About this property

Large Lake House with Private Beach, Dock, Canoe & Kayak

Loon Lodge was purchased in the spring of 2016 and renovated to be family friendly, open, and comfortable! We hope you enjoy sharing our Maine getaway! You can see some of the renovation and lake photos on Instagram @LoonLodgeMaine

House: There are 3 bedrooms on the upper floor (master with queen bed, guest room with full bed, and guest bedroom with two twin beds), 3 bathrooms, and a bonus room downstairs with a pullout couch for extra sleeping. Bedrooms also have plenty of room for a pack and play (available), air mattress, etc. Living & dining room have huge windows that overlook the lake as well as a new rustic dining table and huge sectional couch. There is a full kitchen with an eat-in breakfast area and desk. The house has a small deck, 3-season porch, fire pit, and a charcoal grill.. Also, if you're coming with little ones, there is plenty of baby/toddler gear available if needed (bed rails, high chair, toddler dining chair, pack and play, books, games, kids plates/cups/bowls/etc).

Lakefront and Lake Description: Stairs lead from the house down the hill to a private beach area with 4 sections of dock, canoe, paddle boat and kayak available for use (included). Norcross Pond is one mile long with camps and homes along one side only – keeping the lake quiet. Water is clear and the lake has a sandy bottom for great swimming. Speed boats, pontoon boats, and jet skis are allowed, but since the lake is small you don't gets boats out all day. A boat ramp is available if you want to bring your own boat (note, the boat ramp is dirt and steep). The lake is full of bass, perch, and stocked with trout, so bring your fishing rods. There are also nearby places for blueberry picking, hiking, movies, ice cream, restaurants, etc. Fall is wonderful for walking around the lake, hiking at nearby mountains, kayaking, canoeing, and viewing foliage. Winter is perfect for ice fishing (stocked with trout), snowmobiling (trails are next to the lake to get you throughout the Maine trail system), ice skating, and skiing at an array of ski areas within an hour.

Local Things to Do: blueberry/strawberry/apple picking, movie theater, ice cream, lobsters, restaurants, markets, festivals, antique shops, biking, beer garden, and more.

Nearby Excursions: Farmington, Belgrade Lakes, Mount Blue, multiple ski mountains, Sandy River Railroad, DEW Animal Farm, Norlands Living History Center, Golf (Turner Highlands, Sandy River, Wilson Lake, and others), U Maine Farmington events, and more. Lots of excursions (hiking, skiing, ocean, and more) within 1-2 hours.

Relaxing beautiful home
My husband and I travel every year for our anniversary and Laurie was the absolute best owner to work with. There was not one thing we were lacking in the home. The view from the master bedroom was incredible and so comfortable. We had so much fun on the lake and exploring Maine!

Wonderful lake side weekend
Had a great fall weekend. Family of 7, adults and 2 small children. Plenty of toys and games for the whole family. Loved paddling around the pond. House was clean and fully stocked, wanted for nothing. Host family were great to talk to and ready to help if needed. Highly recommend for a quiet, relaxing getaway!

First stop on our week long Maine honeymoon from Michigan. The lodge was the perfect spot to relax and recharge for a few days. Took so many pictures of the beautiful area but nothing beats enjoying it in real life. Thanks for a vacation we'll talk about for many years!

Renewed and refreshed at Loon Lodge
Perfect get-away to reconnect with spouses and friends! Loon Lodge is spacious, clean and well-maintained. Thoroughly enjoyed perfectly sized and quiet Norcross Pond for the kayak, canoe, raft (provided) and paddle board (we brought). Regardless of the weather, it’s still a great place to stay! Looking forward to renting again next year!

Thank you first of all for sharing this home. The two things for us is the windows in kitchen and cellar should have dark curtains for privacy at night. The chairs by the fire pit looked like they were front of the pond, but were up levels. Maybe sitting area at the bottom also. Once again beautiful cabin.

A Beautiful Lakeside Home!
My family used to rent from this same family in the 60’s & we’ve always wanted to go back. The house is lovely with a great view of Norcross Pond. It’s a graded trail down to the lake. Super dock & beach! Three baths here, and really 2 living room areas. Great kitchen, comfy beds and a huge dining table. Can’t wait to get back to the call of the loons!

Perfect family get away!
We had such an amazing week at Loon Lodge. From the moment we pulled in to the driveway, the pond just drew you in. The house was just as welcoming, with the amazing views from the living area and master bedroom. The house was clean and had just about everything we could think of: plenty of books & games for the restful times (in addition to Netflix and dvds), and the kayak, canoe and paddle boat were enjoyed by all of us. Plenty of room for us all to be together, but also have a little space with the lower level area. And hanging out on the dock fishing was so great, both my boys caught their first fish, adding to the magic of the week. Looking forward to when we can visit again!

A home away from home
The house was very well equipped, especially the kitchen. We enjoyed the lovely view of the lake, we slept well, we were able to use it as a base to visit other places in Maine. We found the steps down to the lake hard for us because between us we have 2 knee replacements and 2 hip replacements. If the weather had been warmer I don't think I would have minded, but it was cool out and the lake water was cold so. The beds were very comfortable. We were surprised at the amount of traffic on the small road in front of the house, but there was enough room to walk our dog on the side of the road. We had a very enjoyable week at Loon Lodge.

Mainer loves this pristine Maine lakeside treehouse
Ok it’s not really a treehouse...but it is a beautiful three story lakeside four season cabin. My best friend and I just got to break in our new kayaks on the lovely pond, and the husband and adventurous teen could join us with couple of nice boats provided. We fished, watched sunsets, and had several awesome campfires with s’mores and sparklers and the stars, moon and the hollow, ethereal calls of the loons over the lake. This house is beautifully and tastefully equipped for comfy get-togethers with friends and family; we have teens but I do remember how much stuff you need for babies and wee ones. This house has everything from feeding to bedding to tons of toys and books. Loved it here and hope to come back someday to make more lakeside memories.

Clean, relaxing with everything we needed.
Couldn't have asked for a better spot for the price - we had plenty of room for the kids to run around, 2 couples to have their space. Beach has wadable water without a drop off; great for kids. The kids loved fishing off the dock or from the paddle boat.

Why they chose this property

We purchased this house in the spring of 2016 for our family to enjoy. We live in NH have two little kids who love the lake, boating, ice fishing, etc. We also will use it as our home base for ski days at Sugarloaf, Saddleback, Sunday River, and Mt. Abram. Laurie grew up in Maine and spent summers on this lake (right next door to this house) her entire life. Her parents now live on the lake year round and her grandparents and uncle are here all summer as well. When this house became available, we couldn't pass up the chance to have our own piece of Maine life. Laurie's family has been summering here since her grandfather bought some lake homes here after returning from WWII and the lake is full of families who live here year round or return year after year. We are so excited to share this wonderful lake with other families since we know we just can't use it all summer due to work, activities, travel, etc!

What makes this property unique

Norcross Pond is only one mile long, which makes it the ideal size for all activities. It's easy for families with kids to enjoy boating, kayaking, fishing, etc - and you can still see them no matter how far they go! Also, with the other side remaining wooded property, every house looks out over the lake with a view the trees along the other side. The lake is also a wonderful fishing spot, with bass, perch , and stocked trout as well. In the winter, you can ice fish, snowmobile to the maine trail system, ice skate, and snowshoe as well.
