About this property
THE SHOOTING FOLLY, romantic, with hot tub in Cheswardine
Suitable for two people, this one bedroom holiday cottage also has one bathroom set in the heart of the Shropshire farmland.
The Shooting Folly is as unique a holiday home that we have ever come across. Standing in the middle of the Shropshire farmland and with views over fields over fields and woods, it is romantic as the setting.
Dating back to the 19th Century, once believed to be an old shooting lodge, the building retains features such as crenelated mock church tower at one end, a stepped gable at the other, and a timber thatched cottage in between. To create a very homely hideaway, the house contains many mod cons, including a Cedar Hot Tub. Please note Charcoal BBQ available - only charcoal to be used due to Cottage being Thatched.
The only bedroom features a double bed with views across the countryside, with a separate WC, and the kitchen is smart and made of solid oak with a granite work surface; it’s well equipped with electric hob, oven and microwave. Guests will be sure to enjoy their time at The Shooting Folly.
Amenities: Underfloor heating, woodburner. Electric hob, oven and grill, fridge with freezer compartment, slimline dishwasher and microwave. TV, DVD and selection of DVDs, 4G signal (no WIFI but 4G is picked up). Fuel and power inc in rent. Bed linen and towels inc in rent. Travel cot and highchair. Enclosed garden , paved and gravelled areas, cedar hot tub, feature well with lighting and safety grill. Charcoal BBQ available please note only charcoal to be used as Thatched Cottage. Off road parking. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Sorry infants only, no children Shop and pub 2 miles. Note: Washing facilities available with owner, upon request (lives nearby).
Region: A E Houseman once wrote that Shropshire was “the quietest place under the sun” and today the county remains something of a rural idyll, recognised as one of the least crowded and most peaceful regions in England.
Town: The Shooting Folly is on the edge of a small village, but a few miles from the totally gorgeous village of Cheswardine, which is relatively untouched and a typical Shropshire village. There are two pubs nearby, both recommended by the owners – The Fox & Hounds is two miles away and The Wharf Tavern sits right on the canal.
