PLEASE NOTE: If your desired dates are reserved, please inquire about our four other vacation homes and you can view them in our "in-developement" website, which is luxury getaways Portland dot com. Please note that the website is in development and the prices are not correct, just the photos and the description.

Please inquiry about the 30-night minimum. I can explain.

1. Beautiful BRAND NEW, fully-renovated, large and most luxurious vacation home, with 2800 square feet, 4-5 bedrooms with 3 KING beds, 2 DOUBLE beds, and a private den with a huge QUEEN sleeper sofa. 3.5 baths, extremely luxurious ensuite master bedroom. A few blocks from this house and only 9 minutes to DT Portland! Listing ID 1660664.

2. If you are looking for a very home that sleeps up to 28, please contact me about our newest home that we are presently renovating. Ready for spring 2020 reservations, this beautiful 7 Bedroom, 5 Bath property offers a very private setting, yet is so close to one of Portland's prettiest beaches. Only 15 minutes to downtown Portland! Perfect for large family reunions, corporate retreats, bachelor and bachelorette groups, rehearsal dinners and other events.

3. We also own property #1112052 in Willard Beach, with 2125 square feet and 4 BRs, 2.5 BAs. This home features a huge rooftop deck with ocean views and a new therapeutic massage hot tub.

4. Also in Willard Beach: #4019326, with 3 bedrooms, fantastic ocean views from many windows and from the patio, 1600 square feet, 1.5+ baths. Sleeps up to 8 people.

This beautiful, newly renovated bungalow in the WIllard Beach neighborhood is only 6-7 minutes and a $5-$8 Uber ride into downtown Portland. Only 3.5 blocks to beautiful Willard Beach and 4 blocks to Scratch Baking Co.

Portland was named by Thrilist as "The #1 City in the country to spend the weekend" and "The 2018 Restaurant City of the year in US" by Bon Appetit, plus years ago, "The Foodiest Small City in the Country" (also by Bon Appetit). Also rated the US' best drinking city, with a burgeoning Microbrewery Scene. South Portland and Portland were recently named in the list of top dessert cities in the US!

The house has been fully renovated to the studs (with a new second floor added)! Completed in August 2016 by a regionally famous designer, the renovation has been featured on numerous websites, including "Cottage Living", "Farmhouse Tours", "Remodelaholic" and "Hooked on Houses"! It has 4-5 Bedrooms plus a sleeping loft and 2 full Bathrooms. It's cozy for a small group but can sleep up to 14 guests very comfortably in bedrooms with large beds plus a very comfortable sofa bed in a private den with a door. A high-quality Serta Sleeper sofa bed is located in a small private room with a flatscreen TV (and also with a door) on the first floor and is not in an open public area. This home is perfect for multigenerational family or gatherings, with the open floor plan and multiple bedrooms, but it's cozy enough for smaller groups.

No expense was sparred in furnishing and outfitting this beautiful new vacation home. The home is perfect for couples on vacation together, with two bedrooms and a full bath on the first floor and two large bedrooms, a sleeping loft for 2 and a full spa bathroom on the second floor.

The house also has been set up to accommodate large families very comfortably. We recently installed two on-demand hot water heaters so you never run out of hot water and there is never a need to pace showers or your watch your hot water usage. The kitchen is appointed with large dishware sets, glassware and all utensils, in addition to numerous pots and pans and tons of small appliances. We also provide a large array of fun and colorful plates and cups for kids and also children's scaled silverware to match the adult sets. In addition, we have an abundance of children's furniture in the home and many special toys, such as a wooden kitchen with pots and pans, a large wooden grocery store (stocked with groceries, a scanner, conveyer belt, a register), a kid's Weber grill with accessories, a table and 2 chairs, set for a pretend dinner, a wooden trainset on a "train city" rug, a private little tea room, scaled just for little ones, with a table and two chairs set for tea service, outdoor kids' furniture, sand buckets and shovels and so much more.

The all-new mattresses are fantastic; the bed linens are all luxurious 100% Egyptian Cotton Percale; and we provide plenty of huge and thick and fluffy bath sheets for everyone. Please feel free to ask for more details and photos of the supplies and the well-stocked kitchen!

