Nice quiet location , ideally placed to explore the Island , lovely & clean and spacious with comfy beds , well appointed kitchen & facilities, only drawback was no WiFi
Good central location with a very definite farmhouse atmosphere. Beds comfortable. TV great. Fridge excellent. Good to have dishwasher. Ensuite shower a bit slippery, needs mat. Need to watch for ants. Being a farmhouse cleanliness is not as easy to manage. Overall very happy with our stay.
We loved the property, reminded my brother and I of our farm growing up in South Africa. The house is really well equipped and well located. Would definitely return there and recommend to others to stay.Koalas in the trees along the drive were fabulous as was the birdie. Thank you again.

Had a great time. Great place to stay
It was quiet which was great as we are from a rural area. The home was very clean. Also quite large so we were able to find a quiet spot in the house to Read and relax
Lovely quiet rural setting. Caretaker showed us around the property and pointed out a resident koala.
It was a great home base for exploring the island.
Great house and space. Good views and environment, especially for nature lovers. Lots of extras and heaps of room. Loved the firepit. Beds super comfy. Great kitchen and living areas. Great vibe, loved it.
Fabulous old farmhouse with rustic charm.
The owners couldn't of been more helpful and obliging.
Magnificent setting and scenery. Great location for seeing all the sights.
A perfect little hideaway.
This house is very well sized for larger groups, with ample space and great amenities. The farm is beautiful, there are lots of native flowers along the roadside leading to the house. The views are also excellent.
The location is almost central to the island, and for the purposes of our visit, was located very close to our work. We hope to be able to stay again
Fantastic quiet place to come back to after a busy day in KI.
Amazing hosts, communication was excellent and the house had lots of comforts provided, including a pod machine.
Loved sitting outdoors in the morning, spotting the superb fairy wrens as I drank my coffee.
Can’t wait to come back again and bring friends!
One of the best places we've stayed in when it comes to peace and quiet. There's lots of room inside, as well as outside in the property grounds to go for big walks. It was super comfortable; all amenities we needed were provided, and it was a pleasure dealing with the owner who was always quick to respond. Location is great - not far from Kingscote and the airport. It truly felt like home for us the 2 weeks we stayed. We were very well-rested after our stay and didn't want to leave - we'll DEFINITELY be returning again and again! Thanks again Emma - terrific place :-)
Nice and quiet. Was not bothered by anyone. Very cosy and relaxing. Would recomend to anyone, kids or just oldies very nice. Cant think of a thing i would change . Cheers
The house was as the title says, a Rural Retreat. The house has large rooms, with comfortable furniture, everything you could possibly want in the kitchen cupboards, and accommodating hosts. The birds were varied and everywhere, as the mallee gums are flowering now. The position is great for day trips in every direction, and wood burning heater was lovely to sit by at night.

Owner is there from 7am to dark, Saturday they had a fundraiser so there were other people there
Felt uncomfortable, music playing early on Saturday and a lot of people at the property which made leaving and coming back awkward and hard to get in the drive way
Location is lovely and very quiet, reasonable price for the size.
Emma's communication and check in process was excellent for this farm stay. It is very private and the location very central to many island activities. Great for bigger groups with young families. The property is quite old and a bit run down (as older farmhouses tend to be). It has everything you may want for a stay but it seems as if it the living areas and kitchen have been just left as if the family who owned the house are on their way back-judging by bits and pieces around and in drawers. Cleanliness therefore left a bit to be desired, but if you are looking for a very reasonably priced plus spacious house with everything you need on hand to be self-contained, in a private area and heaps of birdlife in abundance, you will enjoy this place.
We absolutely loved the Kangaroo Island Rural retreat! It was technically off the beaten path but it was SO close and central to so many amazing places and we felt like we were in our own little universe! We saw an echidna as we were driving out one day, and I followed a black swan that was hanging around the yard around the house one evening! It was just so cool to feel entrenched with the wildlife! The farm was clean and tidy and well appointed and so roomy! We had four small children with us and they loved all of the exploring they could do etc! Emma was a great host and this spot allowed us such an authentic kangaroo island experience!
Comfortable, great facilities, good kitchen and pantry. Would be cold in winter. Good to complete window blinds to improve insulation. Great supply of firewood. Central location.
Although comfortable, Time to review mattress age and replacement. Single bed sheet wouldn’t tuck in properly Due to small size. Quite suitable for our two nights stay. A clothes drier and vacuum would be good, bath renewal or refurbishment and wall clean in ensuite.
