Dramatic sustainable house designed for relaxed holiday living by Mapleton local Philip Boorman who has many awards for his outstanding Architectural work and furniture designs.
Located on the escarpment in the centre of the 125 acre site. This privileged isolation has allowed the house design to be opened to the expansive surrounding valley and mountains by the extensive use of timber framed bi-fold doors and windows. Solar panels generate the power supply and roof water is collected in tanks for filtered reuse within the home.
The original survey plan of 1904 noted: "All the country here on shown is of an Extremely Rugged and Broken nature." This rugged landscape has protected the area from encroachment by subdivisions for over 100 years, providing flora and fauna with largely undisturbed area for species listed as endangered, such as the Coxen Fig-Parrot and the Regent Honey eater, to thrive.

Completely misrepresented, very unsafe passage to the premises. Very hot at night, no security at night. Very poor cooling supplied. Left that evening!
We stayed here as our mountain escape after our beach adventure. It was a lovely place to chill and relax. The bird life and the crickets & cicades provided an ambient background noise (a bit too much at times, but that is nature!)It was very hot on two afternoons here, and as the property is off grid, fans sufficed to keep us cool. An extra fan or two, and extension cord would have helped!Otherwise, the property is well appointed and comfortable. We enjoyed our stay very much!
We have stayed at this gorgeous property twice now, and are totally addicted! Everything one could need is provided. The wood fire is wonderful for cool nights, glass doors and windows all open up to allow the fantastic views and vistas in. Complete privacy, just nature and birdsong to wake to in the mornings. Love the sense of being surrounded by wilderness, yet a couple of minutes from trendy village fares (croissants and sourdough bread, great pizza!). Outdoor enthusiasts will love the easy access to Great Walks track at top of the driveway, however just walking up the winding driveway alone is worth the effort, especially with a torch at night to spot any local wildlife! Host Michael is a perfect gentleman, friendly, helpful and completely approachable. We felt well looked after and with nothing to do other than soak up the wonderful ambience! Will be back as often as we can. If you haven’t stayed here yet, love the magical combination of nature and complete luxury, this is defintely for you!

This was our second stay. Love the location, views, and being able to bring our dog for a relaxing family holiday.
Arrived Xmas eve with 93 year old mother & daughter. The pictures do not do the place justice it is better. Enjoyed a delightful Christmas there & was sad to leave.

Michael was the perfect host. Explained the functions of the house and its facilities.
In its heyday it would have been an architectural statement but time has rather turned it into a faded present.
The views are still to die for, the location is secluded and private and it is centrally located to explore the whole range.
However the house was not as spotless as earlier guests had commented. Stained bathroom shower tray, torn screens on the bathroom windows let the horse flies and flies in to the bedroom area. The windows needed cleaning to appreciate the wonderful views. And the presence of a gas oven/stove really detracted from its environmental credentials.
Despite these comments we were pleased we stayed at the eco lodge and were fortunate to experience the house at its best during one of the largest electric hail storms we have ever experienced!!!!
What a great property. Spent a couple of nights unwinding, eating local food and just enjoying what nature has to offer. Michael was a top host and even met us to show us the property and everything in it. Definitely recommend as there are some great spots to drive nearby (Maleny, Montville and Kenilworth) and then come back and enjoy what Mapleton Eco Lodge has to offer. The photos don’t do it justice!!
This is the most beautiful place I have stayed in South East Queensland. So quiet, so peaceful, such an escape from city life. This was my 3rd visit and I've booked my fourth. Perfection.
Great location, no noise other than the sound of birds. Michael great host, house had everything we needed. Plenty of space for our dog to run - she didn't want to chase another ball by the end of our stay!
Can't wait to get back again.
Brilliant property buried in the hills near Montville Malney. The house is so relaxing and the surrounds beautiful. Sitting around the fire with a red what more could you want. The house is fully equipped with everything you need. We will definitely be back.
The property provided everything we needed in terms of facilities and location. It is so very peaceful. Great fireplace and deck. And dogs welcome ! Would highly recommend . Star gazing was incredible too!
