Comfortable clean and great location for walking.

Comfortable clean and great location for walking. Great it's dog friendly too. Our dogs lived lying in front of the fire after a day's walking. Spacious kitchen. Only thing missing is a washing machine to wash muddy walking clothes. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

The cottage is clean and well equipped.

The cottage is clean and well equipped.....for a summer break. We visited in early November and were freezing. Although there are storage heaters and a coal fire, they are not adequate for a cottage of this age in winter unless the house is permanently occupied. Fortunately, we had plenty of warm clothing with us, but hadn't expected to have to wear it indoors. The website stated that dogs are welcome in this property, so we took our dog away with us for the first time. We were not advised on the website or at the time of booking that dogs are not allowed upstairs in the house. We only found this out when looking at the visitor information booklet on arrival. Our dog is a nervy rescue collie and would not sleep downstairs alone. This meant that, although we both started the night upstairs, we had to take it in turns to sleep downstairs on the sofa to be in the same room as him. The property does have off-road parking, but be advised that it's a struggle to get an estate car into it. The road is narrow and the only other alternative is to park on it in front of the cottage, as all other spaces belong to the residents of the houses opposite. In summary, I would recommend this cottage; it's a nice house, but NOT in the winter months.

Beautiful cottage in the perfect place.

Beautiful cottage in the perfect place. The view from the window meant we never wanted to leave. Fell running and walks from the front door including Blencathra, Skiddaw and Helvellyn range. Would love to return.

We had a fantastic holiday.

We had a fantastic holiday. One could not ask for a more spectacular view from the garden. There are lots of walks in the area - great for car free days. Honiston and Kirkstone passes are absolutely stunning. The only thing I would suggest is replacing freezer with a washing machine. I would happily come back to Cropple Howe tomorrow.

We were at the cottage from 5th-12th April 2019.

We were at the cottage from 5th-12th April 2019. Everything was fine except for the freezing cold hall/entrance area (which impacted on the downstairs bathroom). For the benefit of all who use the cottage in the colder months, the front door needs to be sealed off and insulated to prevent the arctic gales from sweeping in and, in addition, some form of heating in this area would solve the problem.

Comfortable cottage in a beautiful location with a stunning view to the south.

Comfortable cottage in a beautiful location with a stunning view to the south. The access road can be tricky in icy conditions. Facilities in Threlkeld are limited, but it's nice to stay in a village which isn't too tourist-y. And Keswick is only ten minutes away.
