A cosy and peaceful property for a family or couples wanting to get away from the hustle and bustle, whilst retaining the convenience of the nearby A69 for exploring the area. This detached holiday home stands in a stunning location, with wonderful views of the Tyne Valley and North Cumbrian fells. Set in the Northumbrian National Park, the location is excellent for exploring the spectacular scenery of the north of England, the Scottish borderland, and the Lake District, which is just an hour away. The cottage is ideally placed for visiting the Roman forts along the World Heritage Site of Hadrian’s Wall, including Housesteads and Vindolanda, or Chesters where you can explore how the Romans lived. After you have finished donning your toga and training to be a centurion, you can retire to modern day comfort of Hadrian’s Garden Villa, relax in front of the wood burner and look out over the beautiful views in the open plan living space with decorative oak plank flooring. As night draws in, it is worth stepping outside onto the south-facing patio, surrounded by planting and including views over the valley, to enjoy the non-light polluted dark skies and be stunned by all the stars. Complete with plenty of seating and a summerhouse.
There is a number of good golf courses within easy reach, including Hexham, which is described as one of the finest in the north of England, and Brampton which is the ‘jewel in the crown’ of Cumbria. There is storage for your bike at the property, so you can make the most of the local rugged landscapes. The landscape is equally good on foot, or to walk your dog, why not take a wander to Sycamore Gap and see the most photographed, iconic tree from the movie ‘Robin Hood’? On the way back, grab a pint or something to eat at the local inn.
Nearby towns include Hexham, a popular, historic market town which boasts a stunning abbey, the oldest gaol in the country, and an abundance of shops, restaurants and pubs. In addition, why not visit the beautiful Roman town of Corbridge or its fort, browse its boutique shops, art galleries and antique shops, or take a stroll along the river. Also within easy reach is Haltwhistle, the ‘Geographic Centre of Britain’, which has a sports centre and outdoor heated swimming pools, and Burn Gorge. Henshaw, ½ mile, and Hexham, 10 miles. Garage/shop ½ mile, pub and restaurant 1½ miles.

Two dogs welcome, £30 per dog per stay.

A lovely quiet cottage in an excellent location to explore many areas, whether Scotland, north Pennines, Cumbria or Northumberland coast. Every whim had been thought of in the equipment available, including super comfy bed and plenty of towels plus dressing gowns. Books, radio, torches maps, dishwasher, flask and games anything we desired really. Spacious and comfortable this cottage is a place we're already recommending to our friends! A long weekend away
The property was very comfortable and it was lovely that we could take our two dogs. We did a lovely walk along Hadrian's Wall and a walk around part of Kielder water. We had snow on the morning we left but there were plenty of shovels and rock salt to use to get off the drive. All in all a very good long weekend.

Fell in love with this cottage.
Fell in love with this cottage. Very cosy and well equipped with fantastic views. So peaceful and quiet yet close to many attractions e.g. Hadrian's Wall,Vindolanda and the towns of Hexham and Corbridge which are full of history. Loved watching the birds feeding out of the windows, so many different ones. We were met by the owner who was most welcoming. Great welcome pack. Will definitely visit again.

We could not have asked for anymore from Stan and this cottage.
We could not have asked for anymore from Stan and this cottage. We recieved a letter and map from Stan, once I booked and then the key lock was changed and was informed of this directly. The location is amazing and exactly what we wanted. The only thing I would say, which isn’t a negative for us,is that it is very rural! Perfect for us though! The dogs had a bowl and treats each and for the humans a hamper, which was lovely! Stan has created a real home from home with all the commodities he provided, including washing up liquid, (which we forgot), coffee machine, even bird food for the feeders! Also the information file, Stan has created was very helpful! Everything was brilliant, could not find any fault with this cottage!

The Hadrians Garden Villa was very well equipped, there was absolutely everything that you could possibly need. It was in a good location with very good country views and the bird life was fantastic, plus a very cheeky squirrel who helped himself to all the bird food that was available and there was plenty of it, as we needed to fill the feeders every day. One comment I would make is that there was an abundance of leaflets and brochures all over the place promoting the local attractions and places to visit, they occupied space that could be well used for personal items. I think that less would make more space available. This is not a negative comment. The villa was the best equipped of all the cottages we have stayed in and we have stayed in very many. We highly recommend this property and so does our dog Lulu, who enjoyed running around in the garden and the field beyond, she was also very grateful for the Goody Basket that was available for her, she told us that she would be very happy to come back for a longer stay next time. Thanks to Stanley & Shirley for making us very welcome.

The cottage is a good size for two with extensive outside seating. There are 2 pubs within walking distance but some of the tracks are very overgrown. The villa is well equipped and comfortable. We had wonderful weather which was the icing on the cake.

I honestly can't find a single fault with Hadrian's Garden Villa.
I honestly can't find a single fault with Hadrian's Garden Villa. I couldn't have asked for a more perfect stay. The cottage is surprisingly large (a HUGE bedroom!), full of light, with such treats as the woodburner and a summer house, a washing machine and dryer (thank goodness!), a wonderful welcome tray and THE comfiest bed. The location was also spot-on, for me - a mile from Vindolanda (where I was excavating - I highly recommend this spot for any other diggers) and a little under two miles to The Twice Brewed Inn and Hadrian's Wall itself. But the best part of all was, I think, Stan and Shirley - what generous, hospitable guests for whom nothing was too much trouble. I absolutely hope to return - and I think their property must surely be one of the jewels in the crown of the agency's lets; I can't think of a single thing that could have made my stay lovelier. Thank you so much.

This property has everything you could wish for.
This property has everything you could wish for. It is located on a quiet country lane with easy access to Haltwistle and the A69 to Carlisle, Hexham & Newcastle, and the wonderful unspoilt east coast beaches are only an hour or so away. The Villa is very comfortable and superbly equipped. There is a large (safe) garden (ideal for dogs) and magnificent views over to the moors. There are lots of things to do and see. A perfect break at any time of the year. Loved it!

The cottage was perfect for us and our dog.
The cottage was perfect for us and our dog. So often we look at cottages for two and they are smaller or not as comfortable, or if you do want something a bit better so expensive. The views were amazing, the cottage was ideal to come back to after a days walking. The grounds were secure so we could relax when letting the dog out. The only thing - and I’m being picky - was it was a bit of a walk to the nearest pub. We were lucky with the weather so it was perfectly doable for us but I imagine if the weather had not been so good it may have been an issue. Having said that, I was more than happy to sit in the garden with a drink enjoying the views! Thank you for a lovely break, we’d definitely recommend it!
