Our stay in Fort Augustus
This is the second time we have stayed at Ardgay in Fort Augustus. The location is perfect for exploring the west coast of Scotland. The accommodation is just beside the Caledonian canal and it’s great to see the boats going through the lochs into Loch Ness. A lovely location with lots of things to do.

This apartment is exactly as described in the brochure.
This apartment is exactly as described in the brochure. It is well equipped and very comfortable. During the current pandemic we were a bit concerned about cleanliness but we need not have worried. The apartment was absolutely spotless and cleaning and sanitising liquids were provided. Although very near the canal and the village centre which can be busy, the apartment is very quiet and the garden areas to both the front and rear are relaxing. Seating is provided in both areas of garden. There are lovely walks and the scenery is stunning. The shops, restaurants and cafes in the village are good quality and prices of everything are reasonable. We would go back to Ardgay. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Our second time at Ardgay we were very pleased to find the welcome gift and to meet one of the owners this time. The cottage is in an ideal position for walking. We had a relaxing time also happy to find that the food and company at the Lock Inn was just as good as we remembered. It’s great to find someplace that’s really dog friendly.

Just visited Ardgay for the second time and again enjoyed the comfort it provides. Warm and homely and the perfect place to come back to after a long day in the Hills, a bracing bike ride along the Caledonian Canal or a leisurely trip along Loch Ness. Fort Augustus is also the perfect base for people wanting to get out and about into the dramatic landscape of the area. It's a beautifully clean and well looked after ground floor flat and a credit to its owners. There is Idyllic scenery around Fort Augustus and the local friendly pubs, restaurants and cafes are perfect during a stroll around town or to relax in the evening. I would wholeheartedly recommend this holiday home to anyone looking for a trip to the Scottish Highlands.

A great place to stay, has everything you need, a place to relax after a walk in the area. Or if you opt for a slow day, just walk out of the door and watch the boats navigating the locks. The cottage is lovely; on a rainy day (and we've had those) it's big enough to stay home for a day. As second cottage on our two-week holiday, it was great to know beforehand that it has a washing machine: less clothes to take with us, since we knew we could do some washing here. Really just a lovely place to stay for a week.

Really fantastic holiday accommodation.
Really fantastic holiday accommodation. Spotlessly clean and well stocked with all sorts of useful things, enjoyed watching the DVDs on a rainy day and a lovely welcome with wine and biscuits. The location is great by the canal and only a short walk to pubs, restaurant, take away and loch ness and boat trips. Plenty of forest walks nearby as well. Also the flat is more spacious than it appears in the photos. Would definetely recommend if you want to stay in the area.

Lovely place.
Lovely place. Clean, comfortable and warm. Didn't feel old and saggy like many holiday cottages I've rented. Smashing welcome pack. Pets welcomed and my dog seemed to love it. Central for the whole of the Highlands, within 6 miles you can be heading to all points of the compass. Central to plenty local walks and more strenuous hillwalking. The owners have put a lot of time and effort into this place. I would definitely book again.

The cottage wants for nothing. We arrived slightly early and met Mr Stewart who was very welcoming and reiterated to contact them if we had any issues. Inside they provided a nice welcoming gift and it was a home from home with everything provided. Have already recommended and would return.

Ardgay is close to the Caledonian Canal, constantly interesting as a stream of boats of all shapes and sizes makes it way through the staircase of locks. Fort Augustus is a good central location for visits to the lochs and glens nearby and the Forestry Commission provides excellent information on walks in the area. We walked part of General Wade's Road, visited Glen Affric, made a trip to Skye and on another day to Cawdor Castle and Fort George. Ardgay was a warm, well equipped comfortable place to return to.
