The Old Goat House is a well presented, stone barn conversion, situated ajacent to the owner’s home, in the quiet Wensleydale village of Thornton Rust, 2 miles west of Aysgarth. The Old Goat House is fairly unique with one of the bedrooms with en-suite wet room in a self contained unit, just across the pebbled courtyard, allowing some independence in the party, if someone wants a bit of quiet time. There’s scenery to enjoy, with walks and cycle routes from the doorstep, as well as the popular Aysgarth Falls and Lake Semerwater being just a short drive away. The popular market towns of Hawes and Leyburn are well worth a visit, as is the spectacular Hardraw Force, England’s largest single drop waterfall. Shop, pub and restaurant 2 miles. All the major supermarkets deliver.

A group of 6 of us shared the cottage for a week. We all had an enjoyable stay. The location is remote and travelling to local amenities and tourist attractions takes time but for a get away from it all holiday it’s ideal. The views from the garden is stunning and with great weather you can just enjoy yourself relaxing here. The owners are very friendly and helpful.

The owners were very helpful and made us feel welcomed from the first meeting.
The owners were very helpful and made us feel welcomed from the first meeting. Nothing was to much trouble for them. The property along with the Piggery were spotless and the beds were extremely comfortable. The views from the garden were amazing and there were plenty of areas to walk our dog. The local shop was a little further than we would have liked to travel to so would advise people to shop before the return back to the Old Goat House at the end of the day. The owners provide tea, coffee etc for the week if needed , a lovely cake was made for us and some home made marmalade for our breakfast. All in all a lovely cottage for our holiday, my mother enjoyed staying in the compact but comfortable Piggery and enjoyed her week also.
