About this property

Private Colonial Boutique House with a Cool Pool in the Heart of Downtown Cancun

Casa Los Angeles is a private colonial boutique house and it was named this because in each room you will find angel faces within the cement wall. Just one of many elegant touches you'll find throughout the home. The historic 2 bedroom newly renovated family home is an ideal home for privacy, relaxation and comfort.
Great location! In the heart of the historic center of Cancun just a block and a half away from the ADO Bus Terminal (to all tourist attractions) and half a block from Parque de las Palapas. Across the street is the very popular La Habichuela restaurant (downtown) and in a few minutes walk you are at the restaurants and bars of the Yaxchilan Avenue.
Bus service to all public beaches of the Hotel Zone is a block away or a 10-minute cab ride awaits you outside the front door.
Historic Colonial 2 bedroom house fully restored and furnished beautifully with two recreation areas, the back private garden has a beautiful covered patio with antique French tiles and furnished with outdoor furniture, the private refreshing pool is 19.7ft (6M) long and 5ft (1.5M) deep with a lounge area and teak sunbathing chairs. The front terrace has a coal BBQ grill a table and chairs perfect for your cookouts with friends or for a nice family dinner.
There are two private bedrooms (The Sun and The Moon room). Both bedrooms are equipped with quiet inverter A/C units and ceiling fans, large closets, luxury pillows, high-quality sheets and beautiful queen size bedding. The Sun-room is the master with walk-out sliding doors to the covered garden patio and has its own private bathroom with large shower and high ceilings. The Sun-room also has HD TVs perfect to watch movies in bed. The Moon room has spectacular views of the pool and access to the nicely decorated second bathroom with a bathtub large enough for two people and designed to look and feel like a small pool.
The comfortably furnished living room and the master bedroom have beautiful restored antique Mosaic Pasta Tile floors ubiquitous to historic colonial homes in The Yucatan Peninsula (Google everything playadelcarmen/pasta-tiles/). Traditional baked clay floors are in the dining room, kitchen and foyer.
The kitchen is furnished with a nice high-top wood table and beautiful colonial windows with views to the front patio, It features a marble countertop, stainless-steel appliances, a gas stove, electric and microwave oven, toaster, coffee maker, cookware, wine/drinking glassware and table linen. The utility room is furnished with washer/dryer.

We have two ring security cámaras on the roof, one facing to the front and one facing to the back.
This cámaras are another layer of security for our guests, they are pointed to the outer perimeters of the house and are only monitored at nights, mostly when the house is vacant.
The back cámara can’t see the pool area giving our guests full privacy.

My bi-lingual (English and Spanish) property manager Lety, is a native of Yucatan and part of our family. She is on call 24-hours a day. She will make sure you have everything you need for your perfect vacation and Manuel, the gardener, daily takes care of the grounds and the pool.

Amazing!

We absolutely loved the property! Location was great for walking around and exploring. Many people would stop by and comment on how beautiful the yard was and take pictures of the bird wall. The house has a very calm, tranquil feel about it so it is a great place to relax and live a very simple, uncomplicated life. Lety, the property manager, is amazing. Whatever you need, she will help you with. Manuel, the groundskeeper, is also amazing. He does a great job looking after and maintaining the yard and pool. The fresh “cocos” were a very nice treat that we absolutely loved. This is a wonderful property and we are very much looking forward to our next stay!

AMAZING home & overall fantastic stay in such a lovely location! If I could I would give this a A+++

We recently stayed at this beautifully furnished & equipped home over the Christmas holidays. I would like to first start by our booking experience. The owner was very quick to respond & the process was very simple. Much to our delight upon arrival, the owner surprised us with a beautiful flower arrangement with lilies & roses for our anniversary. The home was decorated for the holiday with a poinsettia (which served as our christmas tree) and red ornaments in glass bowls through out the house, such a lovely touch for the holidays. The house was very clean & kitchen pantry stocked with basic supplies, coffee, olive oil, salt/ pepper, napkins, etc. The kitchen was also supplied with everything you would need to cook at home, which we did on several occasions....all the utensils from a whisk to colander. Each bedroom had ceiling fans & individual air conditioning remotely controlled. Lots of wardrobe space. The bathrooms with linens/shampoo/conditioner, cotton balls, q-tips, large showers & beautiful tile decorations. The backyard also beautifully furnished & supplied with citronella candles..we played cards many evenings..the neighborhood quite and on Christmas Eve would could hear the soft singing of christmas carols from a church nearby. The landscape was gorgeous with beautiful flowers. Getting around town was very easy & safe, short walk to the central bus terminal from were we purchased our tickets to visit both Tulum and Xelha on the same day, a must to see! Also a nearby grocery store, within a few blocks & our favorite spot, the "Parque Las Palapas" which had local food vendors each night, an amphitheater, where folks would sing and children driving little automobiles all lighted up which looked great at night. Nearby a great little ice cream shop and several artisanal markets also within walking distance. We took 2 trips to "Isla de la Mujeras" (10 min by taxi to the water front, then 15 min ferry boat to the island), to swim and lay out at the north beach (rented an umbrella & 2 chaise lounges for 300 pesos) & that was deducted from your purchase of food & drinks which could be brought to your seaside or eat in the restaurant overlooking the ocean. You need to inquire as not all the sections have that offer. Lastly & most importantly was our go to person "Lety" for questions & assistance. She was so very kind & personally drove us to a clinic when my son was ill. She went above & beyond to make our stay memorably. Thank you so much!!

