Fabulous stay at Hope Cottage in Whitby.
Fabulous stay at Hope Cottage in Whitby. Well equipped, comfortable cottage full of character with a lovely atmosphere, pretty little garden to sit out in and amazing to find parking on site right in the middle of Whitby. Loved walking the few minutes down to all the shops including Botham's bakery to buy breakfast and then sitting outside the cottage to eat it in the sunshine. Everything we could possibly have wanted or needed was there in the cottage. Fantastic to be able to take our little dog there too. We love Whitby and have stayed many times, so far this is our favourite cottage. We definitely plan to visit again. Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

Great cottage, very comfortable getting parked can be tricky but a parking space is needed in Whitby. Picnic table outside is great but to sit out more comfortable seating would have been appreciated, having said that a fabulous place to stay and we will return. Hi Hope cottage was lovely.
Hi Hope cottage was lovely. Parking only problem. Need to get ride off the slop between properties. Weekend with 2 cars particularly problematic. No complaints with the property itself. Would I come back definite yes.

Very nice tradtional type cottage.
Very nice tradtional type cottage. Location great, garden could have been better maintained. But well equipped and quirky, parking is tight but we managed to get two cars on it. However unfortunately the adjoining property is having a major scheme of refurbishment, with builders there daily. None of this was mentioned at anytime in the booking process, which may have effected our choice.

Pros: A good location for the seafront (great for walking the dogs) and the local pubs and eateries - there's an excellent bakery 1 min away. The facilities are good too, with fast wifi and two TVs to stop family squabbles. One has apps like Netflix and YouTube too. The yard in front is reasonably private and quiet, and good for sitting out with a glass of wine if the weather's good. Good for storing and charging the mobility scooter one of our party had. The beds were comfortable, quiet and dark - there's very little external noise here. The kitchen is very well equipped if you want to cook. It's a great atmospheric old house. Cons: The kitchen/downstairs (converted scullery or cellar?) had a low ceiling when walking from upstairs that I cracked my head on a couple of times (and I'm only 5' 8"), and for some reason it's artexed just to maximise the pain - it should have a cushioned Mind Your Head sign! The downstairs key doesn't work from the inside (there are bolts though). The parking space is pretty tight too, even to manoeuvre my compact Honda Jazz into, but at least you're free of the on road parking nightmare that is Whitby. Overall it has it's niggles, but if we needed 3 bedrooms and dog friendly, in a great location Hope Cottage would be on our list of places to look at.

Lovely cosy cottage.
Lovely cosy cottage. This was our 2nd stay here with our dog. The cottage is spotless and has everything you need. Kitchen is very well equipped if you want to cook, but we ate out as there are so many good places to eat. Love the wood burning fire in the snug. Very comfy bed and extremely quiet. The parking space is a bonus. Previous reviewers have said it’s a bit tight, but we managed to get a Range Rover Evoque on it! It’s just a case of manoeuvring around the bins a bit. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay again and love Whitby. We will be back. Thank you.

We had a lovely stay.
We had a lovely stay. Beautifully decorated in keeping with the history and age of the cottage. Only two small negatives. stair rail needed for outside steps and curtain required for bathroom door.

Wonderfully equipped cottage in a great location.
Wonderfully equipped cottage in a great location. A home from home. We would recommend and book again. Small faults- with a small tot we could have done with a rail on steps that led to bottom floor. Post code for John street would be useful for Sat Nav to find entrance. It was tight access especially with building works. But we had an amazing holiday at Hope Cottage.

Great cottage only 5 mins walk into town.
Great cottage only 5 mins walk into town. Pub at end of road and several bars & shops within 1 minute walk. Quite quirky inside if not a little dark, but very well equipped and cosy. Only downside is the small awkward space for parking and garden needs a light as you walk into it from car park. Beware of slope at side of car park also, easy to fall off in the dark. Would recommend defo.

A great cottage in a great location Cosy and warm and has everything you need Parking a bit tight but that's the location which cannot be helped - we managed to park an Astra and a Corsa on the front Only problem was a blocked toilet which was sorted eventually. Would definitely go back

A great cottage in a great location.
A great cottage in a great location. It was perfect for us a family of 4 (2 teenage kids) and 2 dogs. We spent most of our time downstairs where the dogs were allowed, lovely kitchen plus dining room/lounge area and a door to the enclosed garden. A nice touch was the smart TV in the upstairs lounge where the kids watched the champions league final.
