Wonga Beach House is one of Tathra's original homes renovated to take advantage of an idealic location on the headland above the award winning Tathra Beach. The house is located in a natural bush setting with stunning views from the deck and property.
Wonga is private and secluded and is an ideal place to relax with large open plan living areas and polished timber floors opening onto a huge deck where you can enjoy the abundant bird life...
Sleep to the sound of the waves! Upstairs are two large and airy queen sized bedrooms and sleep area with two single beds with Trundles. There is also a King Delta 11 lounge downstairs which converts to either a queen sized bed or two singles, a modern kitchen, two bathrooms, ample living area.

Tathra Locality

Wonga is an ideal place to enjoy your holiday located as it is only a short stroll to the beautiful patrolled Tathra beach for surfing, snorkelling or relaxing.
Tathra is surrounded by magnificent Mimosa and Bournda National Parks and Reserves with walking tracks, beautiful beaches, pristine estuaries and rivers waiting to be explored. Enjoy kayaking, fishing, and boating at Mogareeka on the Bega River
Local shops and restuarants are all within walking distance as is the historic Tathra wharf. Enjoy the many galleries within close proximity.Tanja, just north of Tathra is renowned for its galleries and studios. Tathra oysters have won many awards and are only available at Tathra while many culinary delights are available locally.

Fantastic Spot

What a wonderful location! There couldn't be many locations in Tathra from which one can easily walk to both the wharf/hotel/general store and to the main beach strip, but one can from here! Absolutely stay here if you can. Following for information and don't detract from the enjoyment of the property. (Very) minor cons: No Wi-fi, but mobile reception is fine so this isn't a problem. Back lounge is a little musty - this room is pretty much only for watching TV and we basically didn't use it. Layout is odd, and the single beds are on the first-floor landing, not quite a room - still fine for the kids. A little hard to find the first time; the lower entrance will have the uninitiated wondering just why they are apparently driving down a footpath..

A lovely house in gorgeous setting

The house had an excellent feel and we loved being so close to the beach, and the wildlife. Very well equipped, and lovely to sit out and eat. The sleeping area between the bedrooms (4 single beds) was very open to all and had no blinds, the access to bathroom went through this space.

Relaxing getaway close to the beach and nature

We had a lovely relaxing stay at Wonga House. We enjoyed the location being so close to the beach and hearing the waves at night when sleeping. Hearing and seeing all the bird life and enjoying a drink out on the verandah. The house was very spacious for the 2 of us and had everything that we needed.

Idyllic setting close to the beach

Very nice and quiet location. Close to the beach and all local shops and pub. Very well kitted out kitchen with lots of everything. As listed, there is no wifi, but didn’t really matter to us.

Low Key Beach Holiday….Exactly what was required

We loved our 4 night stay at Wonga. I especially loved that there is no WiFi, as our kids were more than happy to play board games rather than iPads. Listening to the ocean whilst enjoying an afternoon drink on the deck is heaven. Short walk down to the beach, definitely take the official beach path. Quick 5 min walk to the Wharf & Pub. Wonga Beachhouse is a great base to explore the Sapphire Coast.

A perfect stay

Wonga beach house exceeded our expectations. So spacious, yet homely. Gorgeous outlook from upstairs and down. Even though it rained most the time - we thoroughly enjoyed sitting on the balcony & listening to the waves, taking walks on the beach, whale watching and dinner at the Tathra Hotel - not to mention Wapengo waffles! The house had a great kitchen that had everything we needed to cook at home too. Thank you for a wonderful stay - we will be back! Mary and family x

Lovely house, great location, we will definitely return

The house is big enough for a family of four/five, it is located in a very quiet neighbourhood, this was a big plus for our family. You can walk to the Tathra Hotel as well as to the small grocery store and the bottle shop, very convenient. Communication with the owner was very good, any question or requests were answered promptly. There is no wifi at the house, it didn't bother us, but it might be important to other families. I can recommend Wonga Beach House wholeheartedly, we will return for sure.

Fabulous Uni Reunion

What a delight. Great presentation and everything we needed was available. The short walk to cafes, shops and the pub meant we didn't need to drive at all. The beach was close by and fabulous, even for a quick swim. Loved sitting on the deck in the sun shine listening to the waves roll in, and the fire place with plenty of fire wood kept us cosy during the evenings. Highly recommended.

Great bushy location

Our family group, 5 adults, found the place well equipped and decorated with some lovely art work. It was an easy walk to the restaurant and the pub, which was good. Lots of games and you could watch a movie in peace if you wanted tp.

Perfectly located for a beach break

There's a lot to like about this place! Location - Perched atop a headland with waves crashing on beach below but in a protected bushland setting that feels private and secluded. Hop, skip and a jump to an awesome beach (bring the boogey board!) and walking distance to local cafes and pub with knockout views. Park the car and leave it. Outside living - Breakfast on the deck each morning, accompanied by the resident frog in the umbrella that we named Tiddles, lovely flat grassed lawn where we played badminton, firepit. Great house - Clean, well equipped, beautiful bedside ocean view. Everything we needed and more

Relaxing

We had a very relaxing holiday in this lovely house. Excellent location. Although the weather was not favourable it was great to be in such a nice space. Loved the louvres as they let the air flow through the house and helped keep the humidity down a bit. Gorgeous artwork throughout the house. It would have been good to know that there was no internet to be better prepared. Overall fabulous though. Loved going to sleep with the sounds of the waves.

Dirty and smelly, can not recommend

Pro: The location above Tathra beach is excellent. You can hear the waves on the deck and from the bedroom. Con: As soon as you enter the musty smell of an old, damp house hits you and sticks to your clothes. When we arrived the kitchen was so dirty that we complained straight away. The cleaner came the next day and did some superficial cleaning. However, this property needs a deep clean. The kitchen and everything in it is dirty and sticky, the grout in the bathrooms black, spiders everywhere, fly screens all blind. All kitchen utensils are shockingly old, same goes for the thin towels. Guests are asked to bring the rubbish bins up to the street. It requires the large bins to be dragged up a long very steep road. We’ve done this before and are ok with it but we’ve never had such an ordeal. Last but not least there’s a bee swarm residing on the roof of the deck - right underneath the bedroom windows which had fly screens with holes in it. The owners didn’t bother to tell us in advance and we felt very uncomfortable being surrounded by bees. Had we known this before we would’ve cancelled. For 400AUD/night we were expecting a much higher quality.
