This former workers cottage was built in the 1770s and is situated in a conservation village, designed by the renowned architect Robert Adam, for the 1st Earl of Lonsdale. Set amongst other sandstone cottages, centred around lawned courtyards, the cottage has an abundance of charm and character of its own from its previous history. Whilst retaining the authentic feel of this delightful cottage, the owners have used contemporary accents alongside the classic country cottage furnishings, resulting in a stylish home from home. Externally, a pleasant garden area offers space to enjoy the delightful surroundings on warmer days, and creates the ideal spot for a quiet drink after a busy day exploring.

Lowther model village was said to have been built in order to move the original village, and to improve the view from Lowther Castle. A visitor attraction in itself, the Lowther Estate offers guests a wealth of experiences, including Lowther Castle with its stunning Gothic profile, and the extensive gardens and picturesque grounds running down to the River Lowther. Excellent in every way

A very well appointed and kitted out place to a high and comfortable standard, no problems at all would choose this place anytime when coming back to Lowther and Pooley Bridge. Easy bus ride to Windermere and in pooley plenty of good places to eat at all prices to suite. Canoeing and paddle boarding a must!!

Lowther cottage

Very clean and comfortable cottage - well equipped and welcoming but a little outside the heart of the lakes so rather a drive if fell walking is planned.

I spent a week at the beginning of October with my wife and Cocker Spaniel, the cottage was clean and tidy, very well appointed and comfortable. We spent all week walking locally and further afield. The cottage is situated on the Eastern most edge of the national park. Lowther castle and the bird of prey centre were both within easy walking distance of the cottage. We had a fantastic time. Penrith was nearby (6 miles) it has everything you could need.

A beautifully decorated and comfortable cottage with everything you would need.

A beautifully decorated and comfortable cottage with everything you would need. The fixtures and fittings are of an excellent standard and the setting is charming; walking past a castle on the way to the pub was quite magical! It's worth noting that it is quite a walk away to the nicest pub and nearest shop - not suitable for a quick stroll before dinner. We opted for a bottle of wine in front of the log burner most evenings which was equally pleasant!

We had a great holiday staying at Crescent Cottage.

We had a great holiday staying at Crescent Cottage. It’s in a good location and easy to get to the majority of the Lake District (the SW is a bit of a trek). Great local amenities (Shop; Pub Restaurants & even Ice Cream!) a short drive or nice walk away. The property is furnished well and is very cosy. Kitchen amenities are great and even rainy days are thought of with plenty of books and board games. Unfortunately we couldn’t submit this review without mentioning the double bed on which it is almost impossible to sleep due to it being excessively soft and even the slightest movement of your arm causing the bed to squeak so much so that we had to resort to sleeping in the single beds in the second bedroom by the end of the week. With such a well furnished property it’s amazing that this has been overlooked. If this issue is resolved this is a lovely property and we would certainly recommend as a place to stay for a holiday in the Lake District.

The quality of the letting was of the highest order and left no room for adverse comments.

The quality of the letting was of the highest order and left no room for adverse comments. My wife and I have holidayed in the area for many years now and have used a number of different properties, this particular one ticked all the boxes and we both agree that we would be happy to return to the same. Particular note has to be made of the quality of the workmanship by the installers of practically everything, flooring, woodwork and fitting out of the kitchen etc. The standard of equipment was excellent and nothing was missing from any of the things that the customer expected. A-STAR. KM

Beautiful, idyllic cottage, had everything we needed, excellent decor, and loved the fire! Perfect for families and a dog ? Lowther and Askam have some lovely walks, try the Punchbowl at Askam for Sunday dinner. Ullswater a short drive, certainly worth a visit and include a short trip on the steamer. Will certainly visit this cottage again!

We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay at crescent cottage. Extremely comfortable cottage with lots of character that survived all that storm Gareth had to throw at it. The perfect place to come back to after walking the beautiful lakes - 2 adults and 1 Labrador were very impressed. With any luck, we will be back