We cannot speak highly enough of this location!!

The home was super clean and Lety was wonderful, especially helping us the the water situation 😄 and with airport transportation! It is surrounded by local restaurants, shopping and entertainment and everyone was just so kind and friendly. It was a great cultural experience. I find it very disappointing to hear anyone write that they felt unsafe in any aspect of the home or area, that is just not the case! We used another person's recommendation of using Senor Cruz for a tour to Playa Del Carmen and Tulum and he was absolutely wonderful!! Please consider him if you are looking to do any tours and pricing is reasonable for everything he provides (he loves to take photos, which we loved 😁). On a side note, we went during Covid and I give the whole area a 5+ star rating! From sanitizer, temp checks, and mask wearing, they did a great job on following protocol on making you feel safe! Thanks again for opening up your home and providing exceptional hospitality, we look forward to a return trip and will refer all of our family and friends!!

Rude and aggressive property manager

I stayed here for a month and a half during coronavirus lock down. I was constantly harrassed via whats app about my whereabouts, the owner was paranoid and spying on us via the cameras around the house and gardener. Their conduct was completely inappropriate to a level of harrassment. When I left the house I was treated very rudelt by the property manager, who insisted there were 3 beach towels and not 2, then proceeded to send me angry and aggressive videos about using pantry items such as sugar and coffee filters that she had told us we could use and other guests had left behind. I was there for a month and half and I sent money voluntarily above and beyond the initial arrangement to offset additional electricity costs for being home all day during lockdown. The property manager is incredibly rude and inappropriate and had absolutely no reason to be so aggressive and harrass me with her rudeness. Beware. Also, neighborhood is sketchy and I did not feel comfortable alone in the house at night.

First Trip to Cancun

The house and grounds are great. Lety, the property manager, showed us the neighborhood, where to shop, etc. She's terrific. We're not beach people so we wanted to stay in town. Downtown Cancun, while lively, is a little beat up and not that interesting to visit. We took taxis the first several days and they are readily available. We later rented car which gave us more mobility. (The property has a great place to park a car.)(My wife had recently broken her leg.) Loved everything about the place except the location...though there is a wonderful restaurant right across the street.

Muchas gracias!

Tirso (owner) and Lety (manager) were super attentive and took care of us for every detail. The area is a little far from the beach, but there are buses tgat take you everywhere and are very close by. The house is a small paradise and the pool is a plus! Lety also took the time to take us around to get us oriented and helped us with any questions we had Thank you both so much!

Could not have been more perfect!

We stay at a lot of VRBO properties, and have a condo that we rent out ourselves -- so we've seen from 'meh to great...I think this place exceeds GREAT! Lety, the manager does a great job of making that true. Understand what you're renting -- you're not on the beach, you're not in the hotel zone -- that is exactly what we wanted, and we wanted to wander and enjoy the food in the park, and enjoy some local smaller restaurants. Everything about the trip was perfect, and Lety even went over the top with some flowers to celebrate our anniversary. If you're going to stay in this area and do business locally, plan to speak SOME spanish, and have smaller bills (pesos) with you. Let Lety line up your transport -- the company was fabulous and a great deal...I didn't coming in, and I did leaving -- hers was better! :-) We will be back when we can, great spot, wonderful anniversary weekend!

Good location, great value for money. Worked well for us, a family with teenagers. Secure parking and nice outdoor area with pool. Good to have a washing machine as well. Slight downside, we were not expecting the security deposit to be taken on booking. Although we booked last minute so possibly we should have expected it. The deposit was refunded quickly however. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend.

