We loved our stay here; Ruth was very friendly and welcoming and had left a box of welcome gifts, including treats for our dog, which were all very much appreciated. The cottage was spotless, comfortable and well equipped, and close to many beautiful areas to explore. The hot tub was the perfect finishing touch to ensure we went home feeling very relaxed. We will definitely be back! Thank you
Just got back from our stay. The cottage was in a quiet rural location. Well located for visits to local beauty spots and the coast if you have a car.
The cottage was clean and well equipped. The hosts made us feel really welcome and are just next door if you need anything. We took our 2 dogs and they enjoyed playing in the large back garden which is secure. Would definitely recommend and return
Our second visit to this quaint cottage, just big enough for two plus dog. Lovely private hot tub and upstairs deck. Plenty of secure space for dogs to run around.
Ruth was a respectful and attentive hostess and we look forward to another visit.
Warm and cosy for a New Year's getaway. Clean and full of character, the location of the cottage is great for the coast, Dorchester and many other interesting places.
Enjoying the hot tub in January is also recommended!
Had a wonderful 2 night stay. We were left a lovely welcome pack, including fresh homemade bread and a bottle of wine. Sat in hot tub looking over the frosty fields in perfect peace & quiet, other than the wildlife. We will be back.
If quirky, cute & remote is what you’re after then look no further. This cottage was an absolute joy to stay in. We stayed here for 4 nights as a mini moon after our wedding and it did not disappoint. Ruth the owner is absolutely lovely to deal with and she made the whole process from booking to check in seamless.
Little added touches of fresh bread and strawberries when we arrived were so lovely and appreciated after a long drive.
Sitting in the hot tub in the evening was amazing after a long day sight seeing.
All in all we had an absolutely fabulous stay at Hedera Cottage and cannot recommend it enough. Thank you for having us stay in your beautiful home.

Amazing cottage, really friendly and welcoming hosts. Stunning location with everything we could of asked for with a little bit more. Our dog loved the stay as he met new friends and had a great safe and secure space to run around in. Local beaches are 15 mins away with local shops around 3-4 minutes drive was perfect.
Probably the best UK holiday we have had in years. A lovely location. Hot tub a great bonus. Ruth and Mike were attentive without being intrusive and very keen to ensure we had a good time. Probably the best welcome pack we’ve ever had! Dog friendly, so our Ziggie had a great time
It was a brilliant experience as we both had never been to Dorset before.
The cottage was amazing and the view from the balcony was stunning.
Loved the added touches of the complimentary slippers and dressing gowns. We had also been provided with a complimentary bottle of wine and snacks when we arrived.
The hot tub was bigger then we expected which was an added bonus!!
The only small issue I guess we had, would of been not being able to arrive at the cottage sooner then 4pm.
Overall a great experience and we would 100% stay there again.
Thank you for letting us enjoy the amazing cottage. Hope to see you soon.

Simply perfect we had an amazing time. Ruth and Mike are wonderful hosts and Ruth could not do enough for you. On arrival she gave us a wonderful welcome with yummy goodies, perfect after a long drive. Would definitely go back again thank you so very much for taking care of us at your beautiful home x
I have only positive feedback on my stay as the cottage was absolutely perfect for a long weekend away. My puppy had an incredible time in the garden all weekend as it was perfectly secure and plenty of space for her to run and play whilst I sat in the hot tub. Our hosts Ruth and Mike were incredibly welcoming and we arrived to freshly baked bread, wine and snacks which was completely unexpected but just added to the wonderful experience of our stay.
Thank you Ruth and Mike, we will definitely be back.
We have just stayed at Hedera Cottage for a few nights for my partners birthday and we were very pleased. Ruth is a great host and we couldn’t have asked for more! Everything we needed was provided to us and the location is perfect if you want to just relax and do your own thing. We will definitely stay here again 😊
The property was described by the owner Ruth as quirky, and it was in a lovely way! It had plenty of character and the views were superb across the fields. The hot tub was a lovely bonus, and we would thoroughly recommend it. Even our dogs enjoyed their stay! Moreton itself doesn't have too much in the way of things to do, but the again it was a great location not far away from places like the Tank Museum, Monkey World, Lulworth Cove and so on. Even Poole is just a 25 minute drive away.
What a lovely cottage. We both loved stay here just the relaxing time we needed. Thank you Ruth and Mike for making our stay amazing. Couldn't of helped us enough with places to go. Can't wait to come back and see you again. Faye, Tom Bryan and Winston of course x
We were met by Ruth and Mike at their Beautiful cottage. This is so much more than just a holiday let. Their touch on arrival was amazing with home made bread, milk scones, fresh strawberries, little treats and a bottle of wine.
The Cottage is stunning with nice views of open fields, comfy bed and covered hot tub, which we spent every night in star gazing and listening to the owls. Ideally located for days out to local landmarks and the coast.
Really enjoyed our time in Dorset, it was just shame it went to quick.

