About this property

Reynolds Cottage Woodend

Reynolds Cottage was built in 1892 and is one of Woodend's oldest homes.

Reynolds Cottage is the perfect place to stay for a getaway break, special event or visit to family and friends. Cool in Summer, cozy in Winter, Reynolds Cottage offers great accommodation for couples, families and groups in a restored miner's cottage in the heart of Woodend.

Reynolds Cottage provides flexible accommodation and sleeping arrangements for up to 5 people. The cottage is fully self-contained and our rates include generous breakfast provisions should you choose to eat in.

Whatever your reasons for visiting, our guests tell us that once you arrive at Reynolds Cottage, you won't want to leave.

Laze by the Reynolds Cottage fire, read a good book in the garden, watch a movie, cook a gourmet meal - and when you're ready to get out and about, there's plenty to do:

Climb Hanging Rock, visit a local winery, explore by bike or on horseback, plan a day hike, visit Woodend's High Street for that perfect piece for the house or your wardrobe, take the little ones to the children's adventure playground, or join the locals in a Woodend eatery for coffee, a glass of wine, a cleansing ale or a great meal.

Our location

Historic Reynolds Cottage is just a short walk from the Woodend shopping centre and railway station. We are located at the corner of High Street and Owen Street, one block north of the Five Mile Creek and Visitor Information Centre.

Most of our guests arrive by car, but you can also travel to Woodend by V-line train and bus. Please let us know if you need a lift from the railway station.

Our accommodation

Reynolds Cottage offers plenty of comfortable accommodation - three bedrooms, living room, kitchen/dining room, full bathroom and laundry. There is a queen size bed in the main bedroom, twin beds in the second bedroom, and a single bed in the third bedroom which also provides a desk. You'll enjoy our hotel quality linen, fully serviced kitchen, laundry facilities and cozy fire.

We accept one night bookings except for public holidays and some special event weekends. Please note that there is a three night booking minimum for the Queen's Birthday (Woodend Winter Arts Festival) and Melbourne/Kyneton Cup Day weekends, and minimum stays for the Easter, Christmas and New Year holiday periods.

We value your business and are happy to answer your questions. Please ask about our discounts for longer stays.

Booking note

Please note: we offer single night bookings except for holiday and local event weekends and holiday periods.

Gorgeous!
Very sweet abode, very clean and well appointed, and in a great location. Booking and communication with the owners was very easy. Beds were very clean and comfy with plenty of bedding, we needed it too due to a cold snap, fridge was stocked with essentials and a little bit more, which was great and very welcome. Bathroom and laundry facilities were, again, very clean. The crowning glory was the garden, quite large, with beautiful fruit trees and cottage plants, really lovely. Recommended.

A special place
Having returned again to Reynolds Cottage in Woodend we were reminded of the cozy and welcoming surrounds it provides. It is a very special place - close but just far enough away from the centre of Woodend. The open fire and comfortable beds ensure a terrific Winter getaway.

Staying at Reynolds Cottage
We (2 of us) stayed 3 nights in this lovely cottage. The owners have diligently provided everything we needed including brekky items, a laid out fire ready to light which we needed 2 out of the 3 nights, there’s also the nice extra touches of some toiletries and fresh flowers. We attended the Elton John concert at Hanging Rock which was brilliant in itself and having such a convenient location, walking distance from the heart of town where we caught a shuttle bus was great and coming back late at night with only a short distance back to the cottage finished the experience off perfectly! Thank you Esther and Andrew for allowing us to stay in your lovely property, we’ll definitely remember you for another time 🙂

Reynolds Cottage is delightful
This cottage is a gem, and the property managers add to the charm with touches like a wood fire already laid in the parlor, ready for lighting, and fresh cut flowers.

Cosy and Clean
Reynold’s cottage is in a great location for exploring the town (easy 10 minute walk to the Woodend Brewery and Cafe’s) and is well set up for a weekend away. Breakfast provisions are generous and it is easy to stay warm with electric blankets on the beds, log fire, reverse cycle heater and extra blankets. Check in was easy as was getting in touch with the host.

Highly Recommended
This is a beautiful little cottage with a great feel about it. It was very cosy and homely. We wished we could have stayed longer. The best things were the friendly welcome by the property owners (via email), the beds were extremely comfortable and everything was very clean. Also the little extras such as the toiletries and the breakfast provisions were great. I would highly recommend a stay at the cottage.

Autumn retreat
Feels like home - loved the character and sense of history, and it's a lovely 10 minute walk to town. Pretty gardens, lovely sun trap outside the back door..The beds are so comfortable (and electric blankets a treat!), the kitchen well equipped (thanks for the provisions, Esther!) and sitting room cosy, especially with the fire. Good shower/bath and the indulgence of thick, white towels. Could easily have stayed longer than 5 nights - a lot to explore in the region. Happily also spent some time curled up in an armchair reading by the fire, enjoying a glass of local red...

The perfect cosy cottage
After lots of research we chose Reynolds Cottage for a week away and hoped it would fit the bill. And it is was perfect. It's a cosy cottage beautifully fitted out to meet every need... with a warm fire, a well equipped kitchen, a relaxing bath and a rambling and private garden. Less than an hours drive to Melbourne and with the V Line, we enjoyed a couple of days in the city. The short stroll to the shops is relaxing and there are plenty of cafes and tourist shops to enjoy. We shall definitely be inquiring about staying at Reynolds Cottage again.

Lovely old cottage with quaint appeal. Beautifully decorated and amazing gardens to sit in the sun and have a glass of wine and read a book. Very close to shops and cafes. Cute cottage kitchen and breakfast provided which was great. Will definitely come back for another stay in the glorious Woodend.