Perfect retreat

My friend was in Cancun to have some dental work done and we didn’t want to stay in the hotel zone. This house was absolutely perfect for us! We spent most mid afternoons in the private pool catching up on our reading. The house had everything we needed and Letti made us feel immediately at home. The rooms were super comfortable and the backyard really is spectacular. We enjoyed meeting the gardener As we attempted to communicate with our limited language skills. We still managed to have a few laughs. We enjoyed walking down to Las Palapas Park To experience the locals with their families. The restaurant and bar overlooking the park, crustacean Cancun (name I think) Had the best margaritas we had and food was also delicious. We may have become regulars LOL. The prices were incredibly cheap. We also enjoyed La Chouabula Across the street. One of my favorite things was a cooking class, offered through Airbnb experiences or trip adviser. Cancun eats is the name I think. The chef was wonderful and we went to market 23 to buy The food and learn about local items. Then we went to a local restaurant For the cooking class which was hands-on, and got to get behind the bar and make margaritas ourselves. A day trip to Isle Majures racing around on a golf cart and taking in all the street art completed our excellent trip. There is a second park close to the house that we stumbled upon a wonderful local dance on Sunday night. We heard they have free dance lessons in the park so you should look into that if you’re there on a weekend. When I told people I was going to Cancun everybody said “be safe“. I have never felt safer, and ironically everyone I know who goes to the hotel zone says they are offered drugs and prostitutes, we were never offered anything once. Everybody smiled and greeted us graciously.. A vendor at market 23 that we had bought grilled chicken from even left his stand to put us on the bus to Isle Majures, waiting With us for at least 10 minutes. He refused a tip, said we were his friends. You will not be sorry if you book this house! I would love to go back someday.

Perfect Vaca House

Our 5 day, 4 night stay at Casa Los Angeles was amazing! Safe, private and peaceful. The house is exact as pictured, very clean so cute and well furnished. Loved all the angles around the home. The pool sooo refreshing!! Most Important the AC blows baby! lol Was there on our Annual Cousins Trip with my 3 best primas, we were all impressed with the excellent hospitality. The owner Tirzo is so fricken cool. Shout out to Leticia and Manuel who made us feel right at home. Leticia is so helpful right away she took charge and took me and one of my cousins around town to get familiar, exchange money and also booked us a bus ride to and from a resort I had booked for the next day. Literally held my hand lol Love her & I miss you Lety!! Manuel who made a store run for us so we wouldn't have to get out the pool! He's awesome! I couldn't stop saying thank you to him! haha Everything you need is in walking distance which is nice. We fell in love with the house, town and people and I hope to go back soon! I highly recommend for your stay!

Best location and charming home!

My adult daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed our 6 day stay in the heart of downtown Cancun. Lety was very helpful in setting up our transportation from the airport, getting us settled in the home and then, our first grocery trip. The house itself is exactly as represented with oodles of charm. We loved the convenience of lying in the sun with a 5 foot deep pool in our own backyard, while experiencing the real Cancun just a half block from the house. The Parque Las Palapas is a community park/square that offers events, vendors of food and crafts, rides for the kiddos, strolling, etc. We enjoyed an impressive dance show by a local studio while checking out the local wares and tastes. We highly recommend the restaurant across the street, La Habichuela. Great food, wonderful service and beautiful -- it's romantic, too. Experiencing the beaches of the Hotel Zone is easy enough by jumping on the bus which is just 2 blocks away. The ADO bus depot is just a block away, taking you to further sites, such as Chichen Itza and Playa Del Carmen. We spent most of our time in the neighborhood because it was far more interesting than the typical tourist experience of the Hotel Zone. In terms of safety, we never felt unsafe in the neighborhood or on any of our bus trips. The house has appropriate security. Everyone we met on our travels was pleasant and helpful, in fact, given that neither of us speak fluent Spanish. We will definitely return now that we know that it's the perfect spot for experiencing the Cancun culture along with easy access to the beautiful beaches that Cancun is known for.

Relaxing Oasis

My wife and I just stayed 6 nights and can't say enough about how nice, comfortable and relaxing this home and yard were. Coming home from the beach or whatever outing we went on each day to relax in a totally private back yard and pool was amazing and refreshing. It is like an oasis back there with palm trees and beautiful landscaping all around. You must experience the restaurant right across the street. The service, atmosphere and food is outstanding. We were very glad we did not rent a car. There are small taxis everywhere just steps away from the home and they will take you anywhere to the beach area or the ferry to Isla Mujeres for between $5 and $10. Being able to stay in the center and walk around the park where there are food stands, locals and music was a much richer experience than a hotel in the tourist area. We strongly suggest taking the ferry over to Isla Mujeres, renting lounge chairs and enjoying the beach for a day! It was so relaxed we went three days. Lety is an extremly kind lady. She will show you around when you get there and she arranged for service back to the airport and saw us off when we departed.