We really enjoyed our stay here, the nice touch of fresh garden flowers, some treats, a homemade loaf and a bottle of wine were so unexpected and much enjoyed! We did lots of walking and enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub when we got back to the cottage. It was a very safe and secure property with excellent hosts.
Ruth & Mike are brilliant hosts, nothing is to much bother. Beautiful thatched cottage with all amenities including hot tub, really peaceful atmosphere and surroundings, lovely views from hot tub and 1st floor decked area (ideal for breakfast watching the sun rise). 11/10 well done Ruth &Mike take care. Amazing place for a nice getaway, ideal for taking a dog too as there’s lots of safe and secure space they can roam free outside the property. Extremely clean and tidy inside and lovely gifts left out on arrival. Lot’s of really nice places to visit in the surround area also. Couldn’t recommend a better place for couples to have a relaxing break. Lovely and helpful owners that greet you on arrival to give you a tour, perfect all round.

About the host
Hosted by Ruth Turnbull
A little about us - Mike and Ruth. Our home Hedera Cottage is attached to Godwin's Cottage. Mike has lived here for a good many years and has worked long and hard on updating the cottages and grounds. It was in need of a bit of TLC when he took it on. He is a digital marketeer by trade and can be found a lot of the time sat at the kitchen table drinking masses of coffee tapping away on his keyboard. Ruth joined Mike a while ago after moving back to the UK after working in France for 17 years running a large Chateau. Furry Friends - Lulu an elderly black Labrador that is the Head of the family, Gordie another black Lab who likes to think he is head of the family and Harley our soft and loving Irish Wolfhound and Percy & Mayzee, 2 black cats who look down in disdain at the silly dogs. The garden is partitioned off so the animals will not disturb you, but are more than happy to play with new friends if you would like that. Occasionally the 2 daughters of the family return, normally when in need of a roast dinner or a bank balance top up. At the moment they are working hard and travelling the world.
Why they chose this property
Godwins is a place where you can totally unwind and relax. The property is edged by Laurel hedges at the front, surrounded by it's own grounds, approximately 2 acres and edged by open fields at the back and a horse paddock at the bottom of the garden. It is totally secluded and peaceful. All you tend to hear is the night time hooting of the owls, the morning song of the birds, the occasional bark of a deer (or dog!) and the whirring of the pheasant as he and his partner like to feed from our bird table ! So although being able to get into the hustle and bustle of the towns and tourists down the road, it is a haven to come back to in the evening and relax.
What makes this property unique
With the Cottages being approximately 300 years old and thatched, they are the quintessential aspect of the English countryside. They have masses of history. The property was the Estate Managers home for years and years. We have added to Godwin's a spectacular roof terrace which comes off the bedroom as we think it is an ideal place for a morning breakfast and some rest time and absolutely amazing for star-gazing and watching summer storms or watch the young Tawny Owls learning to fly from the roof terrace. The added addition of the Hot Tub in the garden adds a little more space to unwind and relax.
