The coastline in both directions offers some of the most breathtaking scenery in the West Country, and there are many long sandy beaches and hidden coves to explore. Appledore, with its cobbled streets and bustling quayside, is ideally placed to explore this glorious location. Just a short walk away is a vast array of popular village pubs, restaurants, cafés and shops, there really is something to please everyone. You can take the ferry to Instow, which is on the opposite side of the estuary, with its sandy beach, bars and restaurants, and the wide golden sandy beach of Northam Burrows.
Westward Ho!, popular with surfers, is just 1 mile away. Bideford, Exmoor, Clovelly and Hartland Quay are close by, and the area is a must for water sports, sailing enthusiasts and fishermen. Walkers and cyclists will enjoy the famous Tarka Trail, which passes close by. Young and old will enjoy crabbing off the quay, and golf and horse riding are available locally. For family fun, The Big Sheep and The Milky Way Adventure Parks are close by, and don’t miss the annual Appledore Regatta and the Book Festival. Beach 1 mile.
