Absolutely great! We had a wonderful time.

Absolutely great! We had a wonderful time. Stunning views from the cottage to enjoy whilst having breakfast with all the shops you need in Huntly, just 10mins away by car. Easy to get to all manner of attractions and places including the Cairngorms National Park and associated walks/ hikes and mountain biking as well as good proximity to the Whiskey trail and many distillery’s in Keith and Dufftown. Elgin and Aberdeen are also not too far away for those looking to visit a bigger town. The cottage is well equipped, immaculately clean and cosy with the open fires finishing it all off. We will definitely save to our favourites and look to visit again. Thanks Straitinnan Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

This must be one of the best (if not the best) of holiday I have ever had.

This must be one of the best (if not the best) of holiday I have ever had. The location of Straitinnan is perfect. The quiet is amazing. All we could hear during the day were singing birds, all we could hear at night was Deveron humming. The cottage is nicely equipped and beautiful both outside and inside. Our dog enjoyed the garden, and we loved walking him around Aswanley Estate. The village is located close to Huntly, in case you need to buy something. Good gateway to both Aberdeenshire, Cairngorms and wider Highlands. One thing I would recommend to the owner is the energy saving light bulbs, seeing as the electricity is on a meter. We had a fabulous stay at the cottage it was well equipped and comfortable.

We had a fabulous stay at the cottage it was well equipped and comfortable. We went on many trips out walking and travelling to many stone circles and Neolithic sites. The cottage is heated by electric heaters and due to the weather we found the heater in the downstairs passage between the kitchen and the lounge was the best heater to leave on as it heated the upstairs too. The towel rails in both bathrooms were excellent keeping towels warm and aired. I did telephone the recommended person at Aswanley and left a message asking them to call but unfortunately they didn’t which was rather disappointing. We had an infestation of wasps and flies that managed to find their way into both bedrooms upstairs through the window frames - we kept the windows shut at all times which was slightly worrying. On average we had 15 to 25 wasps per day plus flies. We feel there must be a large wasps nest in the eaves of the cottage as they were unrelenting. Hence trying to contact the designated person to no avail! The cutlery needed washing, as did the oven trays frying pan and saucepans. Quite a few of the dinner plates and cereal bowls had crack lines on them and one of the plates fell in half when being washed. Apart from the above everything was lovely. Very comfortable bed - soft laundered sheets and duvet cover and pillowcases nice towels. The sofa was very comfortable and a lovely room to relax in. The downstairs shower was great and if preferred there was a bath in the upstairs en-suite. We forgot to take a meter reading on arrival but took the readings before we left and left a note explaining our error. It would be useful if the electric meter reading at the start of your holiday could be entered on the house sheet by the cleaning staff which would make it a lot simpler! The cottage is in a beautiful location - the garden is beautiful and when sunny the conservatory has such a lovely outlook onto the garden. Well worth a visit! Wonderful location, however cottage and equipment now looking a bit tired (microwave rusty).

Wonderful location, however cottage and equipment now looking a bit tired (microwave rusty). Owners could add a few touches like a welcome pack (ie shortbread, milk etc - maybe a bottle of wine?!) and leave some instructions regarding appliances - electric cooker, shower, towel rails; there is a switch in smaller bedroom which was on and still have no idea what it was for. Big niggle is the electric - you end up checking daily to make sure not over-using - which does not make for a relaxing stay and in winter could be costly. Easy to be critical however would stay again - we had all weathers from cold misty to scorching 25 degrees - just as it should be!

Charming cottage, recommended to all my friends since we returned.

Charming cottage, recommended to all my friends since we returned. Only small point is it is very cold. I did read this on other reviews prior to booking but chose not to take note. Lovely open fires but rest of house very cold. You have to pay additional for elect and we were 94.00 for Sat teatime till Mon 10 a.m. with only one storage heater on and two hours of hot water, so you need to build this into your budget and have cash to leave at the end of your stay. Would def book again.

Excellent stay, very tranquil and relaxing.

Excellent stay, very tranquil and relaxing. We had lovely long walks with our dog and the cottage was the excellent place. My only gripe was the cost of the electricity.
