Lovely apartment in a fantastic position

Thank you Roberta for a wonderful stay in your beautiful and well appointed apartment. It was very comfortable and had everything one could need. The check-in was seamless and the one request I made was promptly fulfilled. The neighbourhood is lively but the apartment is very quiet for sleeping. There are many good bars and restaurants very close and the kitchen has everything needed to cook your own meals. It's such easy walking distance from all the city, from the Uffizi and other tourist attractions and from the river and the Oltrarno. I would gladly stay here again next time I come to Florence. Thank you again Roberta and it was lovely to meet you. Best regards, Karen

A Royal experience in a palace

We loved our stay at the Palazzo Bardi. The building is a historic palazzo which is very well preserved. The apartment is excellent with the bathroom and shower which were marble and excellent water strength and convenience/spacious. We have traveled all around Italian North and Tuscany and this was one of the most spacious apartments. Well air conditioned and appointed. I can’t think of any negatives. And location is close to everything. I totally would be back if I visited Florence again.

Lovely property

Overall, we enjoyed our stay, despite a rough start to our vacation. Our flight was delayed 24 hrs due to a mechanical problem. Roberta was wonderfully understanding about arriving later than scheduled. Then on the first evening I was admiring the upper levels of the courtyard and inadvertently stepped off a low curb (remember, this is a centuries old building, but no caution paint/tape was visible for this dangerous drop off). So this ankle injury (fractured fibula above the ankle) altered our plans yet again. Again, Roberta was understanding and helpful with info including even calling taxis for us. A+ for property management and D- for safety warnings for newcomers to the building.

2nd Honeymoon in Florence

This little apartment was the perfect accommodation for my wife and I. We spent a whole month in Florence. The apartment is in walking distance of all the sights and if you don't mind trailing your suitcase it's only 20 minutes from the main train station. Sometimes we cooked in and sometimes we ate out. Our only complaint is the internet was very slow at times. Our host was so gracious and checked on us periodically to make sure we were comfortable and all was ok. We would definitely stay here again.

Nice apartment in an excellent location

If the air conditioning had been functioning this would have been perfect, but it was very hot inside which made it difficult to sleep. The portable temporary AC couldn’t keep the apartment below 26 Celsius, which for us was simply too warm. We would absolutely stay here again once the AC is fixed, or during the winter when it doesn’t matter. Excellent otherwise.

Stop searching and request to book!

Roberta's place is an absolute dream! It is a perfect match of Florentine architecture with comfortable modern amenities. The apartment is visually stunning with plenty of room for a family of four. There are comfortable beds, air conditioning, a beautiful bathroom and with HUGE tub, well equipped kitchen and a great little window desk that our kids enjoyed writing and drawing at. If I could give it 100 stars I would! This place is perfect!! Thank you Roberta!

Magical Apartment

Roberta's apartment is as unique as the pictures depict. You feel as if you were in a renaissance chamber. Also, Roberta was very patient and helpful when, due to our luggage getting delayed at the airport, we had a difficult time connecting for check-in. The location is ideal, just on the edge of the historical center, so easy to get to all attractions but not right in the middle of the tourist chaos. Would stay there again if we return to Florence.

Palazzo Bardi

I thoroughly enjoyed staying at the Palazzo Bardi during my recent visit to Florence. It is a beautiful, historical building and the apartment has all the comforts that one needs when on holiday. It is centrally located, only a few minutes walk from museums and galleries. Roberta made me very welcome and the apartment was a wonderful haven at the end of a busy day . Thank you Roberta.

We really wanted to like it!

This is an absolutely lovely and historical apartment, located in an ideal location- one of my favourite locations in Florence. That said, the apartment is on Via dei Benci, which is a busy road, with many restaurants, bars, businesses and hangout spots which is a benefit during the day, but there is a lot of street noise in the evening and at night EVERYDAY but Sundays. We were woken up every night from 11pm - 3am from people having fun on the street. Bring ear plugs. Also 2 mornings we were woken up by workers working in the courtyard at 6am which our bedroom overlooks. More positives: The kitchen is fully stocked with quality amenities. The bathroom is spacious, to which a washing machine is located- a bonus! Our biggest complaint was how many mosquitoes were in the apartment. As this is an old building there are not screens on the windows. We only opened the shutters to try to control how many came in, but every morning we woke up with MANY bites! My husband ended up with at minimum 40 bites! I have at least 25 total! We have photos showing them including on our face and neck! In addition they would wake us up by the sound of TZZZZZZ in our ears! They were constantly attacking us as we tried to sleep! We honestly could NOT have stayed another night due to the mosquitoes! A mosquito net is absolutely needed for above the bed! The internet is OK- we did not have it for a full day, which we weren't sure why. I have been to Florence 6 times and discovered something important about myself after staying in this apartment. It really is a lovely apartment, but one thing that I truly need it to be able to see the sky. The view from all 3 outside windows is of a building wall. As there is no outdoor living space at all, with no view of the sky I felt a bit claustrophobic. Not everyone will feel the same way in this regard, so please keep that in mind. I do however need a brighter space with the ability to either sit outside, or at least see outside to enjoy something of a view. I gave this apartment 3 stars instead of 2, as I didn't' want to sound too negative. It may be the perfect apartment for some but not for my husband and me for 3 reasons- mosquitoes, lacked a good nights sleep and the lack of a view of anything.

THE place to stay when in Florence!

If you enjoy history, beauty, and modern comfort, you definitely should stay in this apartment! The building in which the apartment is located (one block from the beautiful Arno River), is rich in history (built in the late 1400s for the Bardi family who had close ties with the Medici family) and is so very beautiful. The arched (coved) ceilings, original windows/shutters, tiled floors, and a lovely antique wardrobe give the apartment an old-world ambience, while the modern kitchen and bathroom (with a clothes washer) provide all of the creature comforts needed. The heating system works great (kept us warm and cozy in April) and the bed was very comfortable with lovely linens and fluffy pillows. There is a comfy sofa/sleeper in the living room to watch the flat-screen TV (although we never turned it on) and the WiFi system was robust. Afternoon sunshine filters into the living room which enhances the ambience. Roberta, the owner, is very charming and met us at the apartment to show my husband and I the place and to make sure that we had everything that we needed for our 1 week stay. The apartment is situated on the 1st Floor (2nd floor for Americans) and did have one flight of wide stairs (easily negotiable) up to the apartment landing - there is no elevator. Very quiet - the apartment's bedroom overlooks the peaceful interior courtyard while the living room/dining area/kitchen (on the west side of the building) overlook a narrow side street that does not have any shops/restaurants on it so there is very little pedestrian traffic and almost no vehicle traffic. There is a wonderful restaurant on the ground floor of the building (La Bruchetta) that we highly recommend - we dined there 3 times! Reservations are recommended...first seating at 7 pm. Just around the corner is the Hop-on-Hop-Off open air bus that will take you all around Florence and even up to Fiesole (do go there!). Easy walking distance to the Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio, Pitti Palace, and Santa Croce church...just an excellent location all around! We LOVED it!

Classic living in a classic city

This is a wonderful place to live for a time. Clean, quiet, well equipped and appointed for a romantic couple. The classic entry welcomes you after your busy Florence days of walking. Don't overlook the wonderful restaurant in the building with the street entry. It's one of the best we experienced during our week long stay. It's so unobtrusive that we didn't realize it was in the building until our 3rd day. You will enjoy your stay here; it's unlike most that are available in Florence. Have fun!

A lovely, convenient place to stay in Florence.

My husband and I had such a beautiful time, spending 11 days here. It was like living in the Renaissance in one of the earliest Renaissance buildings in the city, with a courtyard designed by Brunelleschi, who designed the Duomo and Santa Croce. The apartment itself is simple and immaculate, perfect for two people. The owner is so gracious and kind, the apartment "book" is informative and helpful. I cooked there almost every day. The kitchen was convenient and well-stocked. The location is marvelous. Downstairs is La Buchetta, one of Florence's best restaurants (and that's saying something in a city where exquisite food is almost the norm!). A Conad supermarket is around the corner. Via de Neri is steps away, with many little shops and delicious gelato. Municipal electric minibuses (C1 & C3) are across the street -- go anywhere for 1.5E. I highly recommend this apartment. Where needed, modern kitchen and bathroom make it easy. Yet I so treasured staying in such a visually authentic place. It's not fancy; it's simple...simply beautiful too.

Amazing!

This apartment is fantastic! The location puts you within 15 minutes (or less) walking of all the major tourist sites on that side of the Arno. There are several excellent restaurants, gourmet take away shops and grocers within a few steps. The apartment is spacious, comfortable, well appointed and exceedingly clean. We spent a week and could have easily spent more time here.

Beautiful, comfortable, convenient, safe, and quiet apartment!

This was our favorite place we stayed during our Italian holiday. The apartment is so spacious and beautiful, and was furnished perfectly. We loved the entry through the courtyard, only one easy flight of stairs to the door, and the arched ceiling was a reminder that we were in the ancient city of Florence. At night we slept soundly in the quiet bedroom, on the comfortable bed. We also really appreciated having laundry in the apartment. The kitchen was fully equipped although we chose to eat at the local delicious cafes. We found the location very convenient for exploring Florence - all the popular sights were an easy walk away. We had no problems or issues, and communication with Roberta was easy. We would definitely stay here again if we return to Florence (I hope so!), and I highly recommend you stop searching and grab this apartment! Thank you Roberta for making it available for travellers like us!

Charming apartment close to Santa Croce

This was our 3rd stay in this apartment and we enjoyed it as much as our previous trips. The apartment is located in a lovely old building with a charming inner courtyard. It is located close to Santa Croce and has easy walking access to the main tourist areas of Florence. The apartment is simply furnished in-keeping with its historical features. Roberta met us on arrival and was a very welcoming and helpful host. We hope to come back for a 4th Trip!

The apartment is beautiful, the pictures in the VRBO listing really show you what to expect. Roberta was so helpful when we first arrived, and gave us some great tips about the neighborhood. The location is so convenient to all the main attractions in Florence, yet is quiet and peaceful at night. We very much enjoyed our four night stay.

Excellent place to start exploring Florence :)

We have been in the appartment for some nights and really enjoyed our stay. Nothing critical to say (as critical German ;) just a positive experience and a very good placed and equipped interesting location. Contact was very friendly and reliable, the appartment was well equipped everything in good condition. We experinced the location as being quiet enough to relax when we had little breaks "at home". I can recommend this appartment and would return :)

Accommodation in Florence

The building of the apartment was designed by Brunelleschi and is stunning. We were particularly impressed with the majestic court yard. The apartment itself was spacious and well-equipped. We really liked the dome ceilings. Roberta and Laura were warm and welcoming hosts. We highly recommend this apartment and look forward to returning.

Live in the Renaissance with Modern Comforts

On this, our fourth trip to Florence, we wanted to be immersed in the Renaissance and this apartment suited us perfectly. Thought to be designed by Brunelleschi, in the 16th century, it was the home of the Florentine Camerata, a group of humanists, musicians, poets and intellectuals who met under the patronage of Count Giovanni de' Bardi to discuss and foster trends in the arts. The Camerata's musical endeavors led to the development of opera. Galileo's musician father was a member. The Palazzo has recently been renovated and now makes an ideal base for exploring Florence. The apartment is exactly as described. Roberta promptly answered all our questions before our arrival and was equally responsive once we checked in. She greeted us upon our arrival and showed us how things worked. We appreciated her providing essentials for breakfast the next morning as well as basic household supplies. In the middle of our stay she checked back with us it make sure everything was OK. The bed and other furniture in the apartment are comfortable and in good condition. Everything is clean. Nice decorating touches make it feel very personal and homey. It is generally quiet at night. The WiFi, heating, and hot water were all excellent. Since we wanted to prepare most of our meals in the apartment, there were a few things we missed having: a microwave, a salad spinner, and sharp knives. The location could not be more central, and yet it is quiet and outside of the worst of the tourist crush. There is a supermarket a couple of minutes away and small food stores abound nearby. It is only a ten minute walk from the Sant'Ambrogio market, a much better choice for a genuine Florentine experience than the Central Market, which has sold its soul to tourism. We highly recommend the Museo Horne just across the street, for a fascinating look at another palazzo. We would definitely recommend this apartment to friends visiting Florence.
