Wisteria Cottage has been beautifully transformed from a farm outbuilding to a very welcoming holiday cottage by following the Bonsall village guidelines to ensure that it is in full sympathy with the countryside. The views are absolutely splendid with rolling countryside at both the doorstep & the nearby hills that can be enjoyed from an adjoining terrace & rustic grass lawn. The cottage is welcoming with a warmth that is not just from the excellent heating. Kitchen is well equipped, even with a full set of sharp knives that is quite unusual for a holiday let, the living room is cosy & inviting even on the wettest of days. Bedrooms, bathroom & shower room are all of a good standard and it is difficult to find any element of disappointment. The welcoming flowers & bottle of wine were appreciated as was the feeling of seclusion but without feeling isolated from the village. A short walk down the lane to a traditional pub was a real bonus as you could leave your car to enjoy a drink or two in the pleasant company of the friendly locals. We have recommended Wisteria Cottage to friends & family without reservation. Two small puzzles to us was; where is the Wisteria & why are there Parisian pictures upon the walls when there is so much natural beauty that could have pride of place in a wonderful cottage? Perfect for us and our labrador. Lovely setting, stunning countryside, loads of good walks around and lots of places to visit not far away. The house was well equipped, clean but also not too posh for a dog, we could relax.

We enjoyed a really comfortable week in this cottage which has amazing views and we sat out on the patio for lunch one day. It had most items we needed but a freezer compartment in the fridge would have helped. We got round most things though. The layout isn't how we expected from the photos and would really only suit a couple as the second bedroom is behind the living room TV and we didn't need to use it. The owners were really kind as we had to return the beautiful flowers they had left for us as I was allergic to them and they replaced them with roses. We also enjoyed a lovely bottle of wine and appreciated a newspaper left when we arrived.

Second time in this lovely cottage, previously visited 6 years ago when our little boy was just 6 weeks old, and we had our lovely old dog too. This time unfortunately our dog is no longer with us it brought back happy memories to be back again with our now two children age 6 and 3. Spotlessly clean and cozy, and a very welcoming bottle of delicious wine and fresh flowers were waiting. The children enjoyed playing outside on their scooters, and we sat watching the beautiful views in the evening. Bonsall had a number of things happening which were a pleasant surprise, there was a lovely lantern parade and fireworks one evening, then we walked along to the hen race at the Barley Mow pub which was unusual but had a good atmosphere. The village has a lovely community spirit about it which was nice to be part of. Would recommend Heights of Abraham, Crich Tram museum and Matlock Baths as family days out. Cottage a great base to explore the beautiful Peak District, hopefully we will return again.

A lovely cottage in a great location.
A lovely cottage in a great location. Lots to see and do, walks in the countryside and a village tea room, shop and pub a short walk away. Cottage was clean and comfortable, and our hosts left a complimentary bottle of wine in the fridge for our arrival. Only mild inconvenience was the lack of a freezer compartment in the fridge, bit everything else was perfect. Highly recommended for a Peak District holiday.

A quaint cottage with stunning views! Spent a long weekend here with my husband and two daughters (age 7 & 4). It was everything we were looking for. We all found the beds to be comfortable, there is a lovely big bathroom upstairs and separate shower and toilet downstairs. The kitchen had everything we needed (and more). There are a couple of steps in between the living room and kitchen, this wasn't a problem for us but it could be for a mobile baby/ toddler that hasn't learnt to negotiate steps! We used the cottage as a base to explore Matlock and Matlock Bath which are only a 5 minute drive away. The owner lives next door but we were left undisturbed however knew where to go if there was a problem thanks to a quick phone call a few days before.

Great open views and peaceful surroundings.
Great open views and peaceful surroundings. Lots of great walks from the door including a short 20 minute up hill and through some woods, stroll to the Heights of Abraham without having to use the cable car! Cottage could do with a few smaller glasses and there was no hand soap for use at any of the sinks. Bed was comfy and there was plenty of space for the 3 of us and our dog. The dog loved the open fields to run in which belong to the owners. Overall we had a lovely time, the sunsets are outstanding as are the breakfasts at Fountain cafe - a short walk across the fields.
