Idyllic Location
The cottage was set in lovely grounds which was lit up on a night with strings of lights which gave it a magical look. There was a small pond and plenty of birds which could be seen from the large bedroom window, a larger pond was located further within the grounds. Being a bungalow it was perfect for my elderly mother. It was lovely and warm and cosy. The welcome pack was very generous. There was plenty of space to park at the front of the mill. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

Lovely cottage, lovely hosts.
Lovely cottage, lovely hosts. Great location. Very tight for parking if you have a big vehicle. I did ok with primera Saloon. Two pubs walking distance, only one open on Mon Tues. Indians. fish and chip shop, only open between 5pm to 7pm. Great private area with outside table and chairs and more outside in grounds. Grounds lit up at night...looks cool. Recommended.

Really comfortable homely cottage in truly beautiful grounds.
Really comfortable homely cottage in truly beautiful grounds. Well equipped cottage with lovely extras including a generous welcome basket. There really was everything we could have needed. Fabulous location for visiting York, Castle Howard, Lavender Farm and the beautiful Yorkshire coastline. It was my mother’s first holiday since her cancer left her disabled and the cottage was perfect for her mobility problems. Paul and Maggi could not have been more welcoming and helpful. We had a fabulous break and will happily return again.

A great place to stay in a very picturesque part of Britain.
A great place to stay in a very picturesque part of Britain. Maggi and Paul couldn't do enough for us and made us really welcome. The cottage, although small, was warm, well equipped and comfortable, and we had access to the grounds and to a walled area that would be fabulous on a summer's evening. We would definitely return and wouldn't hesitate to recommend.

Lovely cottage with excellent facilities.
Lovely cottage with excellent facilities. The grounds are beautiful with plenty of private places to sit. The private garden is a sun trap for late afternoon drinks and barbecues. The hamper provided by Paul and Maggie was both a surprise and delight. The cottage was well supplied with everything you will need. We are regular cottage users and to have extra supplies of shower gel, shampoo, toilet rolls, tea, coffee etc was thoughtful and unusual. The owners are lovely people who can’t do enough to make your stay enjoyable. There is plenty to do locally and beyond. Recommend.

Loved our stay at Mill Cottage.
Loved our stay at Mill Cottage. We were a family of 4 including 2 older teenagers, and found the cottage had ample room for us all. The weather was fantastic so made use of the gorgeous gardens, and the fire pit too. Hosts Paul and Maggi made us feel very welcome, and the hamper was a lovely surprise. The cottage is a perfect base for exploring the area. York is only 10 miles away. We travelled over to Whitby, and also the other direction along to Grassington, Pately bridge area without any hassle. Would definitely love to come back again.

We booked this cottage for my husbands 40th as a surprise.
We booked this cottage for my husbands 40th as a surprise. There was 2 couples and had the most amazing time. The cottage is magical and gives the right amount of village life combined with city of York! The village has 2 pubs/bars serving food plus an Indian restaurant/takeaway, local Shop and chip shop. About 15 min walk to the pub and bus stop where you can get the local bus in to York. The hosts paul and Maggi are exceptional. There is thought in everything they do and the well stocked welcome hamper in a nice touch. Even the bathroom has a selection of shampoos and shower gels! We have made some great memories here and will definitely be back.
