About this property
La Noisette - Charming 17thC cottage. Shared pool. Low mobility access Sleeps 7
Situated in the heart of the beautiful breton countryside this 17th century traditional stone cottage has been sympathetically renovated. It retains its period features but has been updated to include modern facilities including a large low mobility bedroom with its own en-suite wet room. Upstairs it has three other large bedrooms. The open plan ground floor has a well-equipped living area with welcoming log burning fire, TV in English, French, Dutch & German, DVD player and Nintendo Wii. It has large comfortable sofas. From the living room you enter the dining area, with its large dining table. The kitchen is well equipped, including with a microwave, oven, fridge-freezer and dishwasher. The property opens out through French windows onto a private patio and garden. The private patio has a large gazebo area allowing you to dine al-fresco all year round. The low mobility bedroom has its own double door onto the patio. The property has its own private garden complete with original stone bread oven. Next to the private garden is the shared outdoor swimming pool (heated Jul-Aug) and access out to the large communal gardens, sports area and the children's play area ('Skyfort', swings, slide), along with access to the car park. Rear access to the property and the swimming pool sun deck are by ramp. Front door access has one step. Free Wi-Fi internet access is included.

About the host
Hosted by Andrea Twelves

We moved out to France in 2012 to take on this lovely group of holiday cottages, but also to try and experience the best of the relaxed French family orientated lifestyle, and the culture. We have worked hard on bringing the cottages up a high standard whilst also trying to have some time off to enjoy as much as possible of the local area so we are able to give lots of recommendations to our visitors. We are also trying to be a little more sustainable, growing our own fruit and veg, producing our own firewood and keeping chickens for fresh eggs, not quite on the scale of "The Good Life" though! We have really enjoyed the experience, both of living in France, and the fun of running the cottages.

Why they chose this property
Our search for the perfect property took three years and we lost count of the number of properties we looked at! In the end we found what we were looking for; a traditional stone building with character, within easy distance of lots of things to see and do for our guests, with easy access to major transport links, remote enough to have lots of fresh air and inky black skies with twinkling stars but very easy access to shops, restaurants etc. An added bonus was lots of our own land and enough renovation work to allow us to put our own stamp on the building. The main road running down the centre of Brittany is only 4 miles from the gîtes and access to the whole of Brittany is very easy; you are at the heart of Brittany with all the advantages that brings.
What makes this property unique
Situated in a small hamlet about a mile from the nearest village, the shop has a café & bar. The local town has several great restaurants (including one with a Michelin star!) as well as supermarket, boulangerie, butcher, creperie, chemist, doctor etc. Chateaux, Medieval ruins, them parks, shopping, and culture are all an easy drive. Less than ten minutes away is the 400 ha lac du Geurledan (the largest lake in Brittany) which is great for swimming, kayaking, water-skiing or just enjoying the sandy beaches. It also has great walks, cycling and horse-riding routes round it. The Tour de France passes through, and every year you can see the teams training in the local area. The cottages are unusual in having both large private gardens, and even larger communal areas, giving you the best of both worlds.
