilities were very well maintained. The Shower of Herrings restaurant serves excellent food and the staff here are also very friendly and efficient. The takeaway facility is a real advantage. The Monday night musical evening was one of the highlights of our stay. There is a good range of walks from the resort. We found the storage heaters a bit difficult to control to get the optimum temperature but this was a minor inconvenience and did not detract from a very enjoyable week at Melfort Village.

A great place for a holiday

Cottage was extremely well equipped. Had everything you could possibly need. Facilities on site ( swimming pool, jacuzzi, tennis court, games room, putting) are great and we made use of them all! All in all a lovely place for a holiday

Timeshare exchange

Apartment in good location to allow kids their freedom at the park, etc. Weather made the holiday as first few days were wonderful. Apartment wasn't on par with my usual timeshare location, but I knew that before we went. However, all needs were catered for, and staff were friendly and knowledgable about the surrounding areas.

A perfect place to de-stress.

We booked this stay at short notice. After the initial booking communications (which could be a bit more computer-friendly...had to print off a response form then scan information then attach to return with an e-mail) all was plain sailing. The apartment was very clean and well presented, with all you could wish for as a self-catering let. The staff at Reception were friendly and helpful and the convenience of having a bar/bistro on site is great if you want to have a break from cooking in - they even do take-away or a delivery service to your door. The outside facilities and outdoor activity equipment were particularly clean and well-maintained. Being well off the main road delivered a sense of being in an oasis of calm, although some of the dog visitors were keen to announce their presence at times. Overall a great place as a base for a West Coast Holiday and thoroughly recommended.

Winter in Scotland

Meltfort Village is fairly remote and the only slight downside of our visit was that at this time the restaurant was not open due to a change in franchise at this time. There are some lovely hotels within a few miles, most are dog friendly so it was an opportunity to try out the delicious local seafood which was amazing. It was a beautiful drive up and back from Glasgow along the lochs, (Lomond and Fyne), we were blessed with some gorgeous days and a stay in this area is a great opportunity to visit and explore the many coastal ports and towns from Inverary right up to Fort William. At Meltfort itself, the facilities within the unit are excellent, including a great selection of books. it was cosy and well equipped. The staff were warm and friendly and extremely helpful. THe planned activities were a lot of fun. We had the good fortune to be staying New Years Eve which we spent on site. The meal was excellent thanks to Chef Diane. New Years Eve entertainment was also excellent and this was provided by Andy who did a fab job of entertaining us all with some great music, mostly from the Rock and Roll 60's era. The gym facilities and pool area are quite small. The hot tub is great, the sauna is best booked as it is tiny. Its not a place you could just visit once, I would like to come again in the Summer. For keen photographers it is absolutely delightful, its such a pretty area.
