The cottage was very comfortable and in a great location overlooking the canal. We enjoyed sitting outside watching the boats go passed. We found plenty of walks, some from the towpath and others just a short drive away. Chris, the owner, managed to make made us feel very welcome even with 'social distancing'. He has also done a great job ensuring the cottage is as 'covid safe' as possible. Thanks to all his hard work we were able to have our holiday which we thoroughly enjoyed. Out the drive, across the road and you are straight onto a well maintained tow path. I walked over 6 miles of the tow path from the cottage and the majourity is tarmac. The real coal fire is very easy to light and it really make the room warm.

A great little cottage, clean and welcoming. Lovely welcome gifts of flowers, chocolates, biscuits and milk off Chris. Location is fantastic right on the canal with a area to sit and watch the barges go by. Also a nice back garden it still and chill in the sunshine. Overall an amazing 3 night break away. Would definitely return.

We have visited "The White Cottage " many times over the last ten years. Each time we have found Chris and his mum, Barbara, to be friendly and welcoming. Not intrusive but there if we need some assistance. If one wants a peaceful holiday in an ideal location then this is it !

Great little cottage, with a good location on the canal.
Great little cottage, with a good location on the canal. Cottage has everything you need for a comfortable stay, added bonus of a small garden for the dog. Very little in the immediate village, two pubs and a fish and chip shop, but there is no general store. However, a half hour walk along the towpath or short drive you find Whaley Bridge with shops. So much to do in the area, from energetic walks in the peaks, or strolls in the many pretty villages or Dales.

We booked this cottage very last minute and were very grateful Chris was able to fit us in! We didn't actually meet our hosts during our stay but we knew they must be about from the kind treats they left for the children, the welcome note, the way the bins were sorted on collection day... The forecast was grim for the week so we had swopped our camping plan for a cottage at the last minute. It turned out to be a lovely sunny dry week and so we enjoyed lots of canal walks and trips to local towns and villages. Tesco is about a 20 Min stroll down the canal path with children in tow. Plenty to see on the way to keep everyone moving. The cottage itself was spotless and once you get your head around the slightly quirky layout it works really well. I loved sitting on the sunny terrace watching the boats go by. There is also a little self contained garden with patio furniture which is great for dogs and children to go in and out safely. All the equipment we needed was there and working well. Thank you for a great week and if you had anything to do with the change in weather, thanks for that too!!

Lovely cottage, on the canal.
Lovely cottage, on the canal. We booked this cottage because it was dog friendly, as was the pub some 50 yards away, good walks along the canal. Train station 30 yards away, 3 miutes into Whaley Bridge for pubs shops and take aways. We opened the door to a roaring coal fire, fantastic owner who was available any time you needed him but completely respected our privacy. We will definately come back.