What a great place to relax

My wife and I spent a week here and it was great. It was our own private getaway. Everything a person could need is within a short walk. Lety is wonderful. And the park is something to experience. One suggestion, as obvious as it may seem, if you don't speak Spanish you might brush up as most people in the area where the house is only know Spanish. But I was able to get around with far less than fluency. All the household amenities work and the place is clean. I would definitely stay again

The property is small but beautiful.

We spent three weeks at Casa Los Angeles. We were met on arrival by Lety who made us very welcome. As it was the early hours of the morning for us, having travelled from the UK, Lety left us to sleep but came back in the morning and took us out for breakfast, then to buy some provisions and finally on a conducted tour of the locality. The best beaches were pointed out and we were given an idea of what was available nearby. Lety was very kind and really helpful. Later in the week she took us to a car hire company where we picked up our car. Our stay at the property was perfect. All we needed was provided and the little pool was delightful. The bed was very comfortable too! Thank you Tirso for offering your pretty house for rental. Sue and Rod February 2018

The perfect house that is close to everything

My husband and I stayed at this house for 8 nights. It was exactly as described. The house is comfortable for 2 and could easily fit 4. You are within walking of everything you need. Right around the corner is a park that has outdoor vendors selling good local food every day. At night there is a stage with local entertainment. I ate lunch there almost every day. Within 6 blocks or so is Mercado 23 that I bought local fresh fruits, vegetables and meat for our meals. It is amazing. Lety is just as described by others in their reviews - she will respond very quickly to any request or question you have. We ended up with no pool towels and she brought them over within 20 minutes of my call. It is so wonderful to have someone who cares about the guests and will do everything in her power to make your stay the best. The grounds and pool are well taken care of by the gardener. He brought over coconuts one day and cracked and cut them for me. They were delicious. We walked almost everywhere. Only took a cab to and from the airport and one day to Chichen Itza. I left a few cards for Senor Cruz in the "Welcome Book." His email does not work but you can find him on facebook under "Senor Cruz." If you are going to do any tours, that is the way to go. We hired him for the day so we could do things with our timing - not a tour bus full of people with set timing. It was a day to remember. We got to Chichen Itza before the crowds and he had hired a private tour guide that met us with tickets in hand so no standing in line. Amazing! Went to a local cenote, not the one that the tour buses go to. Ate at a cooperative restaurant owned by 10 local families. Took us shopping on the way back and to his mom's for fresh eggs. Bliss with no stress and no standing around waiting for others. Well, well worth the extra money. I walked by myself many days and felt very comfortable and safe, even at night. The local people around the house are very friendly and helpful. Can't say enough about our experience. We have stayed at houses on TripAdvisor, VRBO, AIRBNB and this one was memorable. If I return to Cancun I will definitely stay here again. You can catch a bus about 2 blocks from the house to get anywhere you would want to go. It was definitely a good find!! Thanks for taking good care of the house and your guests. Gracius!

Great location, delightfool accommodations, exceptional hostess!

Our family of four had a wonderful time at Casa Los Angeles. The house is exquisite. It holds all the necessary amenities and wonderful additions, such as peaceful seating areas, use of a grill, and refreshing pool. The house is located in the center of Cancun (not Hotel Zone) close to main square, markets, stores, restaurants, main roads, and public transportation. The hostess, Lety, is very accommodating, thoughtful, helpful, and a great resource for dining or sightseeing recommendations. We look forward to going back!

Newly renovated private family home from the 70's, one of the earliest and historic homes of Cancun. I love the Yucatan Peninsula, the culture and natural beauty it has to offer all within a mile from the home
Tropical landscaped grounds with a private garden, completely private refreshing swimming pool (no neighbor can look into it) 1.5m 5Ft dept and two furnished outdoor areas which include a covered patio with antique French tile, poolside lounge area, and a front terrace ideal for outdoor dining and grilling.

What makes this property unique

The house is so well located you can live here without a car, but renting one is very convenient especially if you are planning to explore all the beautiful sites and beaches the Yucatan peninsula has to offer.
Enjoy the perfect mix of colonial design and architecture with modern furnishings and amenities. This lovely home offers a serene tropical setting perfect for a relaxing couples’ get-away or family fun.
