Imagine waking up to the sounds of birds and the gentle flow of water from the nearby river.

You'll have exclusive use of 250 acres of total solitude which includes a country homestead with modern facilities, breathtaking mountain and river views and 2km of your very own river frontage.

Things to Do at Bemurrah

You can just take time to unwind, put your feet up and enjoy the views. Maybe relax by the majestic Macleay River with a good book

Have a swim in the crystal clear waters, try your hand at fishing or go exploring the river in your canoe.
At night enjoy the firepit under the stars with your favourite wine.

If you want some gentle exercise you could go bush-walking and try to spot some native wildlife including wallabies or our abundant bird life.

Bemurrah is still part of a working cattle station so in spring you will enjoy seeing new baby calves running around playing with their Mums.

Go for a drive to one of the fabulous national parks that surround us or grab your board and head to the coast.

Fishing, canoeing, swimming, bush-walking, bird watching or just sit and admire the views. It's your choice. You will need to bring your fishing and canoeing gear.

Attractions And History

The Macleay Valley Coast's commercial origins in timber-getting and dairy farming can still be seen in it's historic landscape. Abandoned farm houses and sheds tell stories of the pioneering past. A visit to the national trust village of Bellbrook is just like taking a step back in time. Bellbrook was named in 1882 by Caroline McMaugh after the local bellbirds and the adjacent river. It is a significant example of a turn-of-the-century hamlet.

Travel the 'Slim Dusty Way' from the Pacific Highway at Kempsey to explore the childhood tramping ground of Slim Dusty around Bellbrook, Nulla Nulla and the Upper Macleay Hinterland.

Or you could head to the coast and visit Trial Bay Gaol, in the Arakoon State Recreation Area. Don’t miss the view of Trial Bay from the guard turret at the western end of the complex.

Mountains, rivers, historic villages and a short drive to the coast. What more could you want?

Loved it!
We loved the property so much - the scenery is beautiful and the house is so clean and cosy. Perfect for a getaway for 2 families. Dogs loved the fenced yard and we had a fire every night. Carolyn and Dave were lovely and very responsive. Will be back.

Beautiful spot.
This house is in a beautiful location. The views are wonderful and the verandas very inviting. It was a little frustrating for us because we couldn’t access the river due to recent rains flooding the area between the house and the river and very long grass, but the house itself was very cosy and dry. The house is comfortable but a few things could be better. For example, there were no bowls suitable for cereal or soup/pasta and the mugs need replacing. There were no working lighters or matches and limited wood was provided, although we had enough to have a fire in the fire pit on 2 of our nights which was lovely. We had to change a few lightbulbs which did not work. There is no wifi and limited cellphone service. Some information about local walks and picnic areas would have been useful. (Be aware that the description of the house has in very tiny letters that linen is not provided. We did not notice that and so did not come prepared with sheets and towels. Make sure you check this when you book). On the whole I would recommend this property for a quiet and relaxing retreat. Make sure you go outside at night and turn out the house lights and experience the spectacular night sky!

Amazing
We stayed at the homestead for three nights with our family. It was perfect! It had everything we needed. It was very clean and beautifully styled. The view was spectacular and we loved walking around the property and relaxing on the deck. Perfect getaway for adults and kids. Carolyn was so helpful and easy to communicate again. We would love to come back again.

Magic Spot on the River
What a wonderful peaceful spot for a well needed rest . We thoroughly enjoyed our time at Bemurrah Homestead with everything we needed at our fingertips. Beds were very comfy & we loved the large covered deck overlooking the river. My favorite time was to sit by the river at dusk and watch the platypus. Perfect spot for Kayaking, swimming and fishing. This was our second stay and we will definitely visit again ! Great for family gatherings.

Bemurrah is a working cattle property purchased 15 years ago. We recognized the fantastic potential of the house for people to come together, relax and take in one of the most fantastic country experience Australia has to offer

Why they chose this property

This property is unique in it's timeless history and heritage. Set on the banks on the Macleay river where the mountains touch the sky and fall into the pristine pictures valleys this beautiful part of the world has to offer.

What makes this property unique

Fantastic size to accommodate large families or even multiple families that want to come together and have a holiday. Over 250 acres of farm land and over 800 meters of river to play and explore, not even the kids will get bored of this place. Roughly half way between Sydney and Brisbane, Bemurrah is a great meeting place and for memories to be made.
