About this property

Coachmans East - a cottage that sleeps 6 guests in 2 bedrooms

Lying adjacent to the old Coachmans Cottage, Coachmans East and West have been converted into two apartments with an elevated position affording fine south westerly views over the Village and to the hills beyond.

Entrance is via a stone staircase on to a wooden balcony with outdoor seating. The front door opens from the balcony into a hallway (with coat hanging space) leading to a large open plan sitting room (equipped with wood-burning stove, double sofa bed for occasional guests, CTV, DVD)/dining/kitchen (with oven, hob, fridge with ice-box, microwave & dishwasher). Wide, sliding Patio doors open from the sitting room onto the balcony which extends the full width of the building. A small vestibule opens off the kitchen (with storage space) leading to the bathroom (with bath, separate shower cubicle, w.c. and wash-hand basin)

A generously sized double bedroom and twin bedroom open off the sitting room and are at the rear of the building.

Car parking is in the area immediately below the balcony in front of the apartment.

Amazing weekend!
Melfort Village is a beautiful place! I was away for a weekend with my partner and we were in love with our cottage and the entire site. The cottage is huge enough to spend your entire life there and has everything you need. We enjoyed our day by walking around the lake, went to the pool and after we enjoyed a movie next to the fire place. The only upsetting part was that we couldn't access the Jacuzzi on Saturday because it was a cleaning day. In the cottage there was a note saying that the Jacuzzi will be cleaned until 4 or 5 pm (can't remember) but when we went there around 7 pm one member staff said it will be ready only for Sunday. The good thing is that even after you check out you can still use the pool/sauna but as we live in Edinburgh we had to leave early in the morning. Regardless this, the reception staff were amazing, our entire stay was fabulous and we can't wait to go back. So if you are a nature person, looking to relax away from the urban life, this is the best place to be!

Excellent, even got good weather!!
Sorry we missed out on eating at the shower of herring due to a change over of operators. Everything else was up to the expected standard. Even the ground were in excellent condition.

Coachmans east exchange
The resort is very well designed and maintained. The only reason I was not more enthusiastic is because I have osteoarthritis in bot hips and struggle with walking now and especially steps. ( I have now had one hip replaced.) The staff did say they would have tried to find an alternate cottage if they had known earlier, but is was an exchange and I was not that bad when the exchange was made. We love these places where we can take the dog , it is a great area for dog walking and eating out. Because I couldn't do much else I really enjoyed the putting green despite it being fairly rough, as did a lot of the other residents. Comfort is down for me because of the hips - the seats are always much too low! Most timeshares are the same - just one highr chair would be a great help. The staff are great.

2 night break
Stayed for 2 nights in coachmans east cottage, tranquil and well equipped. Shower of Herring restaurant was good, and Kat and her team do an excellent job.

Wonderful place
We were happy to stay for the first time at Melfort Village. It had everything that we needed and we were very comfortable. The staff was so great and friendly. We will miss our morning chats with them to tell them about our previous day's exploration and getting advice on where to go next. I would highly recommend Melfort Village for your next vacation!

Not quite singing in the rain
Second visit to Melfort village and again a very enjoyable experience despite the rain, rain and rain again. Made good use of the adults hours at the on site swimming pool ,Enjoyable night at the music night on Monday in the bar/restaurant. Lovely scenery tempted us out and about with raincoat at the ready so sampled some of the village tearooms most days. Our accommodation was extremely well equipped so self catering a pleasure in the roomy kitchen area. There is a lot of thought given to childrens needs ,large outdoor playing area, equipment available for games,a playroom and a games room for older kids (and parents). We will be happy to return to Melfort on another occasion and recommend to couples and families.

Comfortable stay in peaceful location
We stayed in Coachmans East, which is a first floor apartment above the maintenance store. It's spacious, comfortable and well fitted out and is a real sun trap - we had to turn the heating off completely and open the windows when it was about 16 degrees outside but sunny. The log burner in the cottage never got used. Staff were very friendly and the welcome meeting very useful as a guide to the area (although to our regret we never did manage to visit all the superb cafes in the area). The pool is nice, but you can't really have more than 4 people doing lengths or it gets a bit tight. The bar is bright and looks recently decorated - the food is excellent and portions on the large size when eating in (the Balmoral chicken a particular highlight). There are several walks from the door and a handy leaflet is provided for these. We'd recommend the higher level walks (5 and 7) for stunning views out over the islands (on a good day). May is the best time to see the local gardens with their rhododendrons out in full bloom - Arduaine (4 miles away) was superb (and very busy). A car is really required to see the area - we took trips out to Loch Awe and Kilmartin as well as Arduaine. The nearest main shop is in Oban although the village shop in Kilmelford is in walking distance and does the essentials (really nice biscuits!). This was our first trip here and we intend to come back.

April Stay at Melfort Village
Thoroughly enjoyed our week's stay at Melfort Village. Nothing was too much trouble for them. The restaurant was excellent both for food and service. Would highly recommend a visit here.
