Family Getaway
We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 day Christmas in July celebrations. The kids, dogs and family had a wonderful time. The property was spacious, a fully stocked kitchen, clean fresh linen and a fabulous farm mountain view with kangaroos and cows on the property. We all had a great time. Thank you Val & Andrew for your hospitality. We will be back again.

Unfortunate
Unfortunately I made the mistake of not reading the reviews before booking this accommodation. On the day of arrival I was charged an extra $500 fee incase of damages during the stay, was also charged $15 per guest that was visiting the house during the day time. Nowhere in the booking or original messages was this stated. Inside the house was dusty, full of cobwebs, stained sheets and mould on the air conditioner. The host also did not respect our privacy by walking around the property while we were out. The house is beautiful and could have great potential, but changes need to be made, including the mannerisms of the host

Great large home, close to all the Hunter highlights
Our group had a fabulous stay and Val and Andrew’s property the Kookaburra Hideaway. Their home is perfect for a large group, with lots of great seating areas and a well equipped kitchen. It’s a no fuss kind of place where you can feel very comfortable relaxing and taking in the kangaroos and cows next door. We saw some fabulous sunsets and also enjoyed the pool. Would recommend you bring pool towels and some basic pantry items for your stay, other than that the place has everything you need and you are nice and close to some really great wineries. Thanks again to our gracious hosts!

Perfect for our family Christmas - Six adults, four small children and two Cavoodles
We all spent a fabulous four days over Christmas at this terrific property. My only complaint would be that only one of the bedrooms is air conditioned. The weather was particularly hot during our stay - so air con throughout would have made a wonderful stay absolutely perfect!

Wonderful gem hidden in the heart of Hunter Valley
Top hideaway and even better experience: eco property, swimming pool, spas, bonfires, kangaroos, views all around, far away from neighbors, wonderful hosts and central location!

Fantastic property - recommended
Stayed for a Christmas in July weekend away with 8 adults, 2 children and a dog. The house was excellent and in a beautiful location. Large sized communal kitchen and dining area for cooking up and enjoying a big feast... with recent wine purchases of course! Nice lounge for chilling out in front of the wood burning fire. Good sized cozy bedrooms with enough bathrooms to keep everyone happy, and a beautiful view across a kangaroo filled valley. Already thinking of booking another stay in the warmer months to make use of the pool!

Fantastic base for a family break.
We stayed here with relatives visiting from the UK. The accommodation was spacious and comfortable. We were woken by our children at 6am - excitedly telling us about the kangaroos outside their window! I hope to stay there again on a future trip to the Hunter.

A special place for our HUGE family reunion - we took up both houses and spent some memorable family times in this embracing venue ... 30 people and yet we all found space and comfort in being able to be together. The meals we prepared were fantastic and we all fitted around the various tables in our own private 'restaurant'. The cows loved sharing their paddock with our high-flying kite fliers ... the kangaroos saw no issue with our long conversational constituionals along their country lanes ... and yet the bright lights of the local wineries were only a few minutes away ! We enjoyed our Aussie country experience before returning to all parts of Oz, China and Indonesia ... there is nothing like our wide open spaces to re-charge our batteries and connections !

Our family reunion brought relatives from all over Australia, China and Indonesia ... home to the bush ! We filled up both houses and spent a week hanging out together, out fossicking and exploring and staying in to enjoy the peace and tranquility of our country 'home' - so many people, so much to do, so much fun to have and yet so much space for us all the enjoy. The cows did not mind us using their paddock for kite flying. The kangaroos didn't mind our regular 'conversational' constitutionals along their country lanes. And the stars twinkled merrily down on a very merry gathering indeed.
