Best cottage we've ever stayed in - and we've stayed in many.

Best cottage we've ever stayed in - and we've stayed in many. Amazing wildlife, we even heard an owl one night. But the squirrels are the best! Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Just come back from a long weekend at Rowanburn Lodge and we couldn't have asked for more. I had never stayed in such a well equipped holiday rental, the owners had thought of everything you could possibly need. The red squirrels and rabbits kept us entertained every day. Great place to relax and unwind.

We loved our stay at Rowanburn Lodge.

We loved our stay at Rowanburn Lodge. The accommodation was spotless, beautifully furnished and superbly equipped. In a quiet location with frequent sightings of red squirrels feeding on the verandah, it was perfectly located for visiting the Northern Lakes. We ate our evening meal at the Boot and Shoe in nearby Greystoke where we had an excellent meal. We would highly recommend this holiday property.

Could not fault the standard of the lodge or the information provided by the owners.

Could not fault the standard of the lodge or the information provided by the owners. For us the site was slightly overcrowded with the lodges too close together.

Super lodge, clean, comfortable and well equipped including good showers, with the essentials included, e.g. hand soap, kitchen paper, loo rolls, dishwasher tablets, and sharp knives- these can sometimes be lacking in other properties. It had excellent outdoor areas and an enclosed deck which was perfect for our dog: a 16 year old beagle who still thinks she is two. It is in the middle of no where, but that adds to the charm, So relaxing, and a wildlife haven. We last saw red squirrels in the Lake District about 15 years ago, and chose this lodge because of the mention of them in the reviews. We were not disappointed and kept entertained by the numerous daily visits these adorable creatures made. We also experienced many varieties of birds, some we have rarely seen before; including woodpeckers, jays and siskens. The plentiful supply of food for the squirrels and birds supplied by the owners meant we were able to top up the many feeders surrounding the lodge so ensuring frequent visits.
