Beautiful home in the Northwoods

We enjoyed our week in this spacious home! Plenty of room for our party of 8. Very comfortable main level, and the jacuzzi tub was a bonus! The lower level is noticeably colder, even in the middle of summer. I'd suggest cozy pajamas and slippers for those staying down there. Overall we appreciated the amenities (washer/dryer/dishwasher/etc.) and would definitely stay here again! Host was very friendly and communicative, also helped make our stay even better!

Great location

The cabin was beautiful and had everything we needed, we loved eating out on the cover deck. The location was great, close to town but very private and secluded. The yard was big and has lots of shade our dog loved it!

Our June stay on the Pixley

This place is awesome. It had everything we needed to complete a wonderful week up north. The owner was very accommodating & even gave us a few fishing pointers to get us started - which turned into success for Pike, Bass, Walleye, & even a couple of Musky. I would highly recommend this property for anyone wanting an up north feel though with all the accommodations of home and then some!!

Really great place!

Not much to complain about! Very spacious, beautiful home on a great section of the Flambeau River. Lots of room for many family members. Had most everything we needed for our week stay. Kitchen was great size, well stocked, and we appreciated the large dining table for our family meals. Fishing was so-so, but that is certainly not a reflection on the owner, maybe more that we didn't give it as much attention as we should have to figure out the good spots, but weather wasn't too cooperative at times. Perfect location, as it was close enough to town (Park Falls) for anything we needed, but far enough to feel secluded. Great access to water both above and below the nearby dam. We kayaked down river one day and it was amazing. Considering I grew up in the area, I will strongly consider this place every time I need to spend some time in my old hometown. Great thanks to the owner for sharing his wonderful home with us. Hopefully we will be back again!

Awesome Family Vacation

This place was beautiful and big enough for our entire family. Our kids all have a fiancé or boyfriend and they were all there. We loved being able to fish off the dock, kayak right out back, get in the boat right from the dock, and the view in the morning with the loons in on the water was amazing. We all had a chance to explore the northern area and had a wonderful place to come back and gather. The large jetted tub in the upstairs bathroom was awesome for just relaxing and taking care of the sore muscles from the day. Thank you so much for sharing this property with others

Relaxing Getaway

We had a wonderful week at this cabin. It's in a very quiet location and the yard has a nice gradual slope to the water. We enjoyed kayaking the lake (we even used the portage over the dam one day) and catching a bunch of smallmouth and pike. We also made use of the rowboat with trolling motor and the canoe. The cabin is well equipped with quality cook wear and just about anything else you would need during your stay. An added bonus is not needing to buy bottled water because the well water is great to drink!

Vacation 2023

Great, quiet property. Home was very clean and comfortable. Property owner was very attentive and friendly. Property isn't infant friendly because it is a bi-level, and the stair railing isn't suitable for a baby gate. Also rails would allow a mobile baby to crawl through. However is perfect for older children that can manage stairs.

A wonderful location and beautiful home!

We stayed for a week with our two kids and two dogs. To have a cabin with an attached garage is a blessing! It rained most of the time- so the large deck was a blessing to still be able to see the fall colors! Fishing was a blast! The large yard was fantastic for the kids to play. The kitchen is well stocked with cookware which made our week easier. All the conveniences made the week very comfortable and enjoyable. It’s also close enough to town that you can run and grab what you need. We will definitely be back! Thank you Lane, for opening up your home to us!

Great potential, just need some attention.

Nice place, nice location, just a few issues. Send like the place hadn't gotten enough attention lately. Main bathroom toilet is nearly falling off. Washing machine is great to have but needs to be adjusted. Way out of balance and walks across the room. Many kitchen pots, pans, knives, etc are really old. Not a lot of communication or instructions. Had to contact owner on day of arrival to find out how to get in. When you are there, just not welcoming, but more threatening about getting out on time and don't leave anything behind our they will charge you$35 to return it. We did have a great time, and with a little attention, this would be 5 stars.

House Needs TLC but Vacation was everything we needed

We had a wonderful time at this beautiful Northwoods retreat. My son said the exterior colors reminded him of the old Lincoln Logs toys (which the house supplied in the game closet). Upon arrival we noticed the grounds were not well maintained, maybe someone came to mow the lawn but there were many weeds and dead leaves (I assume from last fall) covering the yard and we had to sweep and rake to enjoy the campfire area. The pier has seen better days but was usable and we enjoyed fishing from there. We also had to clean out the row boat, canoe and the grill in order to use them. PLEASE NOTE: there is no propane grill at this property (as pictured) so be prepared to bring charcoal. There is a cute beach (Smith Lake County Park) about a 20 minute boat ride (or 10 minute car ride) from the house. There were other small issues that Lane said he was aware of: The front door handle was broken so we had to use the garage entrance, but not a big deal. The back sliding door gave us trouble and kept coming off the track which forced us to use the lower level patio door. On the Upper level patio There was only one chair and patio loveseat (the photos show 4 chairs and loveseat) so I would advise to bring your own camp chairs. I cleaned residue out the coffee maker and some of the dishes had leftover food particles on them when we arrived. I also bought a Swiffer to clean the kitchen and dining area floors because we like to walk barefoot but our feet were turning black. There was a single mouse dropping downstairs on the office desk where my son was drawing but I know rodents are inevitable so I was actually surprised we didn’t see more remnants. The beds were all comfortable and the hot water was nice and hot for showers and washing. The house was well stocked with linens, utensils and small kitchen appliances. There is WiFi so we brought our Roku (at the owners advisement) for the kids to watch a show when it rained, but it did not always work properly and we had a poor cell signal even when connected to WiFi. Overall, although we had to work a bit for it, we had a terrific time and would definitely come back!

The cabin is wonderful with plenty of room for our dogs and kids to spread out. The tub was a wonderful relaxing addition. The scenery is great! And fishing was fun on the dock. The cabin was clean when we got there and the kitchen was well stocked with supplies for a week of homemade cooking. Grocery store is super close by! We loved it and we will be back!

Peaceful Vacation

This place is beautiful and very spacious. The lake and area are very peaceful. The boat was a little small for the 4 of us, but it was still fun. We spent a lot of time fishing from the dock (which is very nice). Also got to watch the BIG snapping turtle that lives under it. He came out every evening. The inside of the cabin has so much room. From the kitchen to the living room, bathrooms, bedrooms and downstairs area we were very comfortable. We watched movies and played darts, boardgames and foosball. The jaquzz tub is also bonus, very relaxing. The owner Lane was very responsive and helpful with any questions that we had. He also messaged us at the beginning and end of our stay to make sure we were comfortable. We throughly enjoyed our relaxing week. It was exactly what we needed. Thank you Lane for sharing your home with us. 😊

About the host

Your host

Host profile image
I grew up in the Park Falls/Phillips area and after several years away, I wanted a place to call my own. I have a successful financial planning practice and my son Michael is going to be in 6th grade. We do not get to spend near as much time at the property as we would like due to work and school schedules. We love coming up there when we can, and truely enjoy the clients that share their experiences at Paradise on the Pixley. Over half of our guests return year after year.

Why they chose this property

The natural setting of the Flambeau River System with the State and National Forrests nearby, make a truely unique landscape. My parents live nearby as well, so it is always great to see them.

What makes this property unique

I truely believe you can not find a more relaxing place to be. You will not hear one jet ski or ski boat on the water. The full length second floor deck facing the water is most people's favorite spot. The large bedrooms and updated kitchen, along with the two full baths insure everyone will be comfortable. I have a very loyal, hardworking team of maintenance and cleaning people that make the property feel like home.

Premier Host

They consistently provide great experiences for their guests