The house has been decorated and furnished in a beautiful combination of a Pottery Barn and Urban Farmhouse style, with an abundance of very comfy furniture, fantastic all-new high-end mattresses and unique antiques, primitives and architectural artifacts.

3.5 blocks to Willard Beach, 4 blocks to Scratch Baking Co. , 4 blocks to Scratch's new Toast Bar, and a 6-7 minute car ride ($5-8 Uber) into downtown Portland.

Wonderful, Light Filled, Family Home

This home was perfect for hosting our family Thanksgiving dinner. The kitchen had every item I needed and more. There is a small room in the front that is a great "away" space for family members who need some quiet time. My 14 month old grandson and his parents enjoyed the little play area behind the couch that was equipped with a toy kitchen. The house was filled with light from three sides which made it the perfect late fall get away. Marilys kept in contact about our arrival plans and was accommodating and flexible. I highly recommend this listing.

Stylish and well appointed house in great location.

Recent stay with husband and 10 month old baby. House was extremely well equipped and very clean. Kitchen had everything that we could have asked for. Marilys provided us with a pack and play and two high chairs (one we took to a restaurant and one for the house) which was incredibly helpful. House was very comfortable - exactly as pictured - probably has everything you could possibly need in a rental house. Very clean and very tasteful. Marilys provided a very very extensive guide for the area which was very helpful. She also had a freshly baked cake on arrival and was readily available for assistance. We were able to walk to the beach as well as the bakery in town every morning. Portland is an easy 10 to 15 minute drive. Cape Elizabeth is also a quick 10 minute drive to the lighthouse and beaches. If we travel to the area again we would definitely stay at one of Marilys properties. Thank you!

Charming house, perfect location

This was the perfect house for my family and I. When we arrived the house was clean and there was a freshly baked cake waiting for us! The location of the house was perfect for a walk to the beach or to town to the bakery and ice cream shop. The beds were very comfortable, the kitchen well appointed and plenty of dining room sitting for a big group. The little front sunroom was also a great place to sit and read a book and relax. Marilys was a wonder host and ensured we had everything we had for our stay. She also put together an amazing guide for the area which was super helpful since we were not from the area. I would definitely recommend this to friends and would stay again if I were to come back.

Cozy, comfortable house perfect for groups!

This house is amazing! We stayed here for an annual mother daughter weekend with eight of us and spatially it was perfect. Not only is the house BEAUTIFULLY decorated, but everything is so comfortable. The living area is perfectly set up to accommodate a group of people whether you are playing games or just sitting around talking. Every one of the many beds were fitted with the most amazing bedding and the beds themselves were unbelievably comfortable. The kitchen was perfectly stocked with just about any utensil/kitchen tool that one could need, and with an ample amount of dishware/dinnerware. The outside living space with comfy outdoor couches/chairs and a fire pit table is what drew us to it in the first place, and it did not disappoint! The location is in walking distance from Willard Square and a five minute drive from all of the convenient stores located in the Mill Creek shopping plaza of South Portland. We experienced an issue with a broken doorknob that the owner came and fixed almost right away. I cannot say enough good things about this place, and look forward to going back soon!

Amazing home in South Portland

Marilys has a beautiful home in South Portland and was a great host. We came up for a friends b day and it had more than enough room to accommodate our group. It was perfect being 6 minutes from the Old Port and also having some great restaurants just minutes away in South Portland. I would definitely recomend and will be looking up Marilys when I return back to the Portland area.

Business Event Housing - Well taken care of!

We used this home to house employees for a week-long corporate work event in Portland and they can't give enough positive feedback about their time there! It was spacious and clean and had a lovely Maine coast/homey feel to it. The linens and kitchen were very well stocked so the residents felt very well taken care of all week. The 8 women who stayed here loved the outdoor space around the fire pit for quiet evening gatherings as well. Thank you so much for making this experience so easy for us!

