Immaculate, 2 bedroom apartment, sleeps 5 with 4 balconies!
Villaggio Bergamotto is a beautiful walled and gated complex in Gioiosa Ionica, with a 200 m² communal pool and surrounded by orange groves. This is a first floor, 2 bedroom apartment (sleeps 5) There is a king sized bed in the main bedroom, twin beds in the second bedroom and a sofa bed in the lounge. The apartment benefits from a brand new, modern fitted kitchen with a gas hob and an electric oven. The lounge/dining room has a flat screen TV, (DVD, CD player) on request) double doors lead from the lounge onto a balcony with patio furniture. There are also 3 other balconies accessed from the bedrooms, all with lovely views. The bathroom is modern with the added advantage of having a bath and overhead shower. The apartment is fully equipped with A/C and has all your needs for a relaxing holiday.
Our property manager will meet you on arrival and give you all the information that you need for an enjoyable stay. All towels and bedlinen are included free

Located in Gioiosa Ionica, Calabria in the South of Italy. This is a small town just 5 min drive from the beautiful, unspoilt Ionian Coast with it's white sands and blue sea. It's also within 15 min of the spectacular Sila mountains that are home to traditional, Italian villages like Gerace with its cobbled streets and medieval churches. Within 30 min drive you are able to access the rugged Tyrrhenian coast with a number of beautiful resorts including Tropea, with its award winning beach and annual Jazz festival. If you wanted to visit the island of Sicily this is easily accessible on one of the many short ferry rides, within an hour's drive from Gioiosa Ionica. Several golf courses are within a short drive. Lamezia airport is 1 h away, with Monarch scheduling direct flights from the UK and Stansted flying direct from the UK with RyanAir and most European countries. There are also flights from the US and Canada.

Abitazione funzionale in un contesto silenzioso
L’abitazione nel residence “il bergamotto” è di recente costruzione, pulita, completa e corrispondente alla descrizione. Lucio è un proprietario attento e il Suo incaricato Giuseppe quotidianamente disponibile. Il residence è silenzioso e ben frequentato, a pochi minuti in automobile sia dal centro di Gioiosa che dalle spiagge di Marina. Ideale per trascorrere una bella vacanza sulla Costa dei Gelsomini.

Buon residence per relax totale
Mi sono trovato bene. Il residence è di recente costruzione e molto indicato per tutti, famiglie con figli di ogni età, ma anche per coppie. A 5 minuti dal mare con la macchina, la piscina condominiale, ben tenuta, offre comunque la possibilità di fare un bagno e rilassarsi. A due minuti in macchina c'è un grosso supermercato per tutte le esigenze. Lucio, buon padrone di casa e sempre disponibile per qualsiasi necessità, ha un bell'appartamento che affaccia su tre lati con 4 balconi, con bagno, due stanze da notte (una matrimoniale e una per i ragazzi), salotto con cucina a vista e condizionatori, fondamentali nelle ore calde.

A great place to stay
We had such a great experience at Lou’s apartment. They were extremely helpful throughout the booking period and upon arrival everything was exactly as Described. The grounds were beautiful and clean the apartment was within five minutes of the beach. The grocery store was nearby and the residence in apartment complex were extremely friendly . Giuseppe whom we met Upon arrival was extremely helpful throughout the entire stay. We will definitely be returning in the near future. Thank you for everything.

Fantastic holiday
Great apartment. Clean with all essentials including wifi. Not far from the local town - chocolate croissants a must! Beautiful beach close by. The locals are friendly and helpful-a real village atmosphere .....we even drank fresh water from the mountain spring. If you want a totally relaxing holiday in an unspoilt beautiful part of Italy this is the place. We shall be returning. Thank you

Wonderful accommodations
We are a senior citizen couple from USA. We have travelled Italy in the summer for the past 3 years. Often we use vrbo.com and most of the time we are satisfied with our rental. Lou's rental this year was outstanding. Everything listed in his vrbo# was there just as described. The area and his accommodations were beyond our expectations. Complex safe and friendly. Trip to the beach wonderful. Sammantha the property manager was a jewel in helping us. No matter the question, our how many questions from us. Fantastic property and village
Had a wonderful stay in amazing apartment beautifully maintained complex . The village and surrounding areas were lovely to explore and the traditional village life made you realise how laid back life can be - would definitely go back . Found some lovely places to eat and the language barrier was never a problem.

Wonderful time in Calabria
The apartment of Mr. Lucio is really a very nice place in a wonderful residence near Marina di Gioiosa Jonica. The comfort is Top; the assistance of Mrs. Samantha, who receive the guests is perfect. Superb Calabrian Vacation
Last year I travelled and visited the Gioiosa Ionica and surrounding areas with my parents. My parents are both from Calabria and born in the nearby community of Mammola. Since I have family from France and Canada who vacation in the area annually, I thought that it would be a good opportunity to return this year with my wife and two daughters (22 and 19) so that they can visit my parent’s birthplace and experience the Southern Italian culture with family. I am happy to say that my wife and daughters absolutely loved the two weeks in Calabria and look forward to returning to Gioiosa Ionica in the future. Our stay at the apartment exceeded our expectations. The night we arrived we were greeted by Samantha who was our contact. Samantha was very helpful and provided us with additional information of restaurants and local attractions.. The apartment is located in a non tourist area of Gioiosa Ionica in a gated complex. We met Giuseppe the property care taker who keeps the property and pool in tip-top shape. The apartment is new, spacious and clean. It accommodates four adults comfortably. My wife and two daughters ran or walked every day around the complex (1 lap is 0.28km) followed by a swim in the pool. For cyclists, a road bike can be rented at a bicycle shop located in Siderno. My daughter and I rented a bike and cycled to the nearby villages in the mountains and Giffone which is at an elevation of 1000 m and approximately 28 km from the apartment. It was a very interesting experience. The food is great. We visited restaurants, located in Gioiosa, Mammola, Rochella and the Limina. The cuisines are typical Calabrese and provide an excellent selection of dishes. If you like spicy pasta sauce such as Arrabiata, I recommend you try a Calabrian pasta dish with the Il Cortise sauce. It is an excellent primi dish. We experienced great food in Calabria at the restaurants we visited. We also brought take home food from a nearby restaurant. My family experienced the typical Calabrian culture by staying at the Villaggio Bergamotto and highly recommends it. We all loved our stay at the apartment and wish to thank Lou and Samantha for providing us with excellent accommodations.

