Fantastic house with great view of Turnagain Arm
Don't get discouraged that you'll need to climb a gravel road up to the house, the back deck and interior (from dining, kitchen, living) as well as loft has a great view of sunsets over Turnagain Arm.
Loft bedroom does have a door to allow folks to sleep in even when early risers stir in the kitchen.
Yard has a playset with swings, monkey bars, and clubhouse with slide.
Clear weather day? Drive down to Potter Marsh in minutes to birdwatch or spot other wildlife - we saw a muskrat - and also lots of salmon too. Boardwalk was great fun for the kids and those who are less mobile to enjoy.
It's not too remote, 15 minutes and you can drive to the conveniences of nearby grocers, bakeries, and restaurants. Another 15 and you'll be able to reach the additional choices of downtown restaurants.
A good home base for exploration to the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, Chugach (to the southeast of Anchorage), Whittier or Portage Lake.
With beds for 11, we had flexibility with 7 adults and 3 kids. Our children (ages 3 to 7) enjoyed a house that was stocked with toys, books, and games along with bunk beds to boot. No demands for screen time during our stay.
We stayed here for four days as a gathering point for family traveling from different places before an excursion north to Denali.