PERFECT in every sense of the word

The house is absolutely beautiful! The owner thought of EVERYTHING!! The kitchen is the best stocked of any rental I have ever stayed in. When we arrived we were greeted with a warm out of the oven bundt cake and the ingredients for smores' to use on the fire pit in the lovely back yard. There are no close by neighbors, so it made it very comfortable to enjoy the backyard along with the awesome patio set. The towels are FLUFFY and BRIGHT white. The owner had provided shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in case you forgot your own. She also had dishwashing tabs, plenty of toilet paper, and laundry supplies. The home is an EASY commute to our office in Old Port. There was not a long list of "to-do's" which made checkout a BREEZE!! I highly recommend this property and owner to anyone visiting the area.

Beautiful home in a convenient location

Marilys was a wonderful host and provided our group with an abundance of information and recommendations. The home is quick drove to downtown Portland (~$11 Uber ride). We took advantage of the house our second night and made use of the beautiful kitchen which was big enough for multiple people to work in at the same time. The house comfortably slept our group of eight and was a great place to spend time with friends and relax. I highly recommend this home and Marilys is a very accommodating host.

This property exceeded expectations !

We had a most enjoyable time staying at this property and would highly recommend. The owner goes out of her way to make you feel welcome and quickly responds to anything that is needed during the stay. We had a small toddler and he really enjoyed all the room and loved running around in the house. Most things have been updated and the beds are a highlight providing a very restful nights sleep. Very convenient to get into downtown Portland, while the local neighborhood also has plenty to see and do. We also enjoyed the outside fire pit a couple of nights as a way to end the day.

Great house and Great location

The property was fantastic. The location is great, you are in the middle of everything. Great restaurants, the beach is a 5 minute walk, and you are a short ride across the bridge to Old Town Portland! The house itself is amazing. These are the most comfortable beds I have ever had in any hotel/house rental. All the amenities were great and the design of the house was perfect for our group! We used the fire pit out back every night! It was a great experience and Marilys was extremely helpful with suggestions of things to do in Portland. Thanks again!

Great home with lots of sleeping arrangements

We had 12 of us stay here for our annual golf trip, we met the owner at the property and she was very helpful and provided us tons of recommendations. The place comfortably slept all of us and has a large living area to hang out in, it also has a nice patio on the back with tons of seating to be outdoors.

Best summer vacation!

My family and I stayed here recently and we were so happy we chose this house and location. It is such a beautiful house and the outside area is gorgeous. Marilys was friendly and accommodating and had the house prepared to perfection. It was not only super clean (especially appreciated with a crawling baby and a toddler) but she also had great baby equipment and really adorable toys, including a kitchen, little wicker chairs, another small table and chairs etc. to keep the little ones busy. The kids especially loved their little tiny closet rooms - one set up with a table and chairs and tea set and the other with a train set. She has thought of everything and even had beach toys, shovels, buckets, and kids beach chairs and a beach cart on wheels! The beds were absolutely heavenly, and even the sleeper sofa in the first floor den was cozy and comfortable. We had plenty of hot water for everyone and never ran out. The neighborhood was charming and we loved the food shops, especially Scratch Bakery and the Cookie Jar. We loved Terra Cotta Pasta (SO good!). Highly, highly recommend this house and neighborhood!

Gorgeous vacation home in a great location

We rented this house for our annual girlfriends vacation and we all had the best time. We all loved it and agreed it was the best rental home any of us had ever stayed at. The beds were the best beds I have ever slept in and most of the girls agreed. We used every bed in the house, including the sofa bed, and everyone said they slept really well. The location was perfect, as it was very close to downtown Portland but also so close to the beach and some great neighborhood restaurants that we could walk to. All in all, a wonderful stay!

