Cozy but not what we expected.

It is a lovely outdoor property with a nice indoor fireplace conveniently located near outdoor attractions as well as downtown Asheville. We were disappointed by the lack of hot water on two different occasions. Also, an annoying humming noise was heard in the bedroom several nights and mornings. One evening, conversation was heard above the bedroom, which continued until after midnight.

Relaxing spot just outside Asheville

My group and I loved our stay in Jason's place. We were looking for a weekend getaway that included time in nature, time to enjoy Asheville's best breweries and restaurants, and of course time for our two dogs to run around. Jason's place was clean, comfortable, and convenient. Jason as a host was wonderful. He was responsive whenever we had a question or needed a recommendation. And we so much appreciated him setting up the firepit for us while we were heading back from being out to brunch.

Very clean and nice setting

We had a great Easter weekend staying at the property. It is a small drive to all you need to see in the Asheville area, but is in a lovely wooded area. The place was very clean and the owner was helpful. We would recommend staying here. Thank you. S. Steyn

We love the place!

We spent NYE at the retreat and we thoroughly enjoyed it. The place is very nice, very clean and it has everything we needed. Jason was super nice, he gave us great information to nearby trails and we had a great hike! His daughter was really sweet to help us with dog-sitting while we were out in town. We also encountered bad winter weather unexpectedly on NYE when we tried to get back and we got stuck on the icy road in downtown Asheville, Jason was so kind to guide us back to his house. We were absolutely thankful of him! and we really had a great time staying at his house.

What a wonderful place to stay for Christmas Vacation!

We brought our family of 5 plus our dog to explore Asheville and surrounding towns during Christmas break. We loved every minute of it! The condo was cozy, roomy, and decorated for Christmas! The family was super helpful in suggestions for tubing, skiing, hiking, and restaurants. We can’t say enough about their sweet daughter who helped with our dog Moose’s while we were away during the day. The kids loved the on site trails, fire pit, and chickens. We loved having a kitchen and washer and dryer. We loved it so much and can’t wait to get back!!

Great location, nice rental

The rental was clean and homey, including everything we needed for a comfortable short stay. The owners were very nice and the highlight was how much our dog loved running around the beautiful property with the owners' dogs. It would have been challenging for our family to stay much longer due to the truncated kitchen. We would have needed a stove if we weren't eating out so much. This worked out perfectly for a nice place to stay for our long weekend getaway!

Beautiful Mountain Retreat

We had a wonderful stay at Stone Creek Retreat. It was a beautiful location near lots of trails and easy access into downtown Asheville and Black Mountain where we were for a cycling event. Jason's home is warm, cozy and immaculate! We were so comfortable and glad we got to bring our dog Winthorp with us. Jason provided lots of great tips for us for near by trails to explore and was extremely helpful in providing anything we needed. His lovely daughter Katie provided pet sitting services and took care of our dog on Saturday when we were at our bike ride. This is a great service to have when traveling with your dog and Katie did a great job. I'd recommend her if traveling with your dogs. We really enjoyed our stay and hope to be back soon for another adventure. Jason's retreat is the place to be especially in October; the leaves were amazing!

Great location center of everything in the area.

The owners sent us everything we needed to know to get into the place as we came in late. We had 2 dogs with us there was a kennel area for the dogs right outside our door with shelter and shade. Got to meet Jason very nice also met his dogs. Was very impressed plenty of area for pets to run for some excersize. The place sits on a steep hill with woods all around can't say enough in words. I know we all enjoyed it. Inside all the convenyances of home only thing no stove but was fine other devises were supplied. Very clean and nice inside. Very glad we chose it. Would again.

Perfect Weekend Getaway

We had an excellent time at Jason's property. It was a very clean and comfortable living space, located conveniently from Ashville and some wonderful hiking spots! Jason was incredibly accommodating with our check-in and check-out times and offered some great tips on hiking, as well. The property is a finished basement and there appeared to be people living above us for part of our stay. While we had no problem with this, and still felt like we were maintaining our privacy, it would have been nice to know in advance we were sharing the home.

