Lovely house with enough room for 10 adults 3 children and two toddlers.
Lovely house with enough room for 10 adults 3 children and two toddlers. Rooms are clean, plenty of wc’s and a large kitchen. The owner was very friendly and accommodating. Could it be improved on? Yes. We struggled with the hot water, very poor water pressure when more than one tap was running at a time (plan your showers). The outside games room had no light or heating so no use at night. Dogs are allowed but the rear Garden is not enclosed so had to keep them on the lead all the time and possible an extra tv in one of the other room would of help keep the children entertained at times. Minor things in comparison to a very enjoyable weekend. The house heating was fantastic and I would definitely visit again. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

The owner Gordon was very friendly and welcoming and very knowledgable about the area.
The owner Gordon was very friendly and welcoming and very knowledgable about the area. Rascal Wood was full of surprises the bedrooms are spacious although the top floor 2 bedrooms are not meant for tall people, but the children had great fun up there - it was their space whilst still being large enough to fit 4 adults as long as you pull the beds off the wall so you don't bump you head on the sloping roofs. The glass floor / ceiling was a boost and let a lot of light down through the whole of the hallways below. The views from all of the bedroom windows was amazing. The dining room was everything you need for 14 people to comfortably sit for formal dining, we were just missing a butler to serve us. The breakfast bar in the kitchen also comfortably fitted 10 people around for socialising whilst preparing lunch. There was a larger sitting room with 3 settees comfortable for 9 to sit - and the games room fit 6 to play card games or just relax. If there was a downside some of the fixtures were slightly broken i.e. toilet seats / leaking toilet in family bathroom, the crockery (Cups and Plates) were chipped which need to be replaced but there was still ample crockery to accommodate 14 people therefore the broken plates cups knives and forks should be removed and the fittings repaired or replaced. Never the less I think Rascal Wood was good value for your money and perfect for family occasions. I would recommend it without a doubt. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Overall we loved this property as it is in a lovely rural setting and a great place for a break away from it all. The house was perfect for our needs (a crafting get together) and was very well equipped. The rooms were all a good size and it was just what we were looking for. Our only criticism was the water pressure as the top floor barely got any water at all which is far from ideal. We did a lot of cooking over the weekend and the ovens are of variable quality but overall it was a smashing venue and we will definitely be returning. Thank you. Lovely house - great size and fab garden.
Lovely house - great size and fab garden. Only thing we'd say was that one of the top attic rooms could have done with a lick of paint as there were marks all over the sloping roof. And though it was clean, it the kitchen had a bit of a youth hostel whiff about it! The games room was well equipped, but a bit rough around the edges with darts missing from the board. The good thing about the games room was that it was away from the adults, so the teenagers felt like they had their own space. We had a great time though and I would recommend it to other families.

We were a group of young adults on a cancer retreat weekend and had a thoroughly enjoyable break. The house is remote but what we were after, however the local village is a couple of miles away where there is a small shop and a pub. The house was great plenty of space and a well equipped kitchen when cooking for 14 people. The house has stunning views and the owners were friendly, welcoming and happy to share local knowledge. We really enjoyed our stay.

A great venue but could have been perfect.
A great venue but could have been perfect. There’s plenty of space at Rascal wood in a lovely secluded quiet location. The owner is very friendly and helpful. There’s a well equipped kitchen, spacious lounge (although not enough space for everyone to sit), large dining room/table and large bedrooms and bathrooms. There are a few issues with the property which can easily be rectified and I hope the owner looks at this and does so in the near future to make other stays perfect. Most of us found the mattresses to be past there best so replacing these would have led to a better nights sleep. Cleanliness was overall very good however we found the oven to be full of grease which wasn’t a great start to cooking. One oven didn’t get very hot either. The kitchen floor was quite dirty. I suspect the type of flooring made it difficult to clean, so bring slippers or flip flops. There were also lots of dirty chipped mugs. Also too many signs (some next to each other repeating each other). This has been mentioned in another review but not rectified. The showers were average. One shower didn’t have a workable temperature control so was quite hot but bearable. However when someone else used a shower or bath the other showers were reduced to a dribble or stopped altogether. The washing machine (and stopcock!) were in an external locked plant room so we had to phone the owner to gain access. The bbq was also locked away. Externally there was lovely space, with well looked after lawns etc. However the garden furniture was very poor and some of it dangerous, with some of it falling apart, and dirty. Replacement furniture required! We just used 2 chairs so couldn’t eat outside in the sunshine. No alfresco dining.... The charcoal bbq was functional but we had to be careful moving it as it was falling apart. The games room was basic, with old equipment, but a good space for the kids to escape if they wanted to. However we did enjoy our stay but to come back we’d definitely expect several improvements. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo
