More info below!

We are available to guests by email, phone, or text. We know our neighborhood very well (!) and care about our community- let us know when you need something or have questions!

The Short North Arts District is one of the Midwest’s best kept secrets. There is a huge variety of unique shops, bars and restaurants, and art galleries along High Street and a number of annual events that take place year-round. We have a thorough list of recommendations in the house to local bakeries, cafes, and restaurants.

The Short North is made up of several historic neighborhoods; this home is located in Weinland Park, a cool, urban area on the East side of High St above 5th Ave. Weinland Park still has its edgy, up-and-coming vibe- there is a lot of construction and development still underway, real estate is hot here despite its sometimes worn look. You will see a lot of renovated homes as well as ones not-yet-touched. The neighborhood is home to a mix of young professionals and families. This apartment is in walking distance to High Street and N. 4th Street coffee shops, restaurants, and bars!

IS THE NEIGHBORHOOD SAFE?
We live nearby and feel the neighborhood is relatively safe, but it can feel a bit intimidating if you are not use to city living. Please note this is the city- we do have petty crime in the Short North and University area, and always advise to practice not leaving valuables in your car (we have not had any issues at our apartments, I state this because we are in the city) and walk with a buddy at night on well-lit, busy roads such as High Street, Summit, and 5th Ave.

Near the following:
• Restaurants- The Table, Condados, Fox in the Snow, Basil
• Bars & breweries- Seventh & Son, North High Brewing, Brother Drakes
• Grocery stores- Kroger & Giant Eagle Market Fresh (Third Ave, Grandview)
• Fitness gyms- Cross Fit, Short North Fitness, Thank Yoga

Just miles from the following:
• Columbus Convention Center- 1.3 mi
• Goodale Park- 1.4 mi
• Ohio State University Stadium- 2 mi
• Schottenstein Center- 2.3 mi
• Ohio Expo Center/ Fairgrounds/Maphre Crew Stadium- 1.5 mi
• Downtown- all areas of interest are within 3 mile radius!
• Easton Town Center- 10.8 mi
• Columbus Zoo- 20 mi

You will have access to your side of the duplex and the fenced backyard. The backyard and parking are shared with the other side of the duplex.

Hours of Access:
Check-in is 4 p.m.
Check-out is 10 a.m.

Upon entering this duplex, you will be welcomed by the open living and dining areas. The living room and dining room both have seating for 6. The smart TV, sans cable service, is set up for your personal streaming accounts.

In the back of the house, the kitchen is supplied with every tool and small appliance you need to prepare a decent meal, along with some cooking staples such as olive oil, salt, and pepper. We also have a coffee machine with Folgers coffee, teas, creamer, and sugar.

The second floor of the duplex is where you will find the 3 bedrooms and the bathroom. Each bedroom has a queen-sized bed. The bathroom has a walk-in shower.

The washer and dryer are in the unfinished basement of the house and can be accessed by the door between the kitchen and the dining room.

The house has small porches in both the front and the rear of the duplex. The fenced-in backyard is shared with the other half of the duplex and has a grill for cooking out.

Only registered, paying overnight guests are permitted at the residence.

Pet dogs are allowed for a $35 fee per dog per day, max $200/month per dog. Due to system configuration, we may need to adjust the pet fee (for stays over 1 day and/or multiple dogs) after your reservation is made. Please notify us upon booking if you are bringing your pet pup. All pet waste must by promptly removed and disposed of by the pet owner. If feces are left behind, a $20 fee will be charged for cleanup. Thank you for helping us maintain a clean and pleasant environment for all guests!

Some sound can travel between the two sides of the duplex. We observe quiet hours from 9PM to 9AM. If there is a noise issue, please contact us 24/7 and vice versa, we will contact you. If you perceive noise will be an issue, please consider renting a home that does not have another unit under the same roof.

Start-up quantities of amenities such as toilet paper and paper towels are provided. Replenishment is up to the guest as they see fit.

There is no handicap access. There are steps to enter the front and back porches of the house and no bedrooms or bathrooms on the first floor.

Great experience.

We were in town for my son’s football tournament at the OSU stadium. The house clean, welcoming and exactly like the pictures. The communication with the owner was great. They responded quickly and checked it on us daily. We felt at home and would stay again.

