If you like hearing your neighbors every move, stay here

There is daylight coming under the door, paper thin walls, no cover over the electric socket, broken venetian blinds, a non working sleeper sofa, shoddy paint job, TV stations that come in and out. If you enjoy that kind of room, then stay here

Noisy neighbors

Our little suite was pretty cool - had everything you need for two people. We had the unfortunate situation of being sandwiched between two families that knew each other, so there was constant back-and-forth and LOTS of talking/laughing/yelling that can be easily heard through the walls. If you’re looking for peace and quiet, I’d suggest paying a few bucks more for a different place. Other than that, it was a good stay.

Spartan

It looks like they did just enough upgrading to make the photos look acceptable. Very little surface space to put things, no soap/shampoo ledge in shower. Paper thin walls; fortunately the neighbors quieted down before 10pm. Lots of sand in the courtyard, was hard to keep out of the room. The bed was surprisingly firm, so we slept fairly well.

Not all units are the same

Before when I stayed here I was in starfish number one, this one was nice and seemed pretty clean and put together. Stated number two this time, and it was not clean. The couch is questionable since it appears to not have been cleaned for quite some time, I didn't even sit on it. The flooring should be completed so it doesn't look like it does but not the end of the world. It was questionable with the extension cord kind of hanging on the shelf near the TV made me a little bit nervous. Other than this unit not being the best I do like staying here. I just know I won't book number two again

Property condition/response

I have mixed feelings about my stay. Given the cost per night I was expecting a facitilty that has seen a lot of use. There were however a couple of issues; there were no blinds or curtains to the window facing the parking lot with a street light shining right on the bed. I sent a message at 4pm and was very quickly responded to. I had to assume by 6pm that no one was going to come take care of it that day. At just before 9am the next morning with no warning there was a knock on the door. The repair man was very nice and fixed it in under 30 min. But, again I'm on vacation and still in bed with me partner. The last thing was the toilet seat was almost completly disconnected. Since I am a handyman I was able to fix that easily - tho I would charge $50-70 for that repair. Thank you

Beach stay

This small place is great for a quick stay, absolutely nothing fancy so don’t expect anything too crazy. Looking around everything was very half fixed. Wires hanging off the wall which then lead to losing heat, tv, food in the fridge and microwave….was not impressed. The place needs to be warmed up a bit. There seems to be no restrictions on how many people can stay in the other rooms. Very loud, two rooms were up till about 3 in the morning and I had a little one with me so that sucked! I lady finally went up and had to yell at them but more people came the next day. You can see they beach very slightly from the room. No beach access, you have to walk a bit! Crappy parking and very bare minimum. Wouldn’t stay here again.

Okay for the price!

Starfish 2 was okay for the price. When we first arrived the place was fairly clean except for the sheets when we opened the bed there was hair on them and 2 giant stains so we changed the sheets immediately. It looked like they just made the bed without washing the sheets. The other thing we noticed there was no dead bolt lock on the door and no screens on the windows which made us a feel a little unsafe. There was also a huge gap underneath the door which made it seems really noisy inside when people were outside being loud. Other than that it was a nice close walk to the beach and we asked for more towels and sheets and they were really nice and gave us a bunch more but we had to get someone who was cleaning a different room because there was nobody in the office.

Bad should not be a rental unsafe

It appears this may actually be a janitors closet as it holds a full sized water heater where a closet should be. No door knob just a key pad so really unsafe. No screens, big gap under door. Ants in the bathroom. Nowhere to hang anything up. Smelled like industrial disinfectant after that smell wore off it smelled like dogs. Hard hard bed and did not sleep at all. Located right at the level of parking lot car lights. Lights constantly shining into the windows. The photos are deceptive as they may show what appears to be an ok cheap place to stay but in reality it is not. Should not be listed as a place to stay. Truly, truly disappointed in VRBO for this listing as a have stayed at other VRBO locations with no issues.

Nice in Theory

This ‘newly remodeled’ hotel looks like it was cobbled together by a middle school shop class. Seriously - I hope the work was free. Clearly it wasn’t done by experienced contractors. The photos do not match the reality in any way. Safety: wobbly door knob that requires quite a bit of jostling to get the key to work, no interior deadbolt or chain. No porch light, or light on the landing No screens on any of the windows, so no air unless you’re comfortable with wide open window holes. Broken window blinds (they look brand new!) The bathroom has many things that just made it all awkward. The rack over the toilet obscures the top flush mechanism - I know my husband’s hand/wrist wouldn’t have fit in there to use it. Broken window latch - so it wasn’t locked Beach Access: it’s safer and just as fast to drive to the Taft area and park. The photos of the lovely deck were nothing like the peeling paint disaster of reality. So - yeah, keep shopping.

Not fancy by any means, but we weren’t expecting it to be. Good location. Only a few complaints.. the bed was hard as a rock, I ended up sleeping on the couch the last night because I’m 31 weeks pregnant and COULD NOT sleep on the bed. There’s a big gap under the door that let in a breeze and with the rainy weather all weekend, it got really cold in the unit even with the heater on. The bathroom and shower had nowhere to set anything. Had to put all of our stuff on the tiny windowsill and on the floor. Lastly, the people above us were super loud and kept us up, not the owners fault really… just a big inconvenience when you’re already not able to sleep. Overall, we probably would stay at this place again, maybe just not this unit.

Adorable

Clean cute and cozy place to stay. Simple layout but 100% efficient for a weekend stay. Mini fridge/freezer is a good size and works well. The sheets where clean and extra towels where left for us. Beautiful view before you walk into hotel. Only think bad is the upstairs neighbors can get loud above you when coming in and out, Overall had a great experience here.

The staff/location was great-the room????

Too many appliances plugged into power strip that caused it to trip every time I used the microwave….the breaker box?? Located in another unit! I ended up moving the microwave. Big gap under the door causing breeze to blow in-shoved a towel to stop. Nice easy walk to the beach and on-site staff very friendly. Would I stay in this unit again…? Probably not I would try somewhere else

Old Building but ok for the price

It’s an old building, the room was difficult to find in the way it was listed on the website. The bed was too hard for us to get a good night sleep, the space heater in the wall only worked part time so it was very cold. The door frame on the bottom of the door is broken and there’s a huge gap. there’s a few cosmetic things here and there and a few suggestions we’d like to make it easier or better for future renters! - an adjustable shower head it’s hard for a short person to use the shower properly - a shelf or shower caddy in the shower for soaps and shampoos or washcloths to hang - a coat rack on one of the walls since there’s no closet space for hanging things -new toilet paper roll holder as the one there is broken - Fix the cracks in the floorboards Overall the stay was good for the price and location and last minute getaway with my husband.

Second hand furniture, bed was hard, the floor had tons of cracks with lots of sand and dirt packed in it, but it was cheap, last minute and the view was good.

Great view

Along with a great view, it was central to so many places. The drive there was gorgeous and it was nice being so close to the beach! The one thing I would say it was so noisy and I was able to hear other vacationers like they were in the same room as I was.

Alright for the price

It’s certainly a room to lay your head, but if you’re staying more than a couple days I’d recommend some place with more amenities (other suites of the same building).
