Tottlebank is ideally located and suited for both those seeking a relaxing holiday away from the "madding crowd" and those looking to explore the tourist attractions of the Central Lakes. It is a superb base for local, woodland and fell walks, many of which can be reached without the need for a car.Tottlebank is a delightful, individually designed spacious 3 bedroom terraced property on three levels, situated in the prestigious Falls area which is a short walk from Ambleside centre - less than 500 meters, so no need to drive! It overlooks Stockghyll, an area of pretty woodland and tumbling waterfalls cascading from Red Screes above, to Ambleside and the lake below. In summer, with the windows open, the river provides a pleasant background noise to lull you to sleep. The Falls are set in one and a half acres of landscaped grounds on the former site of the old Bobbin Mill. The original buildings have been converted to luxury cottages and apartments with the addition of new accommodation built in the same slate and stone to blend sympathetically into the area. Ambleside a short walk away, still retains its unique atmosphere whilst offering a fantastic variety of shops, including an old style bookshop, numerous cafés, pubs and eateries and two cinemas for those less sunny days. There are also numerous activities as well as a wonderfully picturesque small park with beautiful views and children’s playground on the banks of the Rothay river. There is also easy access to the northern shore of Lake Windermere and the ruins of the Roman Fort at Waterhead. Tottlebank is decorated and furnished to a high standard with meticulous attention to detail, incorporating every modern convenience to make your stay as enjoyable as possible. Shop, pub and restaurant ½ mile.

This is a very comfortable and spacious apartment.

This is a very comfortable and spacious apartment. The kitchen was well equipped and we cooked several times. We enjoyed the location, just out of the centre of Ambleside - a few minutes walk. Close to shops, good pubs and cafés. We used it as a base for excellent walks and trail runs, such as up Wanfell Pike. The parking is ok for two cars, as long as you don't have a massive car. The only gripe is the washing machine, which did not work and there was no warning not to use it. So we did try to use it and ended up with wet, unwashed clothes. We tried to report this problem but could never get through on the phone. Still, we had a lovely stay. The top bedroom was huge with a huge bed and ensuite bathroom. This was our second visit to Tottle Bank.

This was our second visit to Tottle Bank. The property has plenty of space and the quality of the furnishings is high, the beds are very comfy too. The kitchen is well equipped and there is plenty of crockery so that you don't have to put the dishwasher on after every meal. Parking for 2 cars is a bonus too. It's just a short walk into Ambleside town center where you will find a good range of shops (outdoor clothing, gifts etc), pubs and restaurants. There is a small play park nearby and an excellent one within Rothay Park.

We loved Tottle Bank, it is a lovely place to stay.

We loved Tottle Bank, it is a lovely place to stay. It is well equipped and very clean and comfortable. The location is perfect and the sound of the waterfall is very soothing. The only thing I can think of to improve it is to have TVs in the two main bedrooms so the kids can play their games or watch someti g different from the adults. It is a very minor point though.
