In an enviable location with sea views, stunning beaches and magnificent sunrises and sunsets, Kilbride Cottage will allow you to enjoy a truly unique holiday experience in South Uist. Dating back to 1909, the cottage has been lovingly restored by its present owner and offers a beautiful cosy retreat for two. Located on a working croft with sheep, ducks and chickens the cottage is ideally based to explore all that the islands have to offer.
The archipelago off the islands are all linked by causeways, so travelling between them all is easy. Discover miles of white sandy beaches and enjoy leisurely walks. A short drive or cycle across the causeway to Eriskay, will allow you to catch the ferry to Barra for a special day out. At Lochmaddy the Uist Outdoor Centre offers a wide range of activities including sea kayaking, diving and whale watching, or take a short boat trip out to the remote island of St Kilda and the Monarch Isles.
Wildlife is abundant with hen harriers, seals, otters, eagles and corncrakes often spotted, whilst whales and basking sharks all visit in the summer. There are many historic and archaeological sites to explore, including The Bonnie Prince Charlie Trail, Trinity Temple at Carnish and the Kildonan Museum. Without a doubt the months from April to the end of September are the prettiest on the islands when the rare machair flowers an amazing shimmering mass of colour, but a worthy contrast are the dramatic late autumn and winter months when the dark skies are awe inspiring. This magical island will leave you rejuvenated and wanting to return again and again. Beach ¼ mile. Shop 3 miles, pub and restaurant ½ mile.
Free WiFi
