About this property

Walled Garden Mews 2 - a mews cottage that sleeps 6 guests in 2 bedrooms

Set in a secluded sunny corner, the Walled Garden Cottages are within the walls of the old Melfort Estate walled garden and approximately 500 yards from the Inner Village.

The Walled Garden has 10 “mews style” two-bedroom cottages and one two-bedroom first floor apartment with each cottage enjoying views over the beautiful gardens and overlooking Loch Melfort to the South . There are plenty of car parking spaces at the rear of the building, with car parking for visitors provided immediately outside the garden entrance. A small leisure area is situated in the centre of the building which houses a sauna and games room with table tennis, snooker and darts – there is also a small laundry, public phone and communal deep freeze.

Entrance to each cottage is at the rear of the building, through the hall which has a drying/coat storage area. Leading from the hall is the open-plan sitting room, dining area and kitchen, shower room with large walk-in shower, and the master bedroom with en-suite bathroom. Stairs lead to the mezzanine balcony/games, sleeping area and first floor twin bedroom.

Each cottage has its own private patio opening from the dining area, and onto the communal gardens.

School week

This is the second time we have stayed in walled garden.cottage no. 2. My two grandchildren love it but.I think maybe it could.do with a.wee freshen.up. On the other hand I cannot praise your customer service highly enough, especially one of your reception staff named Alwyn. She was the nicest , most helpful lady I have ever come across. I will definitely be back .

Melfort Village Mews

Originally we were concerned as it seemed off the beaten track, but shouldn’t have been as it was lovely. Some coffee and tea in the cottage would have been handy as the shop in the village wasn’t open, and more particularly as the restaurant was closed. We had to travel quite a distance to get our breakfast coffee as I’d forgotten to take coffee and tea with us. The biggest disappointment was the lack of a restaurant, it was quite short notice and certainly impacted on our holiday. We would go back again though. Lovely setting.

1st family holiday

Margaret and the entire team at Melfort Village really made our holiday for us. It is the 1st time that we have been away with our baby and we were worried about how it would go. I couldn't fault how friendly, accommodating, unintrusive and helpful the staff were. Even as we were walking around the site the gardener stopped to say good morning. This site achieves it's motto in every way "A world away from your own". Thank you again for such a wonderful holiday.

Hob needs updating.

Nice property in nice location We have now stayed in Walled Garden 10,6 and 2.and feel that the fridge/freezer is not big enough. An ideal place for a new large fridge/freezer would be in the broom cupboard on the left side of the cooker. We are both looking forward to staying in Melfort Village again next year.

Cottage warm and cosy, very well equipped

Unfortunately our stay coincided with Storm Gareth and this curtailed outdoor activities. Staff were very helpful. Cottage provided all required during our stay. Would certainly stay in area again and Melfort if available. WiFi was good and able to stream movies etc.

February battery recharge

I booked at Melfort to have a week with my Dad. He has just finished cancer treatment and has a few weeks to wait for results. This break was to help take his mind off things and put my mind at rest that he was coping. The communication with the Staff before and during our stay was great. WG2 is in great condition and very clean upon arrival. We used the pool, sauna and spa pool 6 days out of 7 a great way to relax. I had brought 1 of my dogs along and it was a great suprise to have a welcome pack with treats and a toy included, another thoughtful touch. Cant wait to return with my wife and our Kayaks!! Thanks to everyone for making our stay so relaxing.

Relaxing and enjoyable experience

Found Melfort Village a lovely place which was relaxing and enjoyable despite the rain. Overall highly recommend it as a good place to stay as its location for me was ideal to explore the area . The added bonus was the welcome and helpful staff who are great plus the accommodation is fab. The only critique which was a small irritant was the fuel cost for use of heating lighting and cooking etc as you don't know the full amount until your last day. Would I come back again definitely without hesitation.

Beautiful scenery, helpful staff

We had a great break at Melfort holiday village, even though it poured 6 days out of 7! Although we were told it was unusual to get that much rain. The cottage in the walled garden was like a home from home, there was even a food processor, if we fancied doing some baking. The bed was comfortable and the quilt was lovely and cosy, although there was a throw too, just in case we got cold. There are books, jigsaws, cards, chess, draughts and backgammon to keep you amused if the tv isn't your thing. There are secure enclosed fields for the dogs to run around in. The staff are so friendly, pleasant and helpful and can't do enough for you. Nothing is too much trouble! We had a lovely night listening to music with Olwyn and friends in the Shower of Herrings on site.

Lovely Accommodation

Lovely accommodation in beautiful surroundings. Very well equipped with all mod cons provided. Dog friendly with dog welcome box supplying dog bowls, toy and treats even poop bags ! Also perfect place for families. Not great if you want to sit out in peace and quiet on patio as depending on when you visit eg school holiday period can have lots of kids running around . Not usually a problem but due to close proximity of units in walled garden 2 can be a bit loud particularly if have swing ball game provided by parents ! Perhaps management should not allow ball games in communal garden area out of consideration for other guests and have a designated outside play area.

A wonderful and relaxing holiday

We so enjoyed our week at Melfort Village. The setting is stunning yet peaceful. The staff arranged top notch activities/experiences which we loved - and we were pleased to have taken their great suggestions for day trips in the area. The fine dining experience at Melfort House was outstanding - both for the dining itself and the great conversations with Matthew and the other guests. We also loved the tour of Dunolle Castle and our morning walks around the Loch. The only negative of the stay was the lack of adequate heating in the unit in the evenings. The system - which heats overnight when the electricity is less expensive - is at its coolest during the hours we were most likely to be in the unit and needing the heat. It's something to be aware of/prepared for if your visit falls in the colder months.

Lovely week at Melfort Village

We love going to this resort. The situation is on the coastal area of the West of Scotland, and the views are beautiful. The staff are cheerful and helpful, and we enjoyed the musical evening, and the on-site restaurant. All in all a lovely week. Thanks once again.

Great place for young family

We have now stayed at Melfort Village twice and intend to return. It is great for families with young children as the facilities are ideal in size and location. We love the tranquillity of the village along with the excellent customer care at all times.

Nice and comfortable place to stay

The only real criticism I can think of is the poor condition of the 1.5 M access road to Melfort Village. In all other respects it is a very nice place to stay with the family.

Amazing Olwen helped make our stay truly memorable!

Having stayed in Oban area before we thought we knew what we were coming to. We were wrong. Melfort Village is idyllic and very family friendly. Not only that but it is situated in a beautiful and relatively quiet part of Argyll which felt quite undiscovered. In fact, it would probably have remained undiscovered by us if it were not for Melfort's treasure, Olwen who works at the village. She welcomed us so warmly and gave us some great hints and tips about where to go for wildlife spotting even before we had our first night's sleep! I heartily recommend the morning welcome meeting - there was no discussion at ALL about time share sales - it was all about where to go, things to see, good walks etc. Thanks a million Olwen. We didn't get to go everything so we will have to come back but we saw so much in such a short space of time. Olwen arranged a boat trip on the Farsain from Cruibh Haven with Duncan. What an incredible 3 hours and worth every single penny and more! We saw dolphins, 3 sea eagles, ravens nesting, guillemots, gannets, razorbills, feral goats and so much more incl the correyvreckan. Oh and I should say, the accomodation in Melfort was great too with everything we needed and a great swimming pool. I think we were out more than we were in but it was just what we needed and the kids made friends too.

Environment

Great to get away to quiet surroundings and lots of woodland walks. The Mews was great to stay in very comfortable and brilliant views. Nothing too much bother for the staff. The environment at Melfort was very relaxing. Would recommend to family and friends.