First impression great but beware a nasty sting in the tail

Our deposit was fraudulently taken by this Owner and she informed me that she was also claiming on our insurance for outdoor furniture that was not damaged during our stay. It was wet when we arrived, one chair was also badly burnt, due to unsettled weather we were only sat on it 3 times as it was constantly wet. No covers were provided to prevent this. I have had no response VRBO or from the owner. We travelled from the UK for our sons wedding, with his 3 grandparents aged 80+ My husband and I both 50+, Our daughter, son in law and 2 babies and our two sons, 23 and 30. We are a normal family group. I informed the owner of the full age range, yet when we arrived we spent an hour moving ornaments, lamps and even rusty gardening tools to protect them from damage and to avoid injury for an normal two year old . 84 blind father almost fell down the cellar stairs as door didn't have lock on it. Very serious hazard to elderly and Two year old grandson as a fall could result in serious injury or death. While property is well presented, owner failed to consider the safety of guests even though she knew full details in advance The Loft area where our sons stayed was not a separate loft, but two beds jammed under the eves on the landing at top of the stairs. not suitable for fully grown men for 13 nights. No storage for clothes or indeed any room to move beds to avoid sloping ceiling during the night. Before booking I discussed our needs and owner assured me house could accommodate us comfortably. Not true at all, we have been misled. Encouraged me to take out additional insurance due to the size of party. Cynical ploy so she can claim to replace items even if already damaged when we arrived, as with garden furniture Spent very little time in house we were out visiting our Daughter-laws family or at the wedding. The two grandmothers cooked and we cleaned daily as ants came in. 11 people staying 13 nights so we used all towels in the house as manual advised . We cleared up, put rubbish out, did dishes and left house in good order We accidentally took the key but my son drove it straight back. They had no other key available as spare key hidden outside had gone missing. We didn't know about a key outside-very poor security as our passports and money inside. When son returned key they sat on the garden chairs and she said all was OK. Couldn't get cleaners so doing it with husband. No sign of problems until after 1 month took deposit

Beautiful home, extremely well amenitized

This is a stunning home, perfectly decorated for Maine and very well maintained. The owners are fabulous, caring and extremely responsive. It was spotlessly clean. We loved cooking and serving meals inside and outside. It's well located with some restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance. We didn't rent a car, instead used Uber which worked well for us in So Portland. I gave it 4 stars because there are only 2 shared bathrooms. This was a challenge sometimes with 9 adults. I would not use either of the additional sleeping areas (loft or sleeping porch) for adults. They would be fine for children.

Best House Rental Ever

My extended family and I stayed at this beautiful house recently and we all really enjoyed it. There were nine of us in total and it was perfect for us in every way. The house is located in a somewhat private setting inside of a quiet beach neighborhood, but it's very close to downtown Portland (5-10 minute drive). It was a few blocks from the beach and there were several great little restaurants in the neighborhood that we were able to walk too. There was plenty of room for us to spread out and quite a lot of really comfortable beds and furniture and several (4-5) t.v.s. The house is very bright, very clean and also very well-equipped. It has about everything you can think of - tons of kitchen things, large thick towels, lots of different shampoos, soaps, coffee, tea, spices, etc. The peaceful and private back patio was a major highlight of our stay. The furniture on the patio was abundant and very comfortable for relaxing, and the fire pit was a great feature on cool nights. The house and everything in it is basically brand new and pretty high-end/expensive looking but very comfortable and not so fancy that you feel uncomfortable. Finally, working with Marilys was a pleasant and positive experience. She was always quick to respond to our questions before and during our stay and truly wanted us to enjoy the home (and her guide book was HUGE and gave us great tips on where to eat). We would highly recommend this home and plan to hope this is an annual summer destination.

Fantastic house close to beach & downtown Portland!

A large group of guys stayed at this house late last fall for a guys trip & we actually returned to Portland & stayed at Marilyn's new property a few weeks ago. Both properties were great & she is flexible & great to work with. I decided it was time to leave some reviews, as both houses really deserve praise! This house was booked when we came back this summer but we would not hesitate to rent either house from her in the future & it would be tough to choose. This house suited our group well. It was a huge group last fall- 14 of us for 2 days & another 2 that joined us for 1 night- & we all fit comfortably. There are lots of great beds with really comfortable mattresses & even a comfortable sleeper sofa (it had some thick padding on it). It was in a little separate den on the first floor. We loved the back patio & sat around the fire pit one night when we barbecued at the house. She has everything that you can think of at this house (both houses actually). The kitchens have everything you could possibly think of to cook for large groups. Lots of dishes, glasses, silverware, pots & pans & a lot of extras. She also sets her houses up with unlimited hot water heaters, which is great for large groups. We never ran out of hot water (at either house). This house is so close to downtown Portland & we Uber'd in & out for around $7 each way, probably cheaper than parking downtown. It's about 4 blocks to the beach & about the same to Scratch Bakery-an awesome place with the best coffee, bagels, muffins & fantastic sandwiches. We hope to come back every year & would be happy to stay at either house again.

