Beautiful, peaceful getaway
Lovely little property with the most amazing backdrop of the rainforest. Feels lovely and secluded, even though you are only 20 minutes from Forster. It was a very comfortable stay for us with the added bonus of being able to enjoy it with our 12-month-old Bordoodle puppy. Thank you, Ann!

Gary the cicada outnumbered by the bats
A short but memorable stay at Smiths lake, we planned to catch up with family at another house in Smiths Lake, but the bats won. We had to have our Family catch up here as our family from Canada wanted to see the bat colony. The highlight was Gary the cicada that chose our niece to hang out with. The house really was a perfect location and comfortable place to stay, for those who love to be immersed in nature. Grace our dog also enjoyed her stay.

Very nice place for a weekend
Comfortable, clean and well positioned house, very close to the lake. Beautiful place for a long walk along the lake's shore. The bat colonies in the reserve at the back of the house were a nice surprise, although a bit noisy.

Pleasant location and house was fine. A few minor hassles : only on street parking, key lock difficult, pillows hard and lumpy.

Relaxing Stay
A very relaxing weekend in a comfortable home, which contained all you need for a home away from home stay. A great place to stay with our dog. Handy location to the lake, unfortunately it lacked the winter sun which was obstructed by trees.

Holiday
We've spent 16 days in this holiday home, we enjoyed our stay, the home is spacious enough for a family, and opened. The gardens are beautiful too. There are bats close to the backyard, but we also have them close to our home, so it wasn't an issue for us. It's walking distance to the lake, few minutes drive to beaches, National Parks and plenty of shopping opportunity in Forster, just about 20 mins easy drive.

Calm and relaxing
Property was very self sufficient in a quiet and relaxing for part of Smiths Lake. The property backs onto the rain forest and a colony of bats however the price and location are worth the stay.

Lovely clean place!
Very happy with it. Very clean. Very well stocked kitchen. Lovely gas heater. Netting on all doors and windows to keep insects out but let the breeze in. Would definitely come back. The only inconvenience is no Wifi. I didn't mind at all, it's probably a plus, but the kids were a little disgruntled.

Good propoerty for 4 people to live comfortably. Pet friendly accomodation. Amenities in the bathroom could have been better, no hair dryer and shampoo , shower gel etc , instead of just soap. Clean and tidy , otherwise no issues.

A comfortable and relaxing stay
We had a comfortable stay for our family of 4. We enjoyed the quietness of the neighbourhood and easy access to the lake down the road. Tropical landscape in the backyard was nice and deck area was relaxing. The house was pretty well kept though the towels and linen were a bit worn and I understand it was a dog- friendly house but could smell faint doggy smell (or maybe the local bats) especially after the rain. Glad we could use the fans as it was really humid at this time of year.

A nice time away despite a few hiccups.
The property was not dog friendly as advertised due to the wires in the decking being loose enabling any smaller dog to fall through with a big drop below. The enormous bat colony made it even more likely that a dog would want to escape- both these factors were not made clear to us. Consequently we had to find urgent kennelling for our pet at added expense. Thankfully we found the most beautiful woman Jenny who has “in house” accommodation in Wootton. The house also had internal stairs with no bannister which would have been tricky for some- again not made clear and possibly not within building standards. When it rained the gutters overflowed straight back into the house. No fan in the second room made for some uncomfortable nights along with the unique smell of the bats. We had a great time away despite these challenges- the surrounding areas boasted great beaches and some lovely cafes. The house was easily accessed, was clean and well appointed with great laundry facilities and a second toilet.

Wonderful and Relaxing
My Mum and I had a fantastic Two weeks over the Christmas 2019 & New Year period 2020, here at Smiths Lake Retreat. It had every thing we needed and more. It was very comfortable and I enjoyed sitting out on the deck, with the windows open for that cool breeze. We both enjoyed having the Wildlife and loved watching the Flying Foxes. Thank you very much to Ann and Craig for letting us stay at your lovely home.

My Husband and I enjoy spending time in our holiday cottage, we live in Newcastle NSW but love spending time in the beautiful Smiths Lake area.
We are happy to make it available to other people to enjoy for weekend or longer.

Why they chose this property

We purchased this property due to its close location to Smiths Lake & also to some spectacular pristine beaches.

What makes this property unique

Very private, with large back deck to enjoy the rain-forest outlook. Walking distance to the lake, great for dogs.
