You can simply enjoy the quiet and serenity of the mountain getaway, or engage in any of the incredible local activities:

Fishing: Check out Tarryall Fly Guides in Fairplay, CO. They will set you up with a guided service, and any of your fishing fishing needs. Pick up a license there or in Jefferson. Tarryall Reservoir and Jefferson Lake are great spots to take in the views, see a waterfall, and cast your line. Spinney and Eleven Mile Reservoirs offer incredible fishing on the lakes or on the Dream Stream that connects them. Note: Antero is closed until 2018. If you’re looking for close guaranteed action beyond the public access of the South Platte, Blue, and Arkansas Rivers, there are private fishing stretches available nearby for daily rod fees.

Fitness: The Fairplay Rec Center is 20 minutes away and has a year round indoor zero-entry and lap pool, a full work-out facility, exercise classes, a skate park, BMX course and a sauna shaped like a cask! Day use fee applies.

Hiking: Hiking is abundant! The famous Colorado Trail hike goes through near-by Kenosha Pass. You can also hike the roads around the property and take in some fabulous views and fresh mountain air at any time of the day. There are forest service roads connecting many forested areas that can be hiked as well.

Horseback Riding: 15 minutes from the cabin is the American Safari Ranch. They offer open range and forest riding, plus a BBQ lunch for a modest fee.

Hunting: There is an abundance of public access in the area for big game hunting. No hunting is allowed around the cabin, but use the cabin as basecamp.

Mountain biking: Several mountain biking trails run through Lost Lake Forest, and the roads through Indian Mountain provide some challenging ascents or circuits. The Colorado Trail from Kenosha Pass to the Lost Creek Wilderness and Kenosha Pass down to Jefferson Creek and up to Georgia Pass are some of the best riding trails in Colorado.

River Rafting: 60 minutes from the property you will find Buena Vista and the Arkansas River, some of the best in Colorado. As well, the Royal Gorge is 90 minutes the other direction.

Skiing: 50 minutes from the cabin you will find yourself at the Gondola lot of Breckenridge, 65 minutes you will be at the base of Keystone. Monarch Mountain is a smaller, more local mountain approx. 2 hours away. If you are feeling adventurous, there is some epic back-country skiing to be had in the area, as well as cross-country skiing. Bring your beacon!

Snowmobiling: There are plenty of access sites in the area.

4x4: There is an abundance of 4x4 roads if you want to stretch your vehicle’s legs.
Boreas Pass from Como to Breckenridge is open in the summer and a fun look into the old mining and rail ways. Forest service roads abound that have varying conditions based on the season.

14ers and Hot Springs: You are 1 hour from Buena Vista where you can find the Mt. Princeton Hot Springs and Collegiate Peak 14ers.

Neighborhood Amenities: If you would like to take advantage of some of the amenities that Indian Mountain offers, there is Pasture Golf (clubs provided), Frisbee Golf on an awesome and challenging mountain course (there are discs at the property and on the course for your use), as well as an archery and shooting range. There is also a playground for the kids.

Wet your whistle and dance it out at the Stagestop Saloon – likely the closest watering hole. Our favorite is the South Park Brewery and Tap Room, great beer, food and views, and super kid-friendly!

If you are interested in some of the mining history of Park County, Como and SouthPark
in Fairplay are educational and fun to see into the old ways of the area. Visit Old Town in Fairplay, a collection of buildings from the 1800s.

Great weekend fishing with buddies

Centrally located to many great trout streams, but off the beaten path enough to feel private. The views from the front porch made for an amazing backdrop to dinner each night. We all will be recommending this locations to our friends!

Great family getaway

We had a fantastic time unwinding at this cabin. Lots of space for the kids to play outside. Loved the wood fireplace. Please note it is 3 bedrooms and a family room loft - for planning purposes. Very clean and well appointed. Would definitely recommend!

Great view at a quiet hideaway

The cabin was comfortable and our stay was relaxing. It had everything we needed and it was nice to have a gas grill. It rained and we needed a rug (besides the door mat) at the back door for our wet shoes.

Amazing views while being secluded

Property was amazing besides the over grown grass, I don't think it can be cut like I'm used to lol. The cabin was amazing in every way and we'll stocked for anything you might need or need to use.

I have stayed in many Colorado cabins over the years, and this might be one of my favorites because of the layout of the cabin, the amenities, the quiet, and the scenery. Would definitely revisit!

Great place to stay for a secluded trip to the mountains

We had a great hunting trip to the mountains. The home was as advertised. Very comfortable, great location for our hunting in the local area. The home was clean and the kitchen was well stocked. Jennie was great with information and help as we finalized our plans. I would definitely recommend this property and we will likely stay here again.

Great Cabin!!!

We had a great experience at your cabin. The drive from Denver was super easy. We were super happy with the sleeping accommodations, fit our 2 families with children perfectly, everyone had their own rooms & the kids had the loft space to play/watch movies, etc. The wildlife was super cool and we did so many fun outdoor activities....hiking, fishing, canoeing, etc. What a great trip. We would highly recommend this place!!!

Cozy Cabin with Stunning Views

My husband I stayed here with our 3 kids and loved it. It was a true cozy Colorado cabin tucked amongst the Aspens. There was plenty of space and our kids loved the loft area. The views are stunning. Our favorite time of day was sitting on the large front porch watching the sunset. We loved getting out on hikes around the property. There is also nearby fishing and horse back riding that we enjoyed. We highly recommend staying here!