Cannot recommend enough!

Marilys' house was absolutely beautiful. The pictures looked very nice, but it was even better in person! The house was spotless, the decor was amazing and the house was fully stocked with everything we could ever need. We were there for a bachelorette party and everyone (13 of us) slept comfortably, and at no point did we feel crowded or overwhelmed. The linens and the beds in general were OMG so comfortable. Everyone wanted to stay another night just to get one last "good night sleep" :) Marilys is very responsive and so helpful. She has an awesome guide to Portland that was nice to have on hand. I am so happy I found her in our search and would recommend her home(s) to anyone looking to stay in Portland! I know I will be calling her again when I go back !

About the host

Host profile image
After 15 years in a corporate career, I wanted to turn what I love most into a career. I have always been passionate about houses, interior decorating, hosting dinner parties and hosting friends and family overnight in my home. Owning vacation rental properties seemed like the perfect way to combine my passions into a career and I absolutely love the career I have created for myself!

My husband and I moved to Maine purely for lifestyle, knowing that I wanted to pursue owning and managing vacation rental homes as a career, and we began by purchasing two homes with ocean views in 2005. We purchased our third vacation rental home in 2015, this home in 2016, and our fifth vacation renal home, #1112052, in 2017, #1660664 in 2019; and we are about to introduce our largest vacation rental in mid-April, 2019. We love our vacation homes and love hosting guests and sharing what we know about our wonderful city and fantastic state of Maine.

Why they chose this property

I have been a longtime fan of a locally famous home designer and had dreamed of one day buying one of her homes. When this home was made available for sale, I knew it would be the ideal vacation rental home for several reasons. The neighborhood is amazing; the beach is gorgeous and the and the walkability to several really good restaurants, bakeries and gourmet food shops, in addition to Willard Beach down the street, made the location perfect. It's also so close to downtown Portland but in a much more peaceful location. We had just one year prior purchased another vacation rental home in the neighborhood (#4019326) and it had been very popular, so we knew this home would be the perfect home for our guests who wanted to be in the neighborhood but needed more space, more bedrooms, more bathrooms and more beds.

We have since purchased a third vacation home in the neighborhood that was redone by the same designer who renovated this home. That property (#1112052) is our largest home and it has four bedrooms, 2.5 baths and ocean views--it's a few blocks from this house in the same neighborhood and is only 150 yards from the beach. It's located right in between our other two Willard Beach vacation homes. We purchased the property as our near-future family downsize and it's fantastic! We can't wait to move in but are thrilled to be offering it to our guests until then.

What makes this property unique

There are many unique benefits of this home that make it an ideal vacation home, whether you are a small group, or a large multi-generational family.

The home feels cozy and open at the same time and I frequently host groups as small as two couples and as large as 16! Everyone seems to love it. The interior of the home and the tall ceilings and open floor plan and layout make it feel roomy, but there are different conversations areas that are also cozy, whether you have a small family/small group of friends or a large group.

It is warm and cozy for small groups and it also provides a great set up for large groups for several reasons. One is that the floor plan is open and spacious on the first floor, with 3 separate but conneced living spaces. There is room for a lot of comfy/oversized furniture for large groups to gather and we also have also separate, smaller living spaces to cozy up with a good book or for a more private conversation with one or two others.

The layout of the bedrooms and bathrooms also makes it ideal for couples or multigenerational families sharing the home.

There are two bedrooms separated by a full bathroom with a tub/shower on the first floor and then another two bedrooms with a very large spa bathroom on the second floor that features a deep soaking tub and a large shower.

Each floor has a bedroom with a king-sized bed and each floor also has a bedroom with a queen bed. There is a large "family" bedroom on the second floor, which is also the perfect "slumber party" bedroom, with a queen bed, a double bed and a single bed (upon request). Adjacent to that room is an open loft space with two twin beds.

On the first floor, we have a small den, which features a very comfortable standard/double size Serta sleeper sofa. I have a memory foam pad for it and it is very comfortable. That room has a tv and a coffee table that can be removed and it's very small and cozy. It is off of the living room and has the privacy of a door.