Great holiday - The real Italy.
Lovely complex it is exactly how it looks on the photos. The appartment was a spacious enough for the four of us. We made excellent use of the hire car and saw lots of local little towns. There are 2 bars in walking distance from the complex which was more than enough we even made use of the takeaway service to save cooking. The local markets are well worth going to. The cascada in a local town is well worth a visit if we had found it earlier we would have been back more than once. You can BBQ here you just take your own food and hire a BBQ there is a man made beach and the waterfall is refreshing. Samantha was on hand had we needed anything but things were very relaxed and we got by with a phrase book. This holiday gives you a real sense of Italy. We loved it. Thanks

An amazing holiday
My friends and I had an amazing time in Calabria, it was fantastic to be able to see the traditional Italy. The apartment was clean, modern and spacious and provides everything required for a comfortable stay. There are lots of places to visit, I would recommend driving to the port and catching the ferry over to Sicily, we went to a place called Taormina and it was stunning, unfortunately time ran out as there was still Mount Etna to visit which was breath taking. If you’re looking for a more relaxing holiday there is a lovely pool area where you can sit in the sun and take a dip when it gets too hot. The food is amazing and I was surprised how cheap it was to eat there, I would recommend Paola’s which is just around the corner form the apartments, the food is to die for and the staff are extremely friendly. I can definitely recommend staying in these apartments and I hope to return in the near future

Fantastic Family Vacation
My family (myself, husband, kids, ages 7 and 9, and my mother-in-law) stayed in the Bergamotto apartment the first week of July 2012 and had a fantastic time! The apartment is very clean and matches the pictures posted on the listing. Lou, the owner, is very friendly and was quick in answering all our questions. The local agent, Samantha, was punctual for our scheduled meeting time and was available for any questions during our stay. There were only a handful of families staying in the complex at the time of our stay, so it was quiet and relaxing. My kids enjoyed having the pool all to themselves so much that we didn’t get to the beach until our third day! Even though there isn’t any crime in Gioiosa, the complex is gated so we felt very safe. We felt quite at home in the apartment and had lots of room to spread out and relax. The apartment has four balconies so there was always a sunny or shady place to sit. The kids enjoyed watching the chickens in the mornings roam the orange grove next door. The apartment was the perfect place for us to stay – modern conveniences and resort-like atmosphere – while I showed my kids where their maternal grandparents came from and introduced them to extended family. We are hoping that another second cousin gets married in the near future so we have a “reason” to travel back to Gioiosa and stay in the Bergamotto apartment again!

Our family vacation in Gioiosa Jonica
We all had a great vacation and right from the beginning when we arrived we were impressed because the complex was exactly as we had seen in the photos. Samantha greeted us as soon as we arrived and was very pleasant and explained to us what we needed to now also knowing she spoke Italian was good for my mother. She was there whenever we needed her. We never had any issues we were pleased with the complex and enjoyed the pool with other families that were also on holidays. The shopping, restaurants, ocean were close by. Gioiosa, Jonica was where my brothers I were born, it was great that the complex was in the same town. It was nice for me to show my son and daughter the roots from where I came from, and having my mom with me explaining our lives growing up in Italy before immigrating to Canada. This would definitely be a place we would return to in the future.

Great place for a relaxing holiday
We had a wonderful time here and everything was on hand for a great stay. The owner had arranged for shopping of essential items to be done prior to our arrival which was really useful since we arrived on Sunday evening. Sam (the agent in Gioiosa) was really kind and helpful and was on hand if needed throughout our holiday. The apartment’s four balconies were useful in that we could find a location which suited our needs through-out the day and eat alfresco when we wanted. The complex is less than a year old and yet we found the community of people who own the apartments to be extremely friendly and the pool and grounds well maintained and secure which was a priority for us since we have a nine year old child. Although a car was needed for this stay the beaches are just a couple of miles away and are idyllic and although sparsely occupied at the time we visited, this suited us. Calabria is refreshingly different; is untouched by package holiday tourism and it's negative trappings; is relatively inexpensive if you want to eat out (restaurant wise we found some gems) and on the whole, the locals we encountered went out of their way to welcome us. Gioiosa is a good base and is split into resort (two miles away), main town and ancient hilltop town (both about half a mile away) so there is plenty to do locally. We found the surrounding countryside of the Aspramonte National Park beautiful,and the occupants of Bergamotta were adept at giving us tips on the best places to visit. In particular, Gerace is a breath-taking hilltop town which is a must and less than half an hour away. All in all, we highly recommend this place.

FANTASTIC PLACE
What a fantastic place to capture and experience the 'real' Italy. The location is rustic, beautiful and very welcoming. The Apartment is modern, very clean, spacious and provides all that is needed for a comfortable stay. It is ideally located to experience the surrounding villages and towns. Make sure you make the effort to visit the rustic villages set in the hillsides they are breathtaking ! and as for the food - traditional, home cooking fantastic ! Drive up the coastline and experience the beautiful beaches and views. Fantastic holiday would definetly go back to the location and apartment. Very recommended
