A great little cottage, on a quiet road near to a farm, plenty of cows and sheep to see out of the window. Very clean, warm and comfortable. Not a lot to do around the village but that's why we liked it, a walk on the beach every day kept the little one happy, a few forest walks around too but bring your wellies! Lots within driving distance if you want to go further afield though. A few things to look out for - the stairs are a little steep which is fine, but the double and twin rooms upstairs are separated by a few steps and a tiny landing at the top of the staircase, so we weren't really comfortable leaving our three year old who likes a nighttime wander in the twin room on his own, so he ended up in with us; and while the dining table was fine for us as a couple with one small child, if you're a bigger family, or three or more adults, you'll probably have to rearrange some of the furniture to get everyone round it. Still had a great time though. :) Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Very comfortable and comfy cottage just off a quiet lane, local amenities consist of a coop and pub - but as we took food and drink with us not a problem, not for you if you want nightlife! Kitchen was very well equipped, best I've stayed in. We loved the peace and in these crazy times we really enjoyed our stay and hope to visit again soon. Oh and lovely beach within 2 miles of the cottage. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

We very much enjoyed our time at Balnowlart Lodge.
We very much enjoyed our time at Balnowlart Lodge. Such a wonderful tranquil location. We enjoyed sitting out on the terrace watching the local wildlife such as red deer, hares and the cows in the field adjacent to the cottage. We found the lodge to be very comfortable and well equipped. Hob was a bit tricky to work out, but luckily found the manual in one of the kitchen draws. Loved the open fire place and enjoyed several fires on cooler evenings. Ballentrae is approx 1.5 miles and is an absolute delight. Enjoyed the stunning beech and views. If you are looking for a peaceful break, then look no further you won't be disappointed Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Beautiful cottage set alone just outside the village.
Beautiful cottage set alone just outside the village. So quiet and peaceful and had everything you could think of to hand. We saw red deer in the field opposite every day along with other wildlife all around the cottage. There was a small issue with the broadband which Marti the owner was super quick and happy to help with, amazing owner and really helpful! We would recommend this place to anyone, the village is local and has everything you can think of. Was a perfect base for the Galloway National Dark sky park (although the sky from the cottage was amazing also) and lots of other days out we enjoyed including Culzean Castle and Portpatrick to name a couple more. Loved it and we hope to go back next year!
