This is a lovely stone cottage in an idyllic location for those wanting a week to "get-away-from-it all" (and no mobile coverage) and walk the surrounding hills from the doorstep. The house is functionally fine and complete, though the lounge furniture wasn't that comfortable, there seemed to be a damp atmosphere in the front first-floor bedroom and there was a continous supply of annoying small flies in the kitchen; we never tracked down their origin. The broadband worked OK. If you want lots of amenities nearby this isn't the house for you, but fine for us as we took everything with us. Apart from the day-time traffic on the "Honister" circuit, the noisiest thing around is the sheep :-) After a "Covid-scar" visit to Keswick heaving with people, not all behaving sensibly, we were very glad to return to this homely refuge in Borrowdale. Not perfect but recommended nevertheless, location being the major plus. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

This was our second stay at Brasscam which we chose for its situation, close to some excellent hill walking. Our only gripe is the sitting room furniture which isn't very comfortable for relaxing evenings after a full day's walking; otherwise the cottage was perfect for our needs: lots of hot water, good baths and a more than adequate kitchen. Very nice property, plenty of space, especially in the top floor bedroom and en-suite.
Very nice property, plenty of space, especially in the top floor bedroom and en-suite. Bear in mind that its (fabulous) location means that local amenities (apart from nearby hotels and cafe) are some distance away but there is an excellent bus service. Two issues with cleanliness. (1) main bedroom carpet was covered in (mainly human) hair (of different colours - suggesting not just immediately prior occupants). The cylinder vacuum cleaner in the property was not up to the task of removing them (our first task on arrival). (2) the verandah / boot room had a substantial amount of cobwebs in the corners suggesting that it is overlooked when cleaning.

A wonderful place! Well equipped, walks of all types on the doorstep, lamb at the pub in Stonethwaite, warm ginger pudding at the Grange café. That's why we've been coming back for the last 20 years.