Short North Stay

Exterior stairs both front and rear not easily navigable for aging adults. Stairs crooked/uneven, too high to navigate alone. Shower is not slip proof. Bare slate floor is slippery and should have mat or strips to prevent slips/falls.

The beds were super comfy, common spaces were very clean and enjoyable, and the location was very walkable. Only drawback was that some of the doors were a bit noisy/difficult to close

Lovely older home close to convention center

We were in town for a national sports tournament at the convention center. We really like the convenient location- we could easily walk to the convention center and avoid paying the $25/day parking fee there. The house itself looked just like the photos and was very comfortable. Many extra amenities were provided by the host such as coffee, a small snack basket, soap and shampoo, cooking and cleaning basics. The largest bedroom also had a nice desk area that was useful since we had to work remoteIy some of the time. I would have given this stay 5 stars, except that the bed in the largest bedroom was so noisy we couldn't use that room to sleep (luckily we only needed two out of the three bedrooms), and some flooring upstairs was so loose I was afraid to walk barefoot. Also, although this might be expected in a home that is pet friendly, the living room smelled faintly of dog smell but was covered up by a strong air freshener. There was also evidence of a pet stain on the carpet. I don't have a pet so I may be extra-sensitive to these smells and issues, however. If I was a pet owner, I would have really appreciated the towels hanging at each door to clean off your pet before coming in to the house. Although the neighborhood didn't seem perfectly safe (there were signs all over about not leaving valuables in our car, and there had been a major shooting close by just a month before), we never experienced a problem. Overall, would totally stay here again.

Quick trip

Property was really great, had everything we needed. Only problem was the noisy street. The bedroom at front of house can be very noisy which makes it tough to sleep. There at ear plugs, but I didn’t use them…didn’t want to miss alarm clock for very early mornings planned.

Easy stop in Columbus

We stopped in Columbus for a couple nights on our way back to Wisconsin from the East Coast. This house was a convenient and comfortable base for us to explore the neighborhood and relax when we were done. It looks exactly like the photos (very spacious). I appreciated the communication with the property owner. They left helpful instructions for most things in the house and checked in via text after our first night. Our favorite part of the stay was being able to walk just a few blocks to get to Budd Dairy Food Hall, Seventh Son Brewing Company, and Fox in the Snow cafe. Highly recommend all three!

Lovely Rental With Personal Touches

What you see in the pictures is exactly what you get, a clean, comfortable home. The kitchen was well equipped. It was nice to not have to purchase some of the basics salt, pepper, oil. I was delighted with the mini coffee bar and snack basket. The welcome note on the board was sweet. Plenty of towels. I would rent and recommend this property / company.

Great little townhouse

This is the second time we’ve stayed here and it’s great for attending an osu football game It’s a clean comfy, well stocked little place for a couple. With only 1 bathroom a family or a group might be hard The electronic locks make entry easier but know that they are disabled at exactly 10am on checkout day. After loading the car we went back in to grab trash we forgot and at 10:02 the code couldn’t lock the door. A 5-10 minute grace period might be a good idea. Other than that we had no issues

Great Guys Weekend

My two adult sons and I stayed here while attending March Madness games at Nationwide Arena. The directions sent were very helpful to find the parking area behind the house. The house is very nice inside. Some people might be nervous at the neighborhood it is in. But we didn’t have any issues. Plenty of room with three bedrooms and loved having the upstairs/downstairs space. We used the nearby Kroger for groceries. Definitely a perk!

About the host

Hosted by Rowe Rentals

Host profile image
Mike and Ingrid met in Japan and moved to Columbus in 2009 and have been loving it ever since! They are both experienced travelers & love renovating historic homes. It seemed natural to combine their hobbies of traveling and renovating- so they started hosting in 2015. Hello Rowe Rentals! Our team, Frances, Ingrid, and Mike, knows quite a bit about the Short North and are pleased to help you during your stay-please contact Rowe Rentals for any questions!

Why they chose this property

We love old buildings and this one is no exception- it was built around 1910. Unfortunately the only historic parts left of the house interior are the pine wood floors (which are great!)... the rest of the house has been fully renovated.

What makes this property unique

Please note the following about our apartments: Our homes range from 97 to 135 years old. If you are in search of a perfect, flawless place to stay, you may want to look for newer build. We love being hosts- providing a home to stay in and delivering a unique experience when visiting this city but please keep in mind this is not a 5 star hotel, it’s a home.
