Mulhacén mountain:
At 3,478.6 meters, Mulhacén is the highest mountain in continental Spain and the Iberian peninsula.
It is named after Abu l-Hasan Ali, or Muley Hacén as he is known in Spanish, the penultimate Muslim King of Granada in the 15th century who, according to legend, was buried on the summit of the mountain.

About the host
Hosted by Les & Audrey Blair

Les and Audrey live at Paraíso Rural.
Les was born and raised in Guyana and Audrey is from the south of Ireland. We met in Grantham, Lincolnshire where Les was a mechanical engineering apprentice with Aveling Barford and Audrey was doing her State Registered Nurse training. Subsequently we moved to London and then to Cambridge.
We have a son, daughter and granddaughter, they live in England so we are back and forth from time to time.
We sold our home in Cambridge to move to a property on the Málaga Cordoba border near lake Iznajar however this purchase fell through. We were then homeless and spent some time with Les' sister in the French Pyrenees, house and dog sat for friends in Bagnères-de-Bigorre (also in the Pyrenees) and rented a casita in the Axarquía region of Málaga.
Whilst in Axarquía we viewed over 40 properties across the length and breadth of Andalucía. Some of these properties were in the Alpujarras, a region on the south facing slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountains in Granada Province.
We first visited the Alpujarras in the summer of 2009 and were blown away by the beauty of the area. In our Christmas "round-robin" we suggested it as a possibility for retirement!
La Luna (now called Paraíso Rural) was on our shortlist. We knew from our first viewing that this property was rather special and it ticked all the boxes for being our home and providing an income from holiday rentals.