A great place for a short getaway

We spent three nights in the Alexander's lovely little retreat. it was just the way we I saw it in the online pictures, maybe even better. The location was within a few minutes of anywhere you may want to go, just a few minutes to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Biltmore Estate. We had everything we needed to make our stay comfortable and fun. We would recommend it to anyone for a stay in the Asheville area.

peaceful weekend getaway

We booked a last minute weekend get away and would definitely book this property again. The location is a short drive out of Asheville, which we liked. The homeowners were very helpful with suggestions for places to go and things to see. When we arrived everything was just as described, very clean and it was easy to find. There was plenty of wood for the fire, and kindling already in the fire pit waiting for us. Although the homeowners were at home during our stay, we never saw them; like having the place to ourselves. We appreciated being able to take our dog with us. The property offers a nice size outdoor kennel near the front door and great trails for walking in the woods. We didn't cook any meals there but did notice the gas grill if we had wanted too. I found it to be a little odd that there was no cooktop/range in the kitchen, just a microwave and coffeemaker. Not really a problem for us because our plans did not include meals at home. A comfortable place for 4 "well acquainted" people (2 queen beds are in the one bedroom). We had a great weekend, and very much enjoyed our stay.

Great Mountain Home Getaway

Nice, secluded mountain home that was very convenient to all nearby attractions. Though the family lived upstairs, you didn’t see or hear them, so it made it feel like it was just our family in the mountains. Jason was very helpful in providing local info, as it was our first time visiting the Asheville area, and provided everything we needed to feel comfortable. He even set up the fire pit for us which we enjoyed on a full moon night! And if you haven’t been to the Biltmore, you have to go! It was amazing! Would definitely stay again!

Great place, really enjoyed our stay

Owner very friendly and helpful. Space is well decorated and very clean. Nice lot, room for the kids to run around. Really enjoyed the fire pit and supplied wood. Space is large, has what I'd call a kitchenette (no stove/range or dishwasher). However, the gas grill outside has a burner, so you could improvise and we didn't miss a dishwasher. Wifi worked well. Driveway is steep at parts (as is common in the area), so be careful if it's dark when you're going up for the first time. Very wooded, private lot, which is great. Coffee drinkers may consider bringing a full-size coffee maker, provided one is hotel-sized. Overall really great and would go again.

Perfect stay

The property was perfect for us. Very dog friendly, clean, and well appointed. Only 15 minutes from downtown Asheville. We were able to take our dog off-leash on walks around the property. Had breakfast every morning at the Local Joint, less than a mile from the property. Only a few miles from Blue Ridge Parkway, beautiful drive. Jason, the owner, was wonderful. Very responsive and pleasant to work with. I highly recommend this property.

Beautiful, clean and quiet

This is an excellent value and in a beautiful area. Our host and his family were wonderful and the space was super clean and larger than expected with a great fireplace and high ceilings. The property was lovely and wooded, and the old cabin ruins in the woods on the property dating back from the 1850's is not to be missed! My husband and I stayed for five nights and would definitely stay again.

Very accommodating!

This rental is a beautiful little bungalow, hidden away from the main road and surrounded by the trees. It's within minutes of anything and everything Asheville you want to do. The rental is the basement of someone's house but it doesn't feel that way with how it's furnished and with your own private entrance. The owners have been great to work with, allowing us to bring our dog and let her stay in a large dog run while we went off to the Biltmore Estate. There are trails within walking distance of the house and the place has a real cabin feel to it, outdoor fireplace included! The room, living space, kitchen and bathroom are in great condition, both clean and comfortable. The owner even contacted me before hand to see what we like to drink to have it ready for us in the fridge which I thought was a very nice gesture. Would definitely recommend this place to friends and fellow travelers looking for a great place to stay at a reasonable price!

About the host

My wife and I were both born and raised in Fairview / Asheville area and along with our 2 wonderful daughters and 2 English Labradors spend countless hours in these beautiful mountains fishing, tubing and hiking. Our home location is great with tennis courts and golf courses within 5-10 miles of our residence. We are true native WNC through and through so if we can be of any assistance with planning your trip, please don't hesitate to ask. We may know of some places to visit that other's have never heard about.

Why they chose this property

In my opinion, no other area offers what WNC offers in beauty, adventure, great seasonal weather and the diverseness that Asheville brings.