Great Views!

My family and I had a wonderful time at this cozy cabin. The place is well cared for with lots of little bonuses here and there. Beds are comfy. Great views from all windows. Enjoyed the fireplace, doing puzzles, reading and playing games. Took quiet walks around the scenic neighborhood. Owner is very responsive. We will happily return.

Fun girls getaway

We did a girls trip for a relaxing and fun weekend getaway. It was a quick trip out of town without the congestion of I-70 traffic. The accommodations were very comfortable and included everything you need for a weekend away . We loved being so close to the hot springs and beautiful hiking trails. The views from the house are incredible and the deck is a perfect spot for looking out at the stars with your favorite beverage. This weekend was the perfect mix of outdoor activity and relaxation. We hope to get back again soon!

Nice quiet area

Nice quiet out of the way area. Walked area and ran into deer. Its 30-40 mins. Away from 3 fishing areas. Caught some good sized trout. Instructions were printed throughout house for lights and other household stuff. It was a good stay. Would recommend.

Great Escape

This cabin was just what we were looking for: a quiet, remote place to get away from everyday hustle and bustle. This cabin was peaceful with plenty of outdoor space to relax in and gaze at the Mountain Views. Close enough to civilization to get groceries and make a day trip to Breckinridge. Equipped with kitchen and grill and everything needed to prepare meals. Electronics available but not the focus of attention. We were all comfortable and relaxed, and even had a family disc golf outing just a few minutes away with beautiful Mountain Views as well. Also saw plenty of deer. Saw more stars at night than I ever have before. Just right.

Great Getaway

Over the past few years we have stayed at many places in the Colorado mountains. I think this my favorite spot. This cabin, for me, seemed focused on immersing us in the mountains. It takes me back to my childhood vacations int he 1970's when it seemed everything about Colorado was about the Rocky Mountains and the Western simplicity of life. It may be due to COVID but our experience was what I have been trying to "find" in Colorado for the last 20+ years. I love Colorado for the mountains, the wildlife, and the crisp mountain air. I got all of these in abundance. Jennie was an outstanding host and the house was clean and well stocked of all the essentials. The living room was sometimes a bit tight for our group of 8 but we also enjoyed the closeness of that experience. If I needed "space" the deck overlooking the valley and mountains was right out the door(& that's what I really wanted anyway). I would recommend this cabin to anyone wanting to connect with the natural beauty that is Colorado!

Quiet, secluded, and spacious

We had a great time at the cabin. Plenty of room for parking and outdoor space for the kids to explore. The main room was nice and spacious, the bedrooms had plenty of room too. We had to get a little creative with AV setup for the kids, but we adults came for the seclusion not the electronics. It was hot while we were there (July) during the day, but a few windows open takes care of that real fast. If you're staying in this area just know it is off the beaten path which is great for me, but some members of the family complained about that. For those of you who like hiking, fishing, and drinking, this is an awesome area. Along CO-9 are dozens of spots for the first two, and nearby Fairplay is great for picking up brews at the South Park Brewery for the third. Also recommend driving the pass road from Como to Breckenridge if you want to see some moose, eagles, or take in panoramas. Plenty of basics and starter items in the kitchen if you forgot something. No dishwasher so plan ahead who's doing dishes. Lots of hummingbirds, birds of prey, and deer in the area while we stayed there, and less commonly coyote and what looked like pronghorn antelopes. When we come back to CO we are checking here first!

Off the well traveled path, but run down and not the cleanest

Our weekend stay was peaceful but unsettling. When we first arrived, we walked through the entire cabin to get the lay of the land, so to speak. Right off the bat, we noticed a used towel in one of the baths, as well as a gob of hair in the shower drain. To be honest, if we were staying at a hotel, we'd have asked for a different room, or moved onto a different hotel. With VRBO, it doesn't quite work that way. I reached out to the owner, and she was quick to reply with an apology. Unfortunately, our minds were not completely at ease after that. I constantly wondered what else was left uncleanded after the last guest. Beyond that, there were dead moths along the baseboard in one of the bedrooms, There were child toys scattered everywhere, and the main door to the cabin had a very finicky door lock. The key was on a zip string next to the door, and you'd have to jiggle the handle side to side to get it to lock/unlock. Awkward. Then, there were two gates around the small entry deck. Both of which has gate latches with the screws about to come out. Again, jiggle with it and it was good. For the security deposit, the nightly rental, and the quite high cleaning charge, I severally doubt I'd stay in the place again. For a two night stay, we could have stayed at a very nice hotel in another mountain town, and would not have had to deal with a ran down property and still have to pay for the cleaning on top of the nightly rate. The views were nice, and the mountain air was much needed - the positives from our stay, but I'd guess you'd get that from many other mountain cabins in the Rockies. The owner graciously refunded 10% of our nightly stay rate because of the cleaning snafu. Unfortunately, it was far less than the charged cleaning fee that we had to pay.

Unwind on the deck and take in the mountain view!

Efficient, friendly communications throughout booking, arrival, stay and departure. Beautiful cabin, very homely feel, inside amenities were well maintained, everything we needed to be comfortable and relaxed for our 3 nt stay. The local community area needs some upkeep as the frisbee golf and trail heads were pretty overgrown. Nice shaded stop with tables for a BBQ/picnic though. Thank you for a lovely stay.
